The Xiaomi ADB/Fastboot Tools receives the first major update and goes open-source Posted: 29 Apr 2018 07:35 AM PDT Hi everyone! So the Xiaomi ADB/Fastboot Tools, a Windows application I published on the subreddit about 6 weeks ago, receives its first major update (version 2.0) and I am also making it open-source and thus available for everyone to inspect the code or compile the program for themselves. A quick rundown on the features and changes if you can't be bothered to check the OP: Features:
Warning: Use the tool at your own risk. Removing factory apps which aren't in the tool may break your phone. Changelog: [link] [comments]

Mi note 3 (with Google Camera) compared to Canon G9x Posted: 29 Apr 2018 02:06 PM PDT So I spent a bit of time today taking a few pictures with my Mi Note 3 and Canon G9x. The G9x has a much bigger 1" sensor, and it has 20 MP. At the widest angle, they are both F 1/8 and have a similar FL (24 vs 26 mm equivalent). In most of the pictures, the G9x came out better, but in some (the first one) I think the Mi Note 3 is better. Each scene has 6 pictures, in this order: G9x jpeg, G9x raw, Mi note 3, and the same order but with a cropped part so you can look at 100%. One scene has only 5 pictures, because the G9x raw failed to upload for some reason. The RAWs were developed in RawTherapee and except for the last shot I didn't use any noise reduction. Xiaomi Forcing Apps onto MIUI users... Posted: 29 Apr 2018 12:17 AM PDT Xiaomi's MIUI is forcing the use of it's Applications Like Mi-App. It Continuesly push notifications and there is No way to stop or uninstall it. They even have disabled the "Hide notification" option that hides unwanted notification. They don't allow to stop data access to it. and sometimes automatically updates app like Facebook or instagram.. Wtf Xiaomi!! [link] [comments]

What ever happened to that Xiaomi TV Soundbar? Did anyone buy one? Posted: 29 Apr 2018 06:59 PM PDT Was released April 3rd, but I haven't heard anything about it other than a Russian review on youtube. Gearbest is selling them here I'm looking for a speaker solution for my TV and playing music at home. I like the minimal style of this new Xiaomi soundbar but definitely want some reviews first. Anyone bought one or thinking of buying one? [link] [comments]
[Help] Removing sound on selecting the time Posted: 29 Apr 2018 05:34 PM PDT Hi, i have an xiaomi redmi 5A and i want to remove the sound when i select the time to the alarm. I cant find where i can do that. The clicking sound bothers me. [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Apr 2018 01:32 PM PDT Hey there everyone, After swinging between AOSP ROM's and what not, I'm considering going back to MIUI for the screen mirroring over DLNA. (I need to stream the screen, not just a media file.) I'd appreciate it if you could recommend MIUI ROMs. Last time I checked, there was Mi Globe. Also, would like to ask a few things: Is it possible to screen mirror via DLNA using a third party app? Is there anyway I can directly flash the AOSP notification tray? Not the newly designed MIUI one... Thank you! [link] [comments]
Should we expect a new vacuum this year or is that updated less than once a year? Posted: 29 Apr 2018 08:14 AM PDT
Posted: 29 Apr 2018 04:44 AM PDT I like my new Mi A1, but one thing that is really bothering is that proximity sensor is apparently not working as it should. During calls, I frequently inadvertently switch to speaker with my face. I read that several others have the same problem. When the phone is ringing in my pocket and I take it take it out, in 90% of the cases I either accept or reject the call (depending on whether I put it in the pocket upside down) while pulling it out. It's as if the proximity sensor wasn't working, however when tested using a separate sensor app, it appears to be working perfectly. Any ideas? [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Apr 2018 03:53 PM PDT Hello guys. I'm looking for a bedside lamp and came across the Xiaomi Mijia Bedside Lamps. My questions are: 1- Can the lamp act as a wake up lamp ? Let's say turn on at 7am from a very dim light to bright light simulating sunrise without any alarm sound ? 2- is it powerful enough to light up a whole bedroom ? 3 - Can it stream music over Bluetooth or Wifi ? Let's say I wanna listen to my 80s pop playlist on Spotify before I sleep. Is it possible ? Thanks [link] [comments]
Does most of xiaomi phones phones uses poor quality of power and volumes buttons? Posted: 28 Apr 2018 11:34 PM PDT I had a redmi note 2 last time, current uses a redmi note 4x and 1 xiaomi note 4x for father, older redmi note 3 for mother. All my 4 xiaomi phones power buttons and volume buttons starts to be unressposive and dent inwards after a year of useage. Does this issue happen to anyone else or am i just unlucky 4 times? Question about restoring a backup on the MI A1 Posted: 29 Apr 2018 02:52 PM PDT So I copied all of the files from my LG G3 onto my computer. I'm just wondering if I can restore all of those files on my MI A1? Do I just copy and paste them? [link] [comments]
I'm going to move to a new apartment and want to start out with a smart home setup Posted: 29 Apr 2018 10:04 AM PDT I've already got the air purifier, a lot of rgb bulbs and a ceiling lamp as well as the bed lamp. What else would be recommended? I'm considering the AC unit as well. It'll be summer soon. [link] [comments]
How do I update/reinstall the OS on my Redmi 3s? Posted: 29 Apr 2018 07:47 AM PDT I live in Canada and I bought a Redmi 3s about a year and a half ago from Ebay. It worked well at first, although it had some weird pop-up ads once I a while. I disabled the app behind them and everything was fine from there. It definitely isn't meant to be used in Canada but I haven't had any network problems so far. I haven't installed many apps, I really just use it for music, messaging, reddit, and maps. But over time the phone has gotten way slower and has started to lag out and hang on simple tasks. Is there a safe way to install or update a new OS on this phone? It is running android 6.0.1 and MIUI 7.5. Nothing shows up to install under the "system update". [link] [comments]

