6T getting hot and burning through battery

    Posted: 31 Mar 2019 03:00 PM PDT

Anyone else experience this? My phone gets hot and uses a ton of battery just during normal use. It shows that in the last 13 hours Google Play services is using 37% of the power. Does anyone have any insight?

Is OnePlus 6/6T able to sustain stable connection with Bluetooth and 2.4GHz WiFi used simultaneously?

    Posted: 31 Mar 2019 03:44 PM PDT

Hi, I am currently with OnePlus 3T and I bought Bluetooth headphones in order to adapt to the current trend of removing the 3.5mm jack.

However I am experiencing a lot of interruptions when listening to music via Bluetooth and browsing internet/Instagram/Twitter/etc. on the public transport or at my home on the 2.4G WiFi network. I have 5G network as well and I have zero issues with it, but the range is very limited and only available at home. I do understand how BT and WiFi works and why it's happening, so no need of explanation.

I am planning on getting OnePlus 7 as an upgrade to my 3T but this is a deal breaker for me since there is no headphone jack (and I want to use the internet while listening to music and changing my phone)

So are the latest generations of OP phones able to sustain stable connection with both WiFi and Bluetooth turned on?

Edit: forgot to mention that I was using Bluetooth while browsing on WiFi

Edit2: this is happening on Oreo and Pie Beta, however on Oreo the Bluetooth audio often cuts regardless of the codec used, on Pie is a lot better but I'm stuck on aptX (not HD) or SBC

    What to Expect?

    Posted: 31 Mar 2019 05:50 PM PDT

Just ordered a 6t 6gb! It should arrive tomorrow. I'm coming over from the iPhone 5s which I've had for about a year. Before that I had a myriad of budget androids (Moto G's mainly). What should I expect from my new phone? What are the first things I should do? What are some important things to note?

    Thanks!

How can I clean my OP6 speaker grille?

    Posted: 31 Mar 2019 04:18 PM PDT

I have accumulated a lot gunk on my bottom speaker grille. I've tried the blue-tack method but that seems to pick up only loose dirt. I have a good layer of it in my grille which shows as white at certain angles. Can I use a toothpick to loosen the dirt? Will it damage the inside of it?

OnePlus Switch app good enough when doing factory reset?

    Posted: 31 Mar 2019 07:18 AM PDT

So I'm thinking about doing the T-Mobile -> International conversion and was wondering if the OnePlus Switch app backs up everything or if there are certain things I need to back up manually or just mark down.

    On screen buttons cover games

    Posted: 31 Mar 2019 12:53 PM PDT

So lots of games I play require swipe left/right action, and all games run in full screen. However, once I'm in an action game, when I swipe from right the on screen buttons show up, and the notification bar as well. This causes problems as the "skill moves" become hidden behind the buttons. Is there a way to force my screen resolution to not render behind the buttons? Currently I found that "Smallest Width" on developer options will force the phone to display the buttons from below as if a tablet. I don't like this since text becomes too slow. Is there a workaround given I've root and magisk? OnePlus 6T.

    OnePlus 3 known hardware issues

    Posted: 31 Mar 2019 06:21 AM PDT

I bought my OnePlus 3 in July 2016, in November 2017 I had the screen and motherboard changed by OnePlus. I'm thinking about changing the battery, but it would be wiser to buy a new phone if some part of the phone is prone to failure.

What do you think, how should the future of OnePlus be like?

    Posted: 31 Mar 2019 11:52 AM PDT

I think everything that OnePlus does is now becoming the norm. I'm a user since the OPO days and having had the 3T and 5 afterwards. Pretty much a loyal customer. Now I'm on an iPhone 8 Plus which Is an incredible phone with too less storage space (64GB just isn't enough for me). My first option is the new iPhone XS. But the new prices are just ridiculous (and I'm sure the next generation will become unaffordable and f Apple in advance if they do that) so I'm looking into Android again. Here's what I've noticed.

Please note that this is not an attack, but more a discussion. Also to help me decide and convince on what I should do. One of biggest downsides is the investment in the Apple ecosystem (I haven't gotten the watch or AirPods, but I have some apps that I paid for).

    • OnePlus is not the cheapest flagship anymore, many alternatives that are much cheaper.
    • OnePlus does not have a great camera. Some cheaper phones have better cameras.
    • OnePlus does not have the fastest charging speed anymore.
    • OnePlus got rid of a few key distinguishing features (LED light, great FP scanner and 3,5MM jack)
    • OnePlus does not have the best battery or battery life.
    • OnePlus is not including a lot of key requested feature by users (Wireless charging, expendable storage, IP rating, USB 2.0, stereo speakers, higher resolution display)

Now I must mention: I also think, they have a few great things going for them.

    • OnePlus is one of the last few companies that have made unlocking your boot loader a piece of cake.
    • OnePlus has the amazing alert slider that (from my memory) is truly unique in the entire Android landscape.
    • OnePlus has moderately fast updates. They are somewhere in the top.
    • OnePlus has a stock experience (almost no bloat) (although, I'm leaning towards having more stock features from Emui or One UI lately).

