    I opened my laptop to add some RAM and noticed that the battery is slightly swollen. Should I replace it? The laptop has had some weird issues with the battery, since I have the laptop it can shut off randomly under 40%, no notification, nothing. When I start it back up it still has 40%.

    I'm looking to get a laptop for college. Something 3lbs, but also loads things extremely fast. That's my main concern, loading things quickly.

    Isn't the cpu the only thing that determines that? And gaming laptops have great cpus and ram and stuff. So what's the difference between just getting a gaming laptop or a Microsoft surface, chrome book, think pad, etc.

    Why does my battery last for ONLY 2-3 hours? (HP / Windows 10)

    Battery reports and statistics show that my battery has 90% of its original capacity (41 Wh) and will last 2 (3 at a stretch) hours on battery power even though I only use it for web browsing and light programming.

    The laptop is advertised with a battery life of 10 hours under mixed usage / 8 hours under video playback though I have never had the laptop last for anything longer than 4.5 hours (mostly spent (idle)

    I have attempted to maximize battery life by:

    • limiting the maximum processor state to 50% in power plans
    • keeping screen brightness at 50% or below
    • debloating services/programs triggered on startup

    I have considered buying a new laptop or a replacement battery though it seems that battery capacity isn't the problem with 90% of its original capacity. What other options are there?

    I'm not sure if this is relevant, but my laptop came with an i5-1035G4 processor with double the threads and cores rather than the i3-1005G4 it is normally sold with.

    Screen Led sometime turn off

    My laptop led sometimes it turns off and is in a specific led, it only happen when the brightness is on a high level and it turn on again in a little time between 20 secs to 4 mins.

    When the problem is happening I can solve it if I Turn the brightness down but it appears again if I turn the brightness up.

    Somebody knows what could be happening and how to solve it, could be a loose conection?

    The battery icon keeps disappearing

    so the battery icon in the bottom right that says what my laptop is out and allows me to change how much power its using just randomly disappears for no reason and I cant find out how to fix it. All i find online is make sure i have it turned on in my taskbar settings and I do but it still disappears

    Laptop Screen Flickering

    My laptops screen is flickering. The whole display freezes every 3-4 secs. I had a pixel line on the top for some time. At first, the flickering was only at startup and goes away after 10 to 15 mins. but now its unbearable. But the confusing part is it won't flicker when I'm playing games. The moment I quit the games, it starts to flicker.

    Just found : I use Dark mode on almost everything and my wallpapers are all black themed. But when I changed to Light mode, the flickering rate reduced. Dunno what's going on.

    My laptop is the old Dell Inspiron 3000 series Intel i3 with integrated graphics 4 GB Ram and no GPU

    Would be great if i can get a solution, possibly something I can do by myself.

    External SSD (for gaming)

    Last month I bought the Zephyrus G14 (with 500GB internal storage) and I'm looking to upgrade. The thing is, I don't see the difference in swapping to a 1TB drive (the laptop has only one M.2 slot). The sweet spot for me would be 1.5TB, hence the need for an external SSD (already received the STRIX Arion as a gift).

    But buying a fast enough drive to replace the one inside the laptop would be quite the investment for me. I'm interested to know what drive should I get for the enclosure so I can reach its maximum 10Gbps transfer speed (1250MB/s).

    Am I right to assume that a 1800/1200MB/s read/write SSD will perform the same as a 2400/1800MB/s or higher, keeping in mind that they'll both be bottlenecked by the 1250MB/s of the enclosure?

    I am asking because I see people having very fast SSDs in that enclosure and I dont want to overpay for something I know I won't get

    Selling old laptops online (U.K.)

    Has anyone sent in old laptops to be recycled/refurbed on online websites? Wondering which websites are trustworthy/best return in money. Laptop is old and crap so nobody would be buying it off me to actually use, just want rid of it without worrying about data being stolen etc

    how to uninstall anydesk when i cant find it on my program list

    i recently used anydesk with an IT, however i want to uninstall it now. But i cant find it on my programs? i just deleted the .exe file on my downloads. is anydesk reaally gone on my laptop just by that?

    My loyal toshiba c55-a-180 has been through a lot

    Throughout the years i have refused to let my Latop die (becasue i do not have the money for a new one)and done the following upgrades: HDD -> SSD Ugrading RAM from 4 GB to 8GB

    my tendency to keep it alive has akwardly enough gotten my the title Technomancer in my circle of friends ( in this case based on necromancer) because i just do not allow it to die :D

    So now comes the time where i wanna reward my ancient companion with some new parts and here is where i need the help of you guys who have experience with laptop/pc parts

    I know upgrading my cpu is possible as it uses the Ivy Bridge i have looked possible new cpus online

    I would love to be able to upgradde my GPU although i do not know if that is possible (i do not care if i need to solder some parts :D)

    What is your preferred travel/notebook Windows laptop?

    Hey, I'll be using a small 13-14 inch laptop during travel for photography storage and downloaded movies/shows before bed. Not for gaming. It will likely get 80% VLC usage and 20% Photoshop/Lightroom use (which is why I prefer Windows over ChromeOS).

    I'm heavily considering the Asus Zenbook Flip 13 because I've had a lot of good luck with Asus on motherboards and monitors, I trust the brand more than some others. I'm hoping to find an i7 or Ryzen CPU with whatever I choose, along with 16gb+ RAM and 1tb SSD is a big plus. The biggest issue I see with the Zenbook is people say it gets ridiculously hot. Is this a common trait with all ultra slim travel laptops? If you've had any experience with these, what is your recommended travel laptop? Thanks for your time!

    Looking to buy a mid-range gaming laptop that can handle elden ring. These 2 laptops caught my eye and was wondering if they are any good. I would love to hear your opinions, thoughts, and experiences with either of these laptops, so I can decided in the end. If you guys have better MSI recommendations though, feel free to say them.

    Need some help choosing a laptop for uni

    I'm currently looking for a decent and not expensive 13,3 inch laptop with average to good battery life and currently there are 4 models I'm interested in. 1) HP Probook 430 G8 2) HP Pavilion 13-bb0000 series 3) Dell Vostro 13 5301 4) Lenovo Thinkpad L13 gen2

    All laptops have 8Gb of RAM, and you can upgrade it only in probook, but I don't think it's important, because for RAM-demanding tasks I have a decent PC at home. All laptops have i5 1135G7 and are almost the same price.

    I'm planning to buy a 300$ laptop for online school and to play Roblox. A 300$ dollar laptop for online school is probably good but my only concern is playing roblox on it and I don't want it to lag while playing it. So can a 300$ run Roblox or most of the games there?? Will I have a decent experience using a 300$ laptop?
