S8+: Android System killing battery life Posted: 19 Feb 2018 05:39 PM PST For the past few weeks, I've been noticing my battery has been draining way faster than normal. My SOT is now <4 hours when it used to easily reach 6 hours, and I have no idea what is causing Android system to consume more battery than SOT or anything else. I don't see any other apps active that would cause the battery to drain, so is there any other ideas to fix this? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Feb 2018 02:20 PM PST Was shopping in Walmart and mentioned that I needed to return a thermometer. When we left Walmart, my phone had a Google notification about returns at Walmart. When I pressed the notification it did a search for Walmart returns. How is this happening? It did it before asking to review a restaurant we just left from. [link] [comments] |

Bluetooth Controller - Android pairing issue Posted: 19 Feb 2018 09:06 PM PST So I bought an 8bitdo NES30 Gamepad. I'm a huge Nintendo fan and couldn't wait to play NES games with a controller that has rave reviews. I paired it with my phone and lo and behold, it simultaneously controls both the phone and the emulator. Its unusable. I tried a different emulator, same issue. I tried 6 different emulators. Same issue. For example. I'm trying to play Super Mario 3. I press A to jump. At the same time Mario jumps, the controller triggers split screen mode on the phone. When I run to the left, the controller triggers both the game, and the phone changes app. I have tried re-mapping the buttons on the controller, on the phone, forcing full screen mode, everything. I also reached out to 8bitdo who basically said "not our issue". I can't seem to find anyone online having this issue despite a million different Google searches to try and find a work around. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
LG G6 restarts after taking a picture Posted: 19 Feb 2018 05:14 PM PST Hey guys, im having a very weird issue, like i said in the title whenever i take a picture the phone reboots. Possible issues: 1. : insuficient storage space - got 20GB free 2. : phone cache corrupted - already went to settings and cleared cache 3. : some installed app is causing this - booted phone into safe mode and it still happened 4. : recording a video causes the reboot aswell - it does not, i also tried swapping from the wide lens to the normal one, tried changing the photo resolution, turning HDR off Can someone suggest something else i can try? thank you very much. Whats the longest cycle you got from one charge? Posted: 19 Feb 2018 03:22 PM PST Whats the longest cycle (sot and standby) that you got on one charge? What device, version of android, and apps did you use to acheive this (also how was your dell signal if you remember)? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Feb 2018 08:17 PM PST Hi everyone, I purchased the LeEco le max 2 x829 from China nearly a year ago and have one major issue that I need fixed or I need to replace it. When I'm in my house it often times takes forever for my phone to actually begin dialing once i hit dial... Like its trying to connect. Sometimes it does not connect at all and just hangs up. And when I'm in my house, typically when I'm in my basement, people will call me and my phone will not ring or show that I have a missed call. Why did I keep this phone for this long? You can't beat the hardware this thing has for the price. Additional information: Cricket Wireless is my service provider and i'm in area code 44646 in the U.S.. I bought an LG stylo 3 earlier as a replacement and I miss having the hardware the le max 2 has. If I can't get this fixed I will return the stylo either way, but I'm going to go buy the google pixel 2 xl. I just would rather not buy another smart phone right now considering mine has at least another year left in it. Thank you for the help! [link] [comments] |
Is There a Reason Why Some of My Apps Outdated? Posted: 19 Feb 2018 07:02 PM PST Phone: Samsung Galaxy S8 So I was browsing around the APKMirror website and was just checking apps that I already have installed on my phone. I compared the latest version on the website to the version I have installed on my phone and was surprised that I have an outdated version on my phone. I checked with a couple more apps and found the same thing. I manually check my updates through Play Store and Galaxy Apps but they say there aren't any new updates. I manually checked the Play Store version and also noticed that it was out-of-date and manually updated but still the same issue. Another example Samsung Internet: Phone version: 6.2.01.12 APKMirror version: 6.4.10.5 I'm about 3 updates behind on this even though it says it's up-to-date. I'm going to try and answer my own question by saying it may be different on different phones, but would like to here what you guys have to say about this. [link] [comments] |
How can I tell which app is using my GPS right now? Posted: 19 Feb 2018 10:02 AM PST Sometimes, I see the location icon light up on my status bar. Additionally I have an app which tells me whenever GPS location is being requested, called GPS Status. It's showing me that some app is abusing my GPS. Android's built-in setting for recent location is in alphabetical order and not in chronological order, so therefore I can't see which app is actively tracking at the moment. [link] [comments] |
Why is GBoard covering the send button in Hangouts in immersive mode? Posted: 19 Feb 2018 04:02 PM PST https://i.imgur.com/ETvCsTx.png Pixel 2 XL, 8.1 if that matters. It is very annoying, as I keep immersive mode always on to avoid navbar / status bar burn in. Anyone know of a solution? [link] [comments] |
Is it possible to Download a game on PC and transfer to tablet? Posted: 19 Feb 2018 04:01 PM PST I recently bought Baldurs Gate 2 from the Play Store, and I dont have the best internet so I left it to download overnight and when it finished finally it says an error has occurred and cant be installed, please try again. So I try again and it starts the 2gig download all over. Is there a way I can download the game on PC and then transfer to my tablet, since my PC is connected by cable and not WiFi and so will theoretically be a faster and better download? Does anyone make an android device with no battery? Posted: 19 Feb 2018 11:22 AM PST I have been using some android tablets and phones for some home automation tasks over the years. They are plugged in and charging 24/7. Eventually, the batteries in these things start to bulge and stop working. I'm concerned that one day I will have one catch fire. I've tried completely removing the batteries from devices and just powering via USB, but that doesn't work with any of them that I've tried. I want a 7" or larger android device that will operate without a battery, or didn't come with one in the first place. I have an HP Slate Pro 21, but that is a bit too large for the area where I need it and it only runs 4.x. [link] [comments] |
My battery keeps increasing but im not charging Posted: 19 Feb 2018 06:06 PM PST Title. It started at like 60% and increased to as of now, 92%. I did recently replaced my battery, and I'm using and LG g4. Thanks [link] [comments] |
How to get Google maps to update my location when driving? Posted: 19 Feb 2018 03:41 PM PST I never had this problem before with my previous HTC M8 and HTC10. Recently got a Honor 7X and so far everything has been working great except for google maps. So I set a destination and drive there, when I am on the road and don't follow the recommended route, it does not seem to update with my location until after I passed that cross street. The navigation lines also do not update. In the near future I will be driving a lot for work to different locations and am trying to get my google maps to give second per second updates to my route and actual location. Steps I have taken:

Pre-order vs in-store carrier purchases? Posted: 19 Feb 2018 03:25 PM PST Hi, I'm pretty unfamiliar with the smartphone buying process. I'm planning on getting the new galaxy s9 coming in a few weeks. T-mobile is my carrier and I'm in the US. First off, what's the difference between buying a new phone pre order from the official phone website (Samsung in this case) or by going to my local t-mobile store and getting the phone after it's released to them? If I do pre-order it, do I just set it up myself or do I take it to the t-mobile store to set up the sim and make sure they know I own a new phone? Can someone explain me this buying process. Thanks. Using a tablet to replace a laptop Posted: 19 Feb 2018 02:05 PM PST I recently got a 10" Android tablet, with the intent to replace a laptop with something smaller and lighter when traveling. I could almost do it with a previous 7" device, but the small screen was a problem. The new tablet is a an Azpen A1050 10.1" screen model in 1280x800 resolution, with a 1.3ghz quad core ARM Cortex 7 CPU, 1GB RAM, 16GB internal storage (of which 11.5GB is available to the user), Mali graphics, Wifi, Bluetooth, front and rear facing 2MP cameras, a microSD card slot, microUSB slot, full sized USB slot, headphone jack, and separate power connector. It runs 6.01 Marshmallow. It will mostly be used in landscape mode, and needs to handle email, browsing, some office productivity stuff, and occasional video and audio. Email here is Gmail, and browsing is Firefox. There's a decent Gmail app for Android, but I find the desktop site in Firefox on the tablet a better fit for what I do. Music is handled by the open source Odyssey music player. Video is handled by the Android version of the open source VLC media player (which I use on the desktop as well.) Office stuff has an assortment of options. I normally use the freeware WPS Office suite, but have Android Open Office, the Google apps, and a few other things installed. There are a few games, but they are a sideline. I'm not a serious gamer. There are eBooks in the mix as well, but I have a 7" tablet that is primary eBook viewer, so those aren't a priority. There are social media apps for things like Facebook and LinkedIn, but I do that from the desktop at home and haven't installed them. When I'm traveling, time to check email can be a precious commodity. Other stuff can wait. I also run the Termux package, which provides a full Busybox installation with the Bash shell, and other packages can be installed from the Termux repository. (I installed zsh, Vim, and Emacs.) The full sized USB slot is a boon. I can plug in a four port USB hub, and comment an external keyboard and mouse, and they work fine. (I have not been able to get a USB thumb drive recognized as external storage in that slot, but that's not a requirement. There's a 64GB microSD card installed configured as external storage.) Thus far it's coming along. The biggest issue is that I haven't found a rooting solution that works on this device. I used Kingo Root in the past, but it bounces off here using the apk or a host connection. King Root and Framaroot likewise fail. There is some bloatware I'd love to delete instead of just disable, and a few things that would be nice to have that are only only doable on rooted devices. I can live without rooting it if I have to, as most of what I got it to do works on a stock system. I'm curious about whether other folks hare have tried something like this, what approaches you took, and how well it's worked for you. Commentary invited. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Feb 2018 10:19 AM PST If I hook a Chromecast audio to a Bluetooth speaker can multiple people connect to it and will they stay connected even someone else plays something or do they always have to reconnect? I'm trying to host a party and use Spotify. And I want my guests to be able to play any song they want, without having to use my phone. [link] [comments] |

How to whitelist calls and messages? Posted: 19 Feb 2018 01:45 PM PST Long story short someone is fucking with me. I keep getting random calls and text messages. Is there any way/app that allows me to whitelist calls AND messages? So basically I only get the calls and messages from that approved list and everything else is blocked [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Feb 2018 08:56 AM PST You know there is this feature which automatically turns off the screen and turns on the front speakers if you hold the smartphone at your ear to listen to memos... This works with my smartphone but only for around 5 secs... Then it cancels the memo and its like a reset.. it used to work back in the past. I don't know if its a wrong setting in the general settings or of its an app which prevents whatsapp to perform this feature properly... Pls help. Its pretty annoying because you usually usw that feature very often :( So if you have any suggestions please answer I would really appreciate it!
