Why don't Pixel/Google have their own smart watch? Posted: 01 Jun 2019 12:29 AM PDT They could be making a killing with their own watch and make it their official watch like Apple does with their own watch instead of having 50+ companies making 500 different Android watches and all being different quality, features, etc. Organize all that shit into one watch from the company that made Android. Posted: 01 Jun 2019 12:05 AM PDT I'm in Italy (European Union) and i have redmi 3s NOT global edition. From like 2 weeks when i turn on the phone the data connection crashes within 10 minutes. From like 9 months i can't connect to 4G but only H+, H or E, and only with H+ I'm actually connected, because others don't work but only shows the symbol. If i use the same SIM in another not global xiaomi phone (i tried the redmi 4a) the same thing happens. If i use the same SIM but in another global phone, that has the european frequencies, i can use data connection normally. Could it be that Telecom Italy blacklisted me? Or my phones that does not have the frequencies that they want, idk [link] [comments] |

(Help) Data usage and modded apps Posted: 31 May 2019 11:36 PM PDT Alright, so I got these new services from my network provider. They are called Video Pass and Social Pass Video Pass gives you 100GB of data monthly for use in "the video streaming sites and applications:Youtube, Vimeo, HBO GO and Netflix" Social Pass gives you 100GB of data monthly for use in "social media apps and sites, messengers and voice/video calls through the internet: Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, Whatsapp, Pinterest, Twitter, Tumblr and Viber." Now, here comes the question. What if I use apps such as Youtube Vanced or GBInsta? Or what about outdated apps? They open the same links and they stream the information from the same source, just as the regular app from the play store, only the application itself is changed. Thank you in advance. I really hope I could figure that out. [link] [comments] |
Are the new A.I. enhanced pictures really real? Or just a painting? Posted: 01 Jun 2019 02:07 AM PDT These days, top smartphones seem to "enhance" pictures. Especially, Google Pixel. I have been thinking that if the pictures are real. Isn't it more like a painting that the A.I. has composed to look nice rather than being faithful to the reality? [link] [comments] |
Can you put both apps and media on a SD card? Posted: 01 Jun 2019 01:48 AM PDT I have a:
When the SD card is formatted as internal I can move app to it, but can't move or transfer media to it. When it's formatted as external/portable I can add media to it but not move apps to it. Because my phones internal storage is quite small I'd like to be able to do both, is this possible? I remmeber being able to do both in my old lollipop phone [link] [comments] |

Posted: 31 May 2019 03:23 PM PDT So a few months or weeks ago my navigation bar had two options. 1 where you can have it appear with a simple swipe up. And 2 where you can double press a small dot to keep your bar permanent. Since a recent update ive noticed the bar is there forever. Can anyone help me find a solution to get that mechanic back? Have i been infected by Malware or Spyware? Posted: 01 Jun 2019 03:10 AM PDT Hi, Against better judgement, I downloaded an audio file from one of those shady youtube video to audio conversion sites. While the audio file was downloading I noticed that another file had already been completed in my notification tray. Instinctively, I clicked on this and got that little transparent pop up/notification at the bottom of the phone which stated something to the effect of this file cannot be opened. I have been trying to trace this file since then to no avail. I should state that my Chrome was set to allow installations from unknown sources. I thought nothing of all this till my phone exhibited some unusual behavior the next day. Phone was charging when all of a sudden it started emitting sound. When I checked, a whatsapp status video was playing. The phone had been untouched for 10 minutes or so. Yesterday, a whatsapp video i shared with a friend was 'mistakenly' shared with another friend as well. I only noticed this when this other friend responded. This has never happened to me before, ever. Occasionally, I feel that some browser tabs i left open had been closed but that could be just paranoia at play. I checked and didn't find any new applications, strange SMSes or mails on the phone. Malware bytes and Kaspersky found nothing so i did a factory reset this morning. Based on the above, do you guys think I have some sort of virus and would I have remedied this with the factory reset? I've read that if the breach happens in the system ROM, then a reset wouldn't remove the virus/malware. My phone (Xiaomi Mi A2 lite) is not rooted. I just checked the root status and that is still the case. Am i safe now? What else can I do. Thanks [link] [comments] |

