Windows needs an improved permission system Posted: 30 Sep 2019 06:31 PM PDT I think that Windows should have an improved permission system that requires apps to get permission to access your personal files. I know that this already applies to Microsoft Store apps, but this should apply to desktop apps as well. [link] [comments]
Problem with pining on Start Menu Posted: 30 Sep 2019 05:44 PM PDT I had to reinstall my Forza Horizon 4(Microsoft Store exclusive), and while the game was still downloading I opened my Start Menu to find the icon for it there and decided to pin it to where I used to keep it, I right-clicked it, clicked pin to Start and then it broke. Firstly the icon went on top of other icons and I couldn't move it, but then somehow after trying again to move it it did, but now I can't move it again, unpin it and resize it. This is both for the one that is in the Start menu and the "recently added" section. Anyone know what to do ? [link] [comments]

Color scheme suddenly changed on my taskbar and start menu? Posted: 30 Sep 2019 05:34 PM PDT Yesterday it was black, and now it's white. I don't like light color schemes. Why did this happen, and how do I fix it? [link] [comments]
Headphones wont get detected by windows after update! Posted: 30 Sep 2019 12:29 PM PDT So yesterday night windows asked me to update and I updated it. The next morning I go to use my computer and now my Logitech G432 Headphones won't work. I plug it in normally with the two jacks that come with it, and nothing it doesn't appear anywhere. I tried using the jack to USB converter dongle that came with my headphones. This time it was detected but no sound played from them and the Mic on it didn't work. My headphones have been working for 1 year with no problems until this update last night so I'm kinda upset that I updated and now I don't know what to do. Does anyone know a solution? Kitten keeps sitting on my laptop -- how to disable only physical keyboard? Posted: 29 Sep 2019 09:47 PM PDT I just got a very affectionate kitten, and he likes to sit on my laptop keyboard and watch videos with me -- only problem is, of course, this spazzes out the laptop. Basically I want to lock only the physical keyboard without disabling my remote keyboard as well, which is via my phone (Unified Remote). Every keyboard-locking tool I can find disables all key input. How do I lock only my main physical keyboard? Thanks in advance. Backup Options (Like Time Machine)... Posted: 30 Sep 2019 08:50 AM PDT Hey everyone, I'm looking for a solid backup option for Windows 10. Something that will allow me to restore from the backup the way I can from a Time Machine backup if I have to reinstall my OS from scratch in the event of a disk failure. I've spent a few hours on Google and the results are lackluster. I've also tried using Acronis and lost BOTH drives (source+destination). About three months ago, I tried restoring from a Windows-created backup and it didn't work. What options do I have? [link] [comments]

Boot issues after latest updates Posted: 30 Sep 2019 06:15 PM PDT I installed the latest updates that came out on Sept 26 (regular Windows update & .NET framework update), but have been having boot issues for the last couple days since then. My PC usually has to go through POST at least twice if it even boots at all, and sometimes when it gets to the login screen, it just flashes black every 3 seconds while resetting the screen, so I have to manually power down and give it another try. Any idea how I can try to diagnose/fix whats going on, or would a system restore be better? Running Windows 10 Pro on a Ryzen 3600/2060 Super /w Aorus Pro Wifi X570. [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Sep 2019 12:31 PM PDT Dell XPS 15 9570 My laptop was recently updated to some newer Windows version but I noticed one thing. Before the update, whenever I would swipe 3 fingers to either right or left side (didn't matter) I would always get to the next windows open. Be it browser, file explorer or game. Now it doesn't work that way and I can only swipe to right and I risk chance of swiping by more than one window. With the old version I didn't need to think about which way im swiping and the system didn't even care how long the swipe is. If I wanted to move more than one window I would simply hold my fingers on the touchpad until I saw all windows open. I hope someone understands what Im trying to say, its driving me nuts as I use this gesture all the time. If anyone has fix I would love to hear it. Thank you [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Sep 2019 09:38 AM PDT Why does Windows still have such lacking partition tools? I'm running into a problem with an update that can't run because the system reserved partition is too small. So I need to get a third party partitioning program to change it? Why is this stuff not built into Windows at this point? There has to be some kind of reason, right? Side note if anyone has any good partitioning programs that wont try to sell me on a bunch of other useless crap that would be cool. [link] [comments]

Dell Inspiron 17 not going to sleep automatically, tried everything!! HELP PLEASE!! Posted: 30 Sep 2019 09:31 AM PDT Hello Folks ..... I have a Dell Inspiron 17 7773 that won't enter sleep mode automatically, if I close the lid or tell windows to go sleep the computer sleeps, but not automatically. I've tried so many things, at least everything that I've read except resetting and clean boot. I'm just trying to avoid those because it will require so much work and I don't have much spare time. Here are the things that I've tried: - First, powercfg -requests / lastwake / devicequery wake_armed, they all report NONE, nothing, no requests, no devices armed, no devices waking up the computer. - powercfg -energy reports that some USB devices are not entering selective suspend mode, I've disabled selective suspend from the power options, also I've disconnected the USB devices and keeps happening. - I don't have any device set to wake up the computer (powercfg -devicequery wake_armed confirmed that) but also make sure checking every device in Device Manager. - My power options are all set to allow sleep to work properly, disabled selective usb suspend, allowing entering sleep while sharing media, sleep enable after 5 min, disabled fast startup, disabled hybrid sleep ..... you name it!! - I have an external HDD, an external usb hub and mouse, but as I said previously, I've disconnected all this devices and the problem persists. - I have a media server running (using PLEX and Emby) but I've killed both processes using task manager and problem remains. Also, I properly killed (using task manager) almost every process that is not OS related and nothing, the same. - I've updated all my drivers from DELL website, my graphic driver from Nvidia and Intel, all the Intel drivers and my OS is updated (windows update). Currently running Windows 10 1903, installed every update that it has been available to me. So this is the scenario: an updated Dell laptop, running Windows 10 1903, with no usb devices connected, with all non OS related process killed, with all power settings correctly configured, with powercfg reporting no requests, no wake armed devices, no wake requests .... not entering sleep automatically. The computer does sleep when ordered to do so. I'm leaving the factory reset choice as the last option. Also, I've not tried the clean boot troubleshooting option because there is so much work involved with this procedure, although I did killed all the non OS process and the problem persists. I'll really appreciate is someone can help me troubleshoot this problem, its driving me crazy!! .... Any ideas?? HELP PLEASEEEE!!! :-) [link] [comments]

KB4503548 on Windows 7 continuously reinstalls itself Posted: 30 Sep 2019 11:40 AM PDT Seems that KB4503548, .NET 4.8 for Windows 7, installs itself successfully several times a day since I approved it through WSUS. This extra disk activity is killing performance on a lot of my fleet. Since this supposedly replaces previous versions of .NET, I don't know of a way to reverse this problem. Any suggestions as to how to get it to be satisfied with just one install or otherwise stop this madness? [link] [comments] |
