AP Fastboot Flash Mode (Secure) - AKA What did my teenager do? Posted: 01 Jun 2022 03:28 PM PDT Hey all! My son came to me with his phone (Moto G Pure, T-Mobile) and on it we have our little android buddy on his back, chest plate open. Says he was just listening to music when it popped up. Beneath him is the posts title and lots of stuff I don't understand. Also no ability to turn the phone off. It kinda looks like the power button is stuck? There's a little give on the bottom, but no movement on top. I plan to take it in tomorrow, but figured it was worth asking here. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
"Can't receive new voicemails" and don't want to. How do I delete the notification? Posted: 01 Jun 2022 08:06 PM PDT Hi, I'm one of those curmudgeons who hasn't checked voicemails in over a decade and doesn't intend to start now. This wasn't an issue in my last phone (pixel 2) but it's killing me on pixel 5. No matter how many times I swipe away the notification, a few minutes later it's back telling me how I can't receive new voicemails (yeah, I know, the mailbox is full and that's a courtesy feature so nobody gets fooled into leaving a message that will never get listened to). When I try to tell it to stop notifying me about the issue, it says, "these notifications can't be modified." How true is this? Has anyone figured out a workaround? Is there a way to disable the answering machine permanently without affecting phone calls? Grumble grumble, these kids, grumble grumble. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Where are cache files for system apps stored on Galaxy S9? Posted: 01 Jun 2022 07:48 PM PDT I love listening to videos on my S9, the default Samsung Video Player app will play through all videos in a folder like a playlist, and it continues playing audio when I put the phone to sleep. Only one problem, the app automatically replays videos from the point I quit them at. This is bad. I don't want this. But there is no option to disable this. Curiously, even when I go to system settings and delete the cache and app data, the app is still able to resume videos from where it left off. I thought this was exactly the kind of stuff that was in the cache, but it seems not in this case. Anyway, what I want to do is manually locate the file where the video player is recording the point where I leave videos so that it can resume them. Then I want to delete/disable this file so that the app no longer resumes videos. Any app devs here that can help me out here? [link] [comments] |
TWRP Nandroid Restore Error 255 Posted: 01 Jun 2022 07:21 PM PDT This is for anyone who may unfortunately find themselves where I was for the last two days. I didn't find this solution anywhere, was just lucky enough to stumble across it. The situation: Had to wipe my phone, tried to restore from nandroid, kept getting back this error: What ended up working after wiping my phone was flashing the specific ROM my backup was from, ONLY restoring Data first, rebooting into Recovery, THEN restoring System and Boot. After that, I rebooted into System and everything (minus storage) was right where I left it! Hope this helps someone :) [link] [comments] |
[URGENT] My pattern was changed without me changing it Posted: 01 Jun 2022 07:00 PM PDT Hello, I'll be posting this in more subreddits since I don't know what to do... I have Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC, MIUI 12 and it has Android 11 with version number something like 12.7.5? I don't know really, I just know it is behind 2 versions. I've had this phone for almost 2 years. So, where's the story: Yesterday (1.6.), something around 22:30 I made my move in-game Polytopia and closed my phone. Went to the bathroom, came back and I wanted to check if my alarms are set. I was trying to open my phone from pattern lock without using fingerprint or face recognition. I've tried a few times and got locked up for 30 seconds - I little bit panicked but I've said to myself... okay, maybe I've aciddently input an incorrect pattern a few times. However, as I kept trying, no pattern was working. None. I've restarted my phone to unlock it with a fingerprint after a restart, however, this was a mistake: after the restart, I am REQUIRED to input the pattern, no matter what. This is the time when I panicked. I've hopped on my computer to tell my friends. I was stressed and scared, since the only way to get on my phone is by the pattern now or resetting all data. My 2FA keys would be lost, everything. I've drawn my attempts at unlocking the phone, all possible patterns which I could have, but none of them worked. As I was not able to fall asleep, I was thinking about which pattern I've had there and came to the conclusion that I know which, but it did not work... My history of tries: https://imgur.com/a/7BCSEZ5 (I am certain that the pattern is the fourth one on the second image.) I am totally lost. Is there something I can do to recover my phone? Please, I beg you. I am suspecting that the pattern