Posted: 01 Oct 2018 11:59 AM PDT Hi! I need to buy a laptop for the university. I'm completely new to this world as I always used (and built) desktop pcs. So, my budget is around 400€, I need at least a Full HD display (not sure about the dimensions as I dunno what's gonna work best) and a good battery duration. I'm gonna use it for almost everything, so streaming videos, films, listening to music, using office apps, note taking but it also has to be capable to run most "engineering" programs (not things such as photoshop or video editing, or at least they're not the main priority). If you need any other information in order to help me out feel free to ask. Thanks. [link] [comments]
ASUS Zenbook UX430UA or HP Envy 13 Ah0001na for 699£? Posted: 01 Oct 2018 06:48 AM PDT Both have similar specs, i5 8250U 8GB of ram(LLPDDR3) 256GB SSD, HP also has MX150 Dedicated GPU and touchscreen. I'm interested which one of them has the better screen. Many Thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Oct 2018 09:59 AM PDT Hello, I heard that nVidia MX150 have 2 versions. A better version (1D10) and a lowered performance version (1D12). My question is which one Acer Swift 3 sf314-54g have? Thanks [link] [comments]
Trading 2015 Macbook Pro 13" 125GB for ASUS Zenbook 3 Deluxe UX390UA worth it? Posted: 01 Oct 2018 12:59 PM PDT I'm thinking of switching from macOS to something I can game on. Specifically interested in Overwatch, R6 Siege, and other modern games. I have this offer for a ASUS Zenbook, and I'm wondering if you guys think it's a good deal? [link] [comments]
Anyone got experience With selling their gaming pc and getting a laptop? Posted: 01 Oct 2018 02:48 AM PDT Right now I'm studying more than ever and I don't like my PC distracting me, I need something I'm able to put away to study at my desk. Getting a laptop would also be nice as I can bring it to school and the library. Right now If I sell my PC and add some saved money I got a budget of about 800/850. Is getting a silent + high end laptop possible for such a budget? [link] [comments]

Laptop speakers aren't working correctly. Posted: 01 Oct 2018 11:43 AM PDT My apologies if this isn't the correct place to post something like this, but I haven't found a single solution yet to this problem of mine. Also, I can't tell if this is a hardware or a software issue so excuse me if the flair is incorrect as well. So I own the Dell Inspiron 7567 gaming laptop and it comes with the "Waves MaxxAudio Pro" software to switch between different audio outputs. It used to show "External Speakers / Internal Speakers" for the "Select Output Device" option, but now the only option that appears are the internal speakers. I've tried reinstalling the Realtek audio drivers multiple times and even resulted to reinstalling Windows 10, but nothing seems to be the solution. The difference in audio quality is astronomical when the external speakers aren't taken into play. I'd appreciate *any* help on this issue, as I've not been able to find a solution to this yet. Is a i7 6700k still worth buying at the end of 2018? Posted: 01 Oct 2018 10:51 AM PDT Hello, just a quick question. I have a friend that wants to sell his i7 6700k for $200 (or 170 euro). Currently, I have an i3 6100 and a GTX 1060, with 3 gb. So yea, just curious if $200 is worth it. My main question is that if it will "survive" the next 2-3 years. I feel like I need an upgrade, because my i3 can't really run very smooth the new games, also, I can't afford that much for a pc. So yea, is $200 dollars, for a i7 6700k worth the money? Looking for some confirmation on the Huawei Matebook X Pro Posted: 01 Oct 2018 10:37 AM PDT Hi, like the title says I want to know if anyone on here has any personal experience with the Matebook X Pro especially with regards to battery life and overall longevity in terms of performance, build, and cooling. I'm especially interested in the i7 model. I know it's pretty specific, but thanks in advance if you reply. [link] [comments]
Owners of ACER Swift 3, have you upgraded RAM? Is it possible? Posted: 01 Oct 2018 10:12 AM PDT I read A LOT of different answers on this question. I am gonna get 8 GB model and I need to upgrade it in the future. [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Oct 2018 10:03 AM PDT Hey guys, After a long time carrying round my chunky t430s thinkpad its finally died on me and i need to get myself a new laptop. I mostly use it just for coding and general web browsing whilst at college or on the move. I've looked at Chromebooks but i don't feel they will cut it at the coding part and i don't need a another 15" chunky laptop to carry around so i've been looking at the surface range. One of my options is the surface Go with a pentium processor (:/ my thoughts exactly) and 8gb (which surprised me very much). It also includes it on graphics chip which look reasonably good and a 128gb SSD which is plenty of space as all of my documents are just coding based. The 2nd option would be a surface pro which presents another dilemma, the surface pro with an M3 or with an i5. The M3 only has 4gb of ram and the I5 has eight. the challenge is really trying to work out will the M3 be enough to handle coding or should i just fork out the extra £100 and get the i5 to (future proof ect.) Any help and suggestions is appreciated and I thank you in advance. Ben [link] [comments]

Is this laptop really worth over $500? Posted: 01 Oct 2018 07:39 AM PDT Seems a bit steep for it, but most websites have it priced around that. If not, what would it realistically be worth (brand new)? I won it through a work contest but don't need it. I'm curious how much I could sell it for on Craigslist/eBay. Thanks! Need some help for my first laptop! Posted: 01 Oct 2018 06:27 AM PDT Hello everyone! I'm going to buy my first laptop next weekend and while I have some idea I think I need help as I would like not to make mistakes. Here's some important information: -I live in Toronto (Canada) -My priority is to play games, maybe at a hardcore level (20+ hours week). -I can't buy a desktop because I need some portability and my apartment is just small to put a big box plus screen in there, but my laptop would be a desktop replacement and hardly ever will be moving outside. -My max budget is 2000 Canadian $. Is it possible to get a good laptop at that price for my needs? I plan to play online games such Ark Survival, League of legends, some upcoming mmorpgs... But also single player that can be graphic demanding (such cyberpunk or dying light 2). Thanks for reading! [link] [comments]

Asus Zenbook Pro UX550GE vs Dell XPS 15 9570 Posted: 30 Sep 2018 05:58 PM PDT I'm a programmer and I am in doubt whether I should get the: UX550GE - Intel i7 8750H - 16 GB RAM - 512GB SSD - 1050 Ti 4GB GDDR5 - Non-touch 1080p LCD screen XPS 15 9570 - Intel i7 8750H - 16 GB RAM - 512GB SSD - 1050 Ti 4GB GDDR5 - Non-touch 1080P IPS screen I've read/heard many articles and people saying that both have thermal issues and coil whining. However, I still don't know if the extra $350 (for the XPS) are really worth it. Thoughts? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Sep 2018 08:29 PM PDT Hi. Hopefully this isn't against the rules (I read through them so I don't think so) but my BIL wants to buy my laptop from me and I have no idea what is a fair price. Its a two year old laptop but a lot of the components are still currently relevant. Can anyone give me a ballpark as to what is a fair price?
