Can not log in. Windows Help

Can not log in. Windows Help

    Can not log in.

    Posted: 01 Mar 2018 04:11 PM PST

I really need help, my computer has been working perfectly fine all day then all of a sudden every time I try to load up anything it is popping up with "The program can't start because OLEAUT32.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program"

Once I get past all of that and try to log in it then says "The group policy client service failed the logon" so I can not even log on to my computer.

This has happened out of the blue after it has been working perfectly. I'm on Windows 7 the computer is fairly old around 3 years however it's always been kept in good condition, it is custom built and is still a good pc, please help.

Upgrading to windows 10 from windows 7

    Posted: 01 Mar 2018 04:57 PM PST

During the free upgrade period I didn't upgrade from 7 to 10 but now I'm thinking of getting a windows mixed reality headset and see that I must be on windows 10. I remember reading that using a windows 7 activation key on windows 10 works. Before I even waste time trying does anyone know if this doesn't work?

Chinese Language Packs In The Enterprise

    Posted: 01 Mar 2018 04:40 PM PST

    Hello /r/windows

For the past few weeks, I've had a user in my environment ask me to install a Chinese Traditional (Taiwan) Language pack on his travel laptop. With me being the nice helpful person I am I said sure why not. He wants to use the Language Pack with the On Screen Keyboard to type in Chinese in MS Word. He currently has this setup with his office computer and it works like a champ but it seems to not work with his new laptop. On the laptop he can't type Chinese into any application unless he uses the physical keyboard but he needs to use the touch keyboard to see the Chinese characters. On his office machine he has the following configuration.

Office Machine: OS: Windows 10 1511 Language Pack: Chinese Traditional (Taiwan) Keyboard: Microsoft Bopomofo MS Word Chinese Language Pack: Not Installed

Laptop: OS: Windows 10 1709 Language Pack: Chinese Traditional (Taiwan) Keyboard: Microsoft Bopomofo MS Word Chinese Language Pack: Not Installed

All of the settings are the same on both machines except the only difference is the Build of Windows. I'm wondering if anyone else on Sysadmin has had similar issues and if so do they have a fix for it.

    Thanks, TheDeadGPU

Creating a bootable USB drive with Media Creation Tool - ERROR

    Posted: 01 Mar 2018 04:21 PM PST

I was using the Media Creation Tool to install Windows 10 on a Linux system I'm no longer using (I did this on my other PC with Windows 10). The tool got to 50% before it froze and didn't move for a couple of hours. I cancelled the task and it said it was clearing some things up before it would finish. This also sat idle for a while, and I couldn't close the program. I also tried to force close it with Task Manager to no avail. I then did a hard reset of my PC (shutdown in Windows also wasn't responding), and now I'm not able to access the flash drive. Windows says it needs to be formatted before use, but once I try it says that "Windows was unable to format". The drive then disappears. If I unplug it and plug it back in, I can see it in File Explorer but not in Disk Management. Then as soon as I try formatting again it leaves File Explorer. I've tried all different file types etc. Does anyone have some ideas or did Windows just brick my flash drive?

Bluetooth xbox controller causing games to stutter w10

    Posted: 01 Mar 2018 02:41 PM PST

As the title says, when i connect my controller via my bluetooth 4.0 in w10 they produce stuttering in my games... Tested with Witcher 3,Steep,Nioh etc... When i connect it wired stutters doesn't exist...

Why is that? Is ms lazy to fix their bluetooth service?

Asus Haswell (and maybe newer?) users: Did you find a fix for the AI Suite drivers locking up Windows after the recent (presumably) Spectre/etc patches?

    Posted: 01 Mar 2018 12:04 PM PST

I've got a Haswell 4770 PC with the Z87 Deluxe/Dual board that I was in no hurry to replace, but it's proving quite annoying since I found the AI Suite (and specifically the fan control part of it) would just cause the PC to lock up after a while after recent MS updates.

It's not OC'd so I don't need that component, but where I have it in use I want the fan control - specifically the ability of the AI Suite to turn fans off when not needed - back.