was altered by some app or something. The only app that I've installed yesterday was "KFC CZ" - the Czech version of the KFC app. Oh, and I have no root or custom recovery on my phone, so I can't use TWRP to delete the gesture file, as I've seen on other websites. how do i setup android device as LAN only? (2.3.6) Posted: 01 Jun 2022 12:41 PM PDT ive got this extremely old android phone (samsung galaxy q) and im trying to use it as an ip camera. i already found an old version of IP Webcam (1.9.5), and it actually works alright with decent quality. now for security i want to make sure it can only access local network, and not the internet, since this old version of android is nothing but security holes. i do have root so thats out of the question. i tried to do it from my router but i cant seem to figure out how to do it (bell router). when i block internet from their app, it blocks local access too. and the router's configuration page doesnt let me do it either. How to turn game audio back on? Posted: 01 Jun 2022 04:56 PM PDT At some point I changed a setting so that games never ran sound on my LG V60 Thinq 5G. Currently running Android 12. I have a new game that I would like to run sound for, but I cannot for the life of me find out how I did it. Pretty sure I saw the steps in a random article 2 years ago and I didn't save it anywhere. I have Do Not Disturb off, made sure the sound profile for the phone is set to sound and not silent, etc. The app specific sound control is greyed out, so I can't adjust audio there or within the app itself. Any suggestions what to do? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
calendar app only found via search Posted: 01 Jun 2022 04:25 PM PDT Hi, this should be a quick fix as I assume I'm missing something obvious. At some point my default calendar app on my Samsung disappeared. There's no icon on the home screen or in any folder. When I use search I can find and access the app and its working fine, but there's no option to place it anywhere. I checked settings and the app list and can't seem to figure it out. Any advice on how to get an icon so I don't need to search each time? [link] [comments] |
Photos are all glared out. Video works fine Posted: 01 Jun 2022 02:49 PM PDT Whenever I use the camera for photos the image is completely glared out. Pretty much just straight glare with nothing visible. Video on the other hand works perfectly. Moto g power Android 11. [link] [comments] |
Any 15w magsafe battery pack for Android? Posted: 01 Jun 2022 01:59 PM PDT I have unsuccessfuly been trying to find a battery pack with magsafe that actually has 15w wireless without having to plug it in. Most only say 7.5w which makes sense since they are normally used on apple devices. However ill be using it on S22 Ultra. Preferably 5000mah Any suggestions? [link] [comments] |
Does this phone backup method still work? (Android SDK) Posted: 01 Jun 2022 08:47 AM PDT I would like to back up my phone in case I brick it. (I've already backed up my important files another way.) I see a lot of resources recommending that I use the Android SDK (like this), but I can't tell whether this is an outdated method. Is this still likely to work for me today? I have an old phone (Samsung Galaxy S7 Active) I flaired this as "Custom ROM Question" even though I only intend to use stock ROM. I did that because I think this question would apply to custom ROM beginners, and because I'm expecting custom ROM people to be the most knowledgeable about this topic. Please let me know if that's not appropriate. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Jun 2022 12:25 PM PDT Is there a video messaging app that permits chatting on top of the video for those who are hard of hearing? WhatsApp, Messenger, Skype lack this feature AFAIK. [link] [comments] |
Photos and Videos restore after factory reset Posted: 01 Jun 2022 11:37 AM PDT I recently did a factory reset on my phone after backing up all photos and videos , but I just realized I'm missing a few. Probably the copy failed and I did not notice. Is there any way I can get back those missing files now? I do not have Google photos backup enabled since June of 2021, disabled since it was no longer free. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |

Is it possible to transfer already installed Android app from my mobile to PC for backup purposes? Posted: 01 Jun 2022 05:16 AM PDT I have one specific app installed on my Android mobile that I would like to move into my PC - obviously not to run it on Windows, but just to store it as a file for backup purposes, so that I can install it on different Android phone when needed. Is it possible to do that? I could find single OBB file of this app in my phone's memory, but I don't have APK file anymore. The version of the app I have installed is not available for download anymore, so simply downloading and installing it from Internet is not a substitute for actual backup. Thanks! Technical details: MIUI 12.0.4 Global, Android 9 PKQ1 [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Jun 2022 11:10 AM PDT Is there any way to force this phone to stay on 5G? It seems it can only connect to the Verizon network via the Network Operators menu and it will flip flop between 4GLTE and 5G. The phone works fine on 5G, but will not work at all on 4G. The building I'm in isn't great for cellular service, but if I restart the phone it will stay on 5G until I set it down regardlessof where I am. Then, it will switch to 4G and become a paperweight. how is my phone number making scam calls? Posted: 31 May 2022 10:27 PM PDT I got a text today from someone with my area code asking to call me back later. I asked who they were and they said "you tell me" and sent a screenshot of their voice-mail transcript (probably an iphone) where MY number left a vm. At first I thought I must've buttdialed, but the transcript said something about enrolling and pressing 1 to speak to a representative. Very obviously a scam. Also, I HAD NO OUTGOING CALLS. I haven't even called anyone since Monday afternoon. How is this possible? How do they do it, and how do I stop it? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Jun 2022 10:53 AM PDT Hi ! I have a small question for those who have a work profile on their Android. My company does not have GSuite and I use my work sim on my personal phone (S20+). To activate the work profile, I have to go through Island or Shelter. Everything works fine except for the work call log which is put in the call log of my personal profile. Do you know how to make sure that when I receive a call on my pro sim, it is displayed in the work call log? I found this in the Google help (or I would have to uncheck the log sharing box), but you have to have a Gsuite account if I understand correctly. Thanks for your ideas/solutions. Inspect network traffic on apps? Posted: 01 Jun 2022 06:38 AM PDT Hi, I've had a super weird issue on my pixel 3 and now pixel 6 pro. Some apps can't seem to connect to the internet when first opened and take 1-2 minutes to be able to. Most apps are fine. This only happens on apps - I can visit the corresponding website of an app just fine. I actually got a new gateway from comcast and the issue disappeared for months. Now it's back. The same exact apps are affected. Is there anyway I can inspect the network traffic of my apps, like how the network tab on a browser's inspect tool works? Right now I'm totally in the dark since I don't know what domains aren't connecting. [link] [comments] |
may have to switch to Apple :( Posted: 01 Jun 2022 10:19 AM PDT Ive been trying to buy a new phone for weeks now, I bought one from eBay and one new from Best Buy and I had to return both because neither of them worked with AT&T and could not receive texts and calls (even though they both were unlocked and said to work with all carriers). I prefer Samsung and Android OS but the "list" of non iPhones AT&T is no longer supporting is ridiculous. The main reason I wanted to switch from Apple is because of their practices of slowing down older models, limiting software updates, etc and I (stupidly) thought I would have more freedom with a samsung. Now I'm scared to buy another one because it may not be supported, I don't know a lot about phones/carriers and the two I purchased were said to work with at&t, even when I asked the clerk if it worked with 4g/internet she said yes and I ended up having to return it a few hours later. Audio recording apps lower sound volume than video recording [Fairphone 4] Posted: 01 Jun 2022 06:03 AM PDT Hi! I have a Fairphone 4 with Android 11. I have tried multiple audio recording apps to record music, but I always get a lower sound volume when compared to what I get recording a video. Is there a fix for this? Thanks in advance :) [link] [comments] |
How to power Galaxy s10e from bench top power supply? Battery charge circuit water damaged. Posted: 01 Jun 2022 09:38 AM PDT Phone was water damaged. Took it apparent dried it out and cleaned up the corrosion with rubbing alcohol. Put a new (used) battery in and the phone booted perfectly. But wouldn't charge wirelessly or by USB C. The phone connected to a desktop via type c and my wireless charger shows it's charging. So I think it's the battery charge circuit that died. I already upgraded to an s22. I'd just like to get my old photos and files off the phone. Not sure if I'd be easier to power the phone with a direct DC voltage or if it's easier to charge the battery with some kind of desktop power supply. I'm pretty handy with soldering and stuff. And I have a new phone so I'm not too worried about completely killing my old one. But if I could power it long enough to use smart switch to back up my messages. And samsung dex or just windows file explorer to get my old photos that'd be great. I could order another battery. But it's kinda a crap shoot with how charged they come. Some are 50% some are 10%. I have two good cells that are totally drained and one that's water damaged. [link] [comments] |
