Posted: 30 Jul 2019 03:25 PM PDT I have a bunch of floppy disks pre-formatted with DOS by a musical 1985 keyboard. They were my dads and he made music and songs with the Ensoniq keyboard he had which I have sold a couple of months ago. I have tried Windows 10 and many different Linux distros to try to open the floppy disks via my external USB floppy disk drive. They won't open due to format compatibility and cannot read. Request denied. My last retort is Windows 95 with USB support. Now I can install Windows 95 via Virtual Box. I don't exactly want to buy a copy of Windows 95 since I just want to try it and don't know for sure if it's going to read my floppy disks. Is there a way for Microsoft to give me an iso? I don't really need the key, I think. Just get to the desktop and try the floppy drive and disks. Right? EDIT: I have tried everything from using Windows 95 on VirtualBox to Windows 10, macOS, and several Linux distros. No luck. I think my only option is to try to find an old desktop computer with an internal 3.5 floppy disk drive and Windows 95/98. I might be able to find one from one of my dad's old friends. Otherwise, I will just throw them away, sadly. [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Jul 2019 04:40 PM PDT I recently installed Windows on my laptop and I used the ink workspace for a little bit before Windows updated to the latest version. I stopped using it for a while and today I decided to mess around with it a bit more only to find that when I click the taskbar icon only two small options come up Whiteboard (not installed or wanted) and Fullscreen Snip Also the sketchpad app seems to be completely gone What happened? Windows Search - Disable Web Results 1903 Posted: 30 Jul 2019 01:11 PM PDT Hello all! Is there anyway to disable web search results while using the windows search function? I've had it disabled previously but the new update (1903) I received this afternoon seems to have reverted it back to its old behavior. [link] [comments]
Is having TRIM in Raid 1 still a dream with Windows 10 (1903)? Posted: 30 Jul 2019 08:08 PM PDT My previous build (W10, 2x samsung 860 pro in Raid 1 with intel RST) is not working (performance), because Intel RST supports TRIM only with RAID 0. Apparently, the soft raid of Windows also does not support trim with raid 1 ( I would like to reinstall it. And set it correctly this time. What would you do? [link] [comments]
Focus Assists settings won't save on boot up/reboot Posted: 30 Jul 2019 07:55 PM PDT In my Settings, I have Focus Assists turned off. However, on every boot up and reboot, Focus Assists is set to Alarms Only instead. Anyone experiencing the same issue? [link] [comments]
Stuck in safe mode and it won't accept my password Posted: 30 Jul 2019 01:52 AM PDT Was trying to clean my graphic driver, it rebooted to safe mode which asked for a password. And even if I only used a PIN I entered a password, older ones tried everything. Am desparate and on the edge of crying and anger because all my work is on the desktop. EDIT : Thanks for the help guys, I solved this. It's solved by opening Command prompt. Windows 10 file manager alternative for video projects. Posted: 30 Jul 2019 02:19 AM PDT Hi, I'm looking for w10 3rd party file manager, because I'm finding windows explorer not to be particularly useful for managing my projects. Maybe someone here can provide help. Basically, I'm looking for a file manager that I can select a folder with a project and get a general information about this project without having to go in further into the folder hole. Things like: clear, custom thumbnail of my choice, description of contents of folder, tags and ideally some color options for folders and files. Do you guys know anything about a software like this? Any artists, project managers here maybe? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Jul 2019 06:39 PM PDT After clicking on sandbox and pressing yes to the access popup, windows play an error sound and presents me with this "error message". It just shows a red X and an Ok, but doesn't actually say what the issue is and why sandbox cant run. Any ideas? Wont let me enlarge the box by dragging the corners either... [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Jul 2019 02:42 PM PDT So I have windows 10, a 64 bit operating system, 16 gigs ram, and i7, and an GeForce graphics card (sorry I forget exactly which one). Anyway, after logging in, if I try to start a program or load something my computer freezes until I restart it. I've been trying to fix this for a while and have had no luck so I've come to reddit for help, anything would be appreciated, thank you Edit: Additionally, I have run a full system diagnostic and all hard drives come back as operational, I also cleaned all of the connections between my hard drives and computer, I've tried the regedit trick of changing the start value to 4 and my quick start is off, idk if that matters at all. I also tried re installing windows and it didn't do me much [link] [comments]
Fresh install of Win10, long reboot Posted: 30 Jul 2019 12:19 PM PDT I just installed a Win 10 pro to my new rig. Update asked me to reboot, so I pressed ok. Now I've watched "Getting Windows ready" for the past 45 mins. How long it might take? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Jul 2019 10:21 AM PDT A Co Worker of mine messed with my PC. No biggy, undid the changes, but for some reason some keys toggle my color filter when im clicked onto the actual Desktop. They told me they haven't a clue and I 100% believe them. Literally color filters are turned off and so is the default hotkey windows makes it. My desktop also has no foreign software or hotkey editing software. Please help! EDIT: So apparently, everything breaks it, as long as its two keys or more. https://youtu.be/i7XjdnXLofM [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Jul 2019 01:53 PM PDT I have already created AUoptions in my registry files and tried to disable it with that. I've already gone into gpedit and checked everything I could find that even remotely has to do with updates. Yet even with all of this now I'm getting a damn pop-up that keeps telling me 'Windows has to update' and gives me an option to delay it by one hour. I don't know if this is a new 'feature' (and I use that term loosely) but it's the first time I've seen it. I am aware I can change my active hours but my PC is effectively active 24 hours a day until I can get a break with it. Yes I am fully aware of the risks involved in what I am asking and I am fully capable of accepting responsibility for those risks. If my PC gets hacked or fried or just plain explodes