Mi Box 3 remote doesn't work with latest OS update Posted: 29 Apr 2018 10:31 AM PDT FYI, the remote is synched but the box won't receive any commands from it. Only way around it is to use the Android TV remote app. I've removed / added the remote again a few times now and nothing. Batteries are also new. [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Apr 2018 09:29 AM PDT Hi I live in Ireland and am considering buying a Redmi 5 Plus to replace my failing iPhone 5c. Before I pull the trigger on the purchase I wanted to ask some questions here in the hopes somebody can help clarify some things for me first. Please keep in mind I'm new to the Xiaomi universe so would appreciate any input you may have. My first concern is that I'm getting the right phone, Xiaomi don't make it easy for first time buyers with their confusing naming structure (eg. Redmi 5, Redmi 5 Plus, Redmi Note 5 Pro, Redmi Note 5A, Redmi Note 5 Prime). Here is a link to the exact phone I was going to buy and I think this is the phone that is called "Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 (Redmi 5 Plus)" on this site(I tried to add a direct link but the URL had brackets in it so it wouldn't work). Could somebody verify for me if they're the same product? The specs seem to match up but I just want to make sure Secondly I am on the 3 mobile network and wanted to make sure the bands in the phone would work for me. I tried to use https://willmyphonework.net/ to check if the Redmi 5 plus would work where I live but it didn't have an option for this phone so I selected the Redmi Note 4 assuming the two would be similar ( I looked their specs up and they seem to have all the same bands, the Redmi 5 Plus has one extra). Is it a safe assumption to think that I will get similar performance to that listed for the Redmi Note 4? I have been shopping around on different sites and found this website called The Solution Shop that offers the Redmi 5 Plus for €145 including shipping and with tax paid. This seems very low compared to other sites I found such as this €168 Redmi 5 Plus from Hong Kong Goldway on Aliexpress. Would you recommend either of these services vs one another. Both list that they are global versions of the phone but the solution shop version specifies English and the Aliexpress one has an image in the ad with Spanish, Polish and Russian circled as the languages but not English. I also couldn't find any written reviews from an English speaking user to confirm the phone worked on either listing. Both links are to the 4gb 64gb version in the same colour. I don't mind spending extra money to make sure I get a legit product but if they're both safe I may as well save the €23 and buy a Mi Band 2 or something with it. I have also seen pictures of a Redmi 5 Note Pro and the specs for that seem better but I can't seem to find reliable links to buy it, is this phone available for people in Europe? would you recommend it over the Redmi 5 Plus? Thanks in advance for your help, excited to join the Xiaomi family [link] [comments]
Enabling API2 Camera on Stock MIUI Posted: 29 Apr 2018 08:58 AM PDT Hello, I have a Redmi 4X on MIUI 9.5.4.0 and I want to root it to use the GoogleCamera, I'd like to keep MIUI and my data, but I'm a little confused. I already have permission to unlock the bootloader, the next step is to flash TWRP, but the wiki says that is only for custom roms, so what do I have to do? Also, what's the deal with the dm-verity thing? Thank you so much! [link] [comments]