What would they have to do to live up to the hype again? I'm not sure what would be the better option if they bump the price to 700 dollars/euros. With a contract, the Huawei P30 Pro and the Galaxy S10 are way cheaper than buying them without. My extra monthly costs are so low that they are negligible. There are also budget kings like Xiaomi phones and last gen phones (S9, XZ3 and LG G7).

I think for starters it would be really nice if the OP7 would get wireless charging with an even bigger battery. I personally don't mind the jack going away, but instead I'd love stereo speakers. That would convince me to go to the OP7 immediately.

Oneplus 3 not gaining any charge

    Posted: 31 Mar 2019 01:54 AM PDT

So I just normally leave my phone for charging overnight like always. It's the standard dash charger and cable. I wake up, the thing just keeps turning on with the standard flash that shows the phones activated and goes off. No low/no battery warning, nada.

So I plug it to charge, and find out that the switch is off. Okay cool. So I turn the switch on and wait for it a little bit and turn it on. 0% battery. I use it a little bit and it's not gaining any charge whatsoever, it's stuck at 0% and when I plug it out of the charger, it shows 1% and shortly turns off at 0%. I've changed the cable and the same is happening even for that.

As I'm typing this up, my phone has started charging thankfully, but can anyone explain whats happening? I really don't want this happening again as I'm at my friends house.

    Op6t Screen protector

    Posted: 31 Mar 2019 03:15 AM PDT

Can any UK users point me in the direction of a screen protector similar to the original one supplied with the phone? I bought a tempered glass one but it messes up the finger print scanner.

    Thanks

    6t Ring Volume issue

    Posted: 31 Mar 2019 10:27 AM PDT

How do you turn down the volume for alerts, messages and calls?

If I remember correctly when i first got my 6t it was easy to change volume of media such as music & volume of alerts/calls when you pressed the volume rockers. No it seems only media comes up with a slider when pressing volume rocker and then have to click on the gear icon of that toggle to go to volume settings to change ringer volume.

Sudden very high battery usage: OnePlus2

    Posted: 31 Mar 2019 01:44 AM PDT

In the past few days my phone battery has started to die overnight, going from ~50% to ~5% despite "battery saver" being on.

This seems too sudden to be general battery degregation.

Battery usage in settings doesn't show any particular app to blame, just System (I think).

Anyone else experiencing the same problem? Is there something I need to uninstall/update a Google play update or something?

How do i get this new dark mode for Google app/search? It says i should just update the app and it will appear automatically.

I'm using OP6 with latest Pie and Google app updates and I can't find a way to enable it.

    Any ideas?

No way to backup files to PC?

    Posted: 31 Mar 2019 08:42 AM PDT

I currently have 200 gigs worth of Images and Videos on my OP6 that I want to put on a backup hard drive, however I can't find a single way to do so.

I have tried MTP and a USB connection and the file transfer is always incomplete or fails near the end.

USB OTG also doesn't work well because my HDD shuts down after a couple of minutes probably due to the lack of power.

Isn't there a way to just have normal Mass Storage mode when using a USB connection like Androids of old? Or an application to backup.

Phone won't turn on and none of the buttons work :((

    Posted: 31 Mar 2019 07:53 AM PDT

Posting here for some advice. Im trying to transfer some photos from my old OnePlus 3T to a new phone since it's so horribly broken (none of the buttons work) and i mistakenly let it run out of battery.

I have plugged it in and it's fully charged, but without any of the buttons i'm unsure how to turn it on. Can anyone help?

My OnePlus 6T unexpectedly shut off

    Posted: 30 Mar 2019 11:54 PM PDT

I'm writing this to see if anyone else has encountered the same problem with their OP6T device.

A couple days ago, I was using my OP6T browsing reddit when my device screen unexpectedly went black. A display message in red appeared showing that my battery was critically low and needed charging in order to continue. The problem was that my battery had over 50% charge prior to the shut down.

This worries me as my hypothesis is that:

    1. I have been receiving an incorrect battery percentage reading
    2. There is a problem with the battery on my relatively new device

I was unable to get a response from the phone as I tried all methods to hard reboot it. After I plugged in and charged the phone, it showed that my battery was at 1%. I went into settings and checked on my battery usage levels. As I expected, the graph indicated a battery percentage of over 50% prior to the shut down (screenshots below).

Some info about my OP6T if it helps:

    Build number - A6010_41_190123

    OxygenOS version - 9.0.12

    Android version - 9

Device is not rooted or on any public betas

New Official Battery for OnePlus 3T?

    Posted: 31 Mar 2019 06:30 AM PDT

My OnePlus 3T is working like a charm, the only issue is the reduced battery life...
How much will it cost to get a new Battery from OnePlus? is it worth it?