Screen Flashing and Can't do anything, not even factory reset :( Posted: 31 May 2019 10:11 PM PDT Hey everyone! I have a Samsung Galaxy A5 that's been a bit finicky lately. If it's on Auto brightness the screen randomly flashes a bright white light and causes my phone screen to be non-responsive at all. I accidentally switched on the function earlier today and for the past two hours nothing is able to let me access my phone or the lockscreen even shows up. The phone only responds to the lock button. Even a factory reset doesn't seem to be read by the phone, it doesn't do anything but flash. I'm not sure what's going on but maybe someone can give me insight on how to fix this, or is it just time to call it a day and put it to rest? I'm a student and I have plenty of academic interviews to be done next week so I'm in a bit of a panic. Thank you all for your help and advice! [link] [comments] |
My Galaxy S10e is immediately asking for PIN when I wake it up Posted: 31 May 2019 09:55 PM PDT Video posted on the S10 subreddit but no one was able to figure out what was wrong. This started happening 1-2 weeks back, and it's annoying me to no end. When I wake the screen to check the time, either by pressing the power button or double tapping the screen, it immediately asks for my PIN/fingerprint. Now I have to press the back button to dismiss the prompt to see the time. This happens 90% of the time, and 10% of the time it works as expected. I have tried rebooting into Safe Mode and the problem does not happen there. And I tried going to Device Care and stop all running background apps, and the problem also goes away for 10 seconds before returning - that's when I can go back to Device Care and see all the background apps have restarted. This seems to me that the culprit is one of those background apps. However, a lot of those are Samsung system apps that I cannot disable. I have also tried disabling fingerprints, but the problem persists: it then asks for my pattern/PIN instead. The only way for me to check the time with power button/double tap is to entirely remove pattern/PIN/fingerprints. I may be able to live with this except I use Google Pay extensively and that requires these lock options. I also tried disabling all the screen gestures e.g. double tap to wake, as well as always on display, but the problem continues. I am unsure if wiping the phone will help, if the culprit is a Samsung system app that once updated will bring back the problem. Did anyone face a similar issue on Samsung or other Android devices? Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
App that can download YouTube videos? Posted: 31 May 2019 03:38 PM PDT So I'm going on a long ass flight and looking for an app that can download YouTube videos. Last year I found a good one but lost my phone and forgot the name of the app. Anyone have any ideas of a decent app that can definitely download YouTube videos (as most video downloader apps don't allow YouTube videos to be downloaded)? Samsung Tab S5e high battery drain during night Posted: 31 May 2019 09:34 PM PDT Hi! I purchased a Samsung Tab S5e last week and I've been having a problem with the battery. During night it uses around 20% battery. I turn Wi-Fi off (it's wifi only model) and I also clear the apps I've used. I turn the screen off. My phone (Nokia 8) uses only 2-3% battery during night and it has under half of S5e's battery capacity (3000mah vs 7000mah). During use (when playing games or editing documents) S5e's battery lasts very long. I don't see any unexpected drainage. The only changes I've made to the machine is that I uninstalled some bloatware and installed reputable programs (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Discord, Hearthstone). I also have these on my phone and it only drains 2-3% battery each night. EDIT: also when I check what apps drain battery it shows steady draining and it says that Hearthstone and Google Play Store were the two apps that used huge amounts of battery. Hearthstone can't be the culprit since I only installed it yesterday and I've been having this problem since tuesday when I bought the device. [link] [comments] |
Switching to Android for privacy... and keeping stock ROM ? Posted: 31 May 2019 06:16 AM PDT Hey guys, I currently own an iPhone X and I am interested into switching to Android to get more privacy control over my OS. Being a tech enthusiast I'm hesitating between the S10+ and the OnePlus 7 Pro. Both being recently released they have no support for LineageOS and (it seems) no ROM without gapps included. My question : is keeping stock OS, rooting, and removing manually play services, gapps, installing XPrivacyLua, Adaway, Fdroid, flashing anti-telemetry scripts... efficient in limiting Google tracking of what I do with my phone ? Edit : Thanks for your input everyone. I'll wait for some AOSP ROMs to be available for these device before making a decision :) [link] [comments] |
Apps on Pixel phone freeze and require me to go to home screen and reenter? Posted: 31 May 2019 08:32 PM PDT I'll be using an app like Reddit, when it freezes and becomes non-responsive. If I exit to the home screen and reenter the app, it's perfectly fine. If I randomly swipe up or down on the app when it's frozen and then do the process described, the app when I reenter it will show a different set of posts, indicating that the app is still perfectly functional, only appearing to be frozen. How can I fix this? [link] [comments] |
Notifications seem to use media volume??? Posted: 31 May 2019 08:46 AM PDT I started having this weird issue a couple days ago where my notification volume has no bearing on how loud notifications are and notifications are just as loud as the media volume on my phone. Has anyone else had this problem? It's really frustrating because I'm having to change the media volume constantly to make my phone not be super obnoxious. I have a samsung galaxy s8 running android pie. I don't really have any idea how to approach this problem other than potentially resetting my phone :/ [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 May 2019 07:48 PM PDT Recently my battery has lost a lot of life, around the past 3 months and it's getting worse. AccuBattery says that my drain rate is the same regardless of whether my screen is on or off. Part of me thinks that this is a battery problem as it has been having some serious overheating issues recently, however the fact that it's nearly identical regardless of the screen being on or off makes me think it's software. Not really sure, but if someone else has a suggestion I'm all ears. I'm also having a slight burn in issue that I haven't had until very recently. I usually have some image remaining from the messages app, but an LCD Burn-in wiper fixed that. I've tried clearing out apps I don't use, disabling bloatware, restarting it, power cycling, disabling location services, and safe mode with only minor success (My 6 hour battery becomes a 6 and a half hour battery). For a background, I've had this phone since June 2018. It's been holding up well but battery life has slowly decreased overtime, but now it's horrendous when before it was normal decrease. Thanks! Mobile Device Management - What do I, as an employee, need to know about this? Posted: 31 May 2019 10:03 AM PDT My employer surprised me with this on my phone today. I think my options are to install this mystery app or remove my work Google account from my phone. https://i.redd.it/r8m200pwtk131.jpg I'm very privacy concerned, for example I don't want my employer to wipe or see private photos or monitor my reddit account. I looked at Google, but every result seemed to be a tutorial or brochure for GSuite admins instead of information for employees. What do I need to know about this before I decide to install it? Most Secure, Private and Anonymous Android OS? Posted: 31 May 2019 03:28 PM PDT Anyone know of any secure and private/anonymous android OS? I heard of Lineage OS. Are there any other similar (or better) kinds out there? How can I revert my Samsung S9 (Exynos) to a previous version? Posted: 31 May 2019 02:27 PM PDT The new update removed a lot of things I enjoyed, such as the vertical view of tabs as well as the ability to hide the navigation bar, which I always press by mistake. How can I revert my phone? [link] [comments] |