because of the C4 charges Microsoft has set in every PC, then so be it. I'm here for an answer please, not to be told 'oh just update it's no big deal and can help your PC'. When I want updates I will allow Microsoft to update, and not one second before. Posted: 29 Jul 2019 10:00 PM PDT So basically my set up is pretty common, I have an SSD for OS and programs and important stuff. MY D drive is my HDD, which is a data storage drive for files and other stuff. I have redirected my Desktop, Downloads, documents, folder to my HDD data drive. Now this is a annoying problem that occurs, everytime if i move files or folders from my desktop to the C:/ root folder, instead of just moving, it begins copying it and then i had 2 duplicates, one in the desktop and one in the C:/ Folder. but Back when i only had one drive (the SSD drive only), and did not redirect the desktop folder to a secondary HDD, i never had this issue, if i moved files between desktop and C:/ root folder, it just moved without copying. this is probably cause it was one drive. Now that i set my desktop folder to my D HDD Data Drive, and My C"/ drive is still my SSD, i'm guessing it's copying because it's 2 different drives. But is there any way to stop this behavior? How to stop it from copying when i move files from my desktop (which is redirect to HDD drive) to my C:/ folder( which is on SSD Drive)? I know it's 2 physically different drives, but is there any way to trick the OS just to move it and not copy? thanks I'm not sure if my questions makes sense or not [link] [comments]
GamePass PC says Game is installed when it isn't, cant install it! Posted: 30 Jul 2019 05:17 AM PDT As described. I started downloading Wolfenstein 2 however the xbox client crashed and now thinks the game is installed but I cannot launch the game and the button the game page says install! https://i.imgur.com/NxFw6EB.jpg Shows the issue. I can install any other game just fine, I've checked all the folders on my PC for the game files but they don't exist. Any help please! [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Jul 2019 04:36 AM PDT I have a couple questions related to file explorer. I'm running Windows 10 Home 1903. I had two external drives that somehow Windows removed all the files on a couple years ago and have been trying to recover the files. First question about explorer. When I'm in a folder on an external drive I have to keep waiting for the folder to load when dealing with massive amounts of files(at one point it was over 3 mil because of all the garbage Windows saves) other than making several folders with less files is there a way to get explorer to keep reloading everytime I move or delete files? And next one is. I have view on maximum setting but still not quite large enough to see any watermarks in picture preview pane. Is there a way to tweak it a little more to make it a little bigger? Or is there a good after market file explorer that may work better for me in these situations? [link] [comments]
Is there any way to bind microphone levels to a specific key? Posted: 30 Jul 2019 08:07 AM PDT I want to be able to use a voice changer and increase the volume of my microphone without manually having to go into the settings. I know that it's possible to do it on many headsets directly but I'm wondering about binding it to an unrelated key not connected to the headphones. [link] [comments]

Fastest (least bloated) version of windows 7/8/10? Posted: 30 Jul 2019 10:54 AM PDT What is the fastest or least bloated version of windows 7/8/10? The goal is to find the most performant version of windows that is compatible with the majority of windows 10 software in a virtual machine environment. From what I've found tiny7 seems to be the least bloated of all the options however having only a 32 bit version and lacking Windows 7 SP1 makes it incompatible for hardware acceleration in most virtual machine environments. Windows 7 Starter removes much of the unnecessary cruft in Windows 7 however it only has a 32 bit version which potentially reduces the amount of compatible software. Windows 7 Super Lite has 32 and 64 bit versions but doesn't seem to be very reputable and it's origins are very questionable. I've installed it myself and it doesn't seem to be any different from windows 7 ultimate. Windows 7 Thin PC seems to be the most optimized for low spec machines, however, I'm unsure how much windows 10 software it will be able to support as it is also only 32 bit and it is based on Windows XP Embedded. Windows 10 can be stripped down after many hours of running debloat scripts, setting tuning, and optimizing, however, I'm unsure whether the final result would be any better than the alternatives mentioned above and the time required to get it to that state would certainly be more than the alternatives. Windows 10 black screen after login issue Posted: 30 Jul 2019 10:51 AM PDT Hey, so today I start up my pc and then log in, after that I get a black screen but I can see my cursor. Watched a couple of videos that suggested a fix using the task manager, but after I open the task manager it's unresponding and closes after like 2 seconds, so that is out. Tried booting up in safe mode and going back to a save point, but apparently I dont have one. I also have the same issue in safe mode. So I think its an issue with my ssd. How should I approach this? Luckily I have another SSD that I store some games in so I guess I could put my OS in that one, but im not too sure on how to do that. On top of that I cant find a flash drive in my house and the other pc's are pretty much useless, so frustration is an at all time high. Sorry for my bad english, not first language. Changed notif sound but not working in Chrome Posted: 30 Jul 2019 10:38 AM PDT I was getting fed up of the default notification sound in Chrome, so I went into Sounds in the speaker at the bottom right and changed it. When I hit "Test" in the Sounds tab it works fine, but my notifications in browser are now silent. Any suggestions for fixing this? I can't see any option to change the sound in Chrome settings, even advanced. [link] [comments]
Bad image 0xc000012f error when launching game Posted: 30 Jul 2019 10:03 AM PDT Trying to run a game but it gives me a bad image error. Instead of specifying a corrupt or missing file it's just returning a blank space. I have no idea where the problem might be but the only thing I can think of is DirectX. Updated them with both the June 2010 installer and web installer. Also verified files with steam. Both of the methods didn't help at all. Is there a way to find out which file is causing my game not to boot? [link] [comments] |