    Keyboard and mouse not working

    Posted: 01 Mar 2018 02:58 PM PST

I came home from a trip today to find that the keyboard and mouse on my computer are no longer working. I tried plugging them into other spots and they work fine. I can use them in the bios and inside of the startup repair screen. But once inside of windows it stops working.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Airplane mode won't turn off

    Posted: 01 Mar 2018 02:31 PM PST

Last night I ran a virus scan in safe mode. Now, whenever I click to turn off airplane mode, it just turns back on immediately. I have been doing a lot of searching, and have found no answers. Has anybody else had this problem? How was it solved?

    Windows Freezing/Crashing

    Posted: 01 Mar 2018 04:14 AM PST

    Hi,

Bit of a strange issue, a few weeks ago my home PC started acting strangely.

    1) The windows button and the task bar give me issues, I have to right click and left click multiple times on the windows button for it to even register, and often I'm unable to type into it.

    2) All programs suddenly freeze up, and eventually will unfreeze about 30 seconds later. Worth noting I am still able to move my cursor around, but unable to click or get to task manger.

    3) Entire OS will freeze up and eventually crash, forcing me to turn off the computer with my cases power button.

I also realized today that this is happening to two more PC's at the office, those two plus mine are running Windows 10 and fully updated. Just seeing if anyone else has similar issues or knows if this could be a Windows issue?

    Thanks

gdh30.dll and COMDLG#2.dll error when installing mobile Internet stick on Windows 10?

    Posted: 01 Mar 2018 06:15 AM PST

    Hey everyone.

After having deinstalled my mobile Internet stick (by ZTE MF 831) on Windows 10 and trying to reinstall it, all I get is the message "gdh30.dll not found" and "COMDLG#2.dll not found". The deinstallation worked perfectly fine on Windows 10 though.

I know that is this a very specific question but does anyone know what this could indicate and is there any way I can fix it?

    Thanks so much

    Windows 10 update reseted laptop.

    Posted: 01 Mar 2018 08:49 AM PST

    Hello,

My dad did a Windows 10 update earlier (it took quite a while so he went shopping in the mean time) and when he got back all of his apps/programs were removed and he get this message: http://prntscr.com/ilgsfk

I know it's not English but it says: "Apps removed during the reset of your PC". The apps listed are pretty much everything he has installed on his laptop. I do not understand why this happened or if this is even allowed. Is there anyway to undo this? The laptop is not the fastest and having to reinstall everything manually, getting his mails back, all his bookmarks etc in chrome, etc... will take such a long time.

Why is windows update becoming so aggressive in what it does lately? It does this stuff, it restarts on its own without warning and often when you do an update you have more issues than before. I'm no expert in all of this and i probably don't know what i'm saying but to me windows update is honestly becoming very annoying (more so than it already was).

Anyway, i hope anyone can help me with this. Thank you

Weird sound everytime I press the "^/°" key on my keyboard.

    Posted: 01 Mar 2018 03:26 AM PST

I don't know if this is the right sub but I don't know where else to put this.

So since a couple of months every time I use my " ^ / ° " key I get a weird sound. It is difficult to describe it but it kinda sounds like a dull error sound message. Anyone an idea what can cause this?

Edit: I am using a Ultimate Razer Black Widow (german layout) The key in the top left corner: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/36/KB_Germany.svg/550px-KB_Germany.svg.png

    Edit2:

here is what is sounds like when I press this key multiple times: https://clyp.it/yhhlqfsz There is a sound when I press and when I release the key.

Final edit: I finally resolved the issue. I am just an idiot. It was the mute microphone sound from discord all along.

Nvidia Control Panel is Japanese on the Control Panel

    Posted: 01 Mar 2018 12:22 AM PST

But the actual program is in English. My unicode system is already English and I did change it to Japanese once and back but it's still Japanese on the control panel and it's kinda annoying and I want to know if anyone knows a fix for this.

Edit: Woah just as I replied to people it changed back to English weird. I have no idea how that happened but thank you to everyone who helped.
