| Missing pins on just bought Ryzen 5 3600 Posted: 29 Apr 2021 05:20 AM PDT Troubleshooting Help:Just bought an AMD 5 3600 from amazon, listed as new. Came in a obvously repackaged box. 2 centrals pins are missing. Link to the proc pic My first instinct is to just send it back to amazon, not even trying to plug it in. This is not the normal appearance of this processor right ? Plus at least 5-6 pins were bent. I don't think that's normal, or is it ? Edit for more info : It was not from a seller, but indeed from Amazon. Customer services points to AMD moreover. For shipping and return, it was shipped from amazon.de ( germany) to France, which might cause some problem for the free returns. | A Supercar PC That Refuses To Go Past 2nd Gear Posted: 28 Apr 2021 11:53 PM PDT Most important specs: EVGA 3070, Asus ROG Strix Gaming z490 MB, 32gb of ram, intel i9 10900k I have the computer running, I can play games, I can stream, but it just doesn't feel right. Here's the prime example, the current problem I'm facing. I'm trying to play on an RP server of GTA5. I have never played the game before, so all my knowledge was fresh. When I log in, I'm getting 15fps (point of reference, my friend who introduced me is getting 90fps on a "worse" rig, I don't know his specs) I figure I just need to optimize some settings. I google that, optimize, and get a whopping 17fps average. Yes, I have looked up all my drivers, all are up to date. My MB is up to date as well, I literally cannot find any reason why GTA5, and most my other games too, won't perform to the level of previous hardware. At this point, my 1060 laptop is running these games better than my new "beast". Nioh 2, run an average of 55fps with frequent drops to under 30. FF14, never higher than 45, and those are just a few examples. I am at a loss at what to do. I had an expert help me build it, I ran into no problems with booting it up when the build was finished. It's been a week now, and I have not found a solution, so I am asking for ANY insight into what might be my problem. I just wanna play my games lmao, thats the whole reason I built this pc the way I did. I really hope that my lack of building experience is the factor here. Maybe just some setting I've missed, obscure driver, or something. Thanks. But I'm not all caught up yet so if you could dumb down the explanation for me that would be nice. The fans i have are nice its just the controller only has a few colors and nothing i would actually want. I have and aorus motherboard. I tried downloading the software for aorus hardware but i can only change the light on my motherboard. Is there any software i can use to actually change the fan color? Posted: 29 Apr 2021 01:17 AM PDT I have the i7, mobo and ram from an asus desktop from 2011 in a giant case from many years ago(C2D). Got all my fans and drives and whatnot and a 2060. I've been wanting to join you folks here in the future for a while. Problem is the wife knows my rig "works fine" and I have my 1650 laptop. So I'm looking to go cheap ass and maybe bump up the cpu once these weird times have passed. Anyway, I'm looking at: I3 10100 $130 Asrock B560 pro4 $125 Hyper X Fury something 16gb 2666 $70 Take all that, slap in my case, play some games, make some terrible metal music and YT videos no one watches. Hell I might even stream to an average of 1.4 viewers on twitch. Would I actually see any real benefit in doing this? I was gonna go 11400 and Z590 for upgrading to an OC cpu later. The wife scoffed at $600 in upgrades and I don't think I'm interested in OCing anymore anyway. I'm old and I'd rather play fort nite with my kid. Thanks for any input. So in one of my daily zoom meetings, I got bored and was fidgeting with a charging cable connected to my pc. In my mindlessness the type b end of the charging cable fell into a socket on the surge protector on my table. This tripped the breaker in my house and since then i have been unable to start my computer. There is no light, no fans spinning, no sound. What all components can i expect to be fried? I tested the psu with the paper clip method and the psu fan is spinning and a molex fan connected is also spinning. Is it a foolproof method to check the psu? Everything has been great, only that I encountered a question that has stumped me. When I looked at motherboard specs, it sometimes says things like:
Firstly, I tried to search for videos and forums with similar questions... but I didn't understand. I really just wanna know how do I know which motherboard will support my VENGEANCE RGB PRO 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4 DRAM 3600MHz C18 Memory Kit? I wouldn't want to buy RAM with more MHz than my future motherboard will support. I might even choose 64GB of Ram instead, but I wanna be sure that the motherboard supports it. | A Bad Time to Build a Good PC: A Challenge (budget approx. $7,000) Posted: 29 Apr 2021 11:04 AM PDT Hello helpful people, I understand now is probably the worst time to build a PC/ buy PC components. However, I come from a very isolated country and am visiting the U.S. for a couple of weeks in the coming month. I have wanted to upgrade my decade old gaming PC for many years now. My budget is around $7,000 (but if monitor suggestions are included, approx $8,500). Since I will soon return back to my isolated home, I will not be able to upgrade much in the future. As such, I am hoping to have a rig which can accommodate the growth of VR (and current high-end VR gaming). I also run a lot of in-house servers for my friends, so I do end up using a good portion of my ram running those servers while playing simultaneously. I have no interest in streaming. Please let me know what I need to know. If you think it is impossible to secure components right now, could someone please suggest a good place to buy high-end prebuilds? Thanks! | Window Shopping - How's it look so far? Posted: 29 Apr 2021 10:19 AM PDT So I've been researching for about a week now, this is my first attempt at building a new PC. Made a previous post but it was to vague and didnt give enough information. I'm totally open to suggestions and criticism. I don't plan to overclock and this will be pretty much be for gaming, potentially streaming, and some other minor software things. Here's what I've come up with so far..
I'll be taking the the GPU and SSD from my current pc and putting then in here.
So right now I'm sitting about 1100-1350 for the total, my budget is capped at about 1500. Figured the last 100-150ish could be used for some good fans for the PC Not sure on the fans, was maybe thinking a few.. - NZXT AER RGB 2 52.44 CFM 120 mm Fans? It was between this and the Intel i9 10980XE, but after many reviews, I settled on the AMD. So far I only have a case and before I buy anything else I wanted to get some second opinions on my build. I understand that there's a shortage of some of these parts so I'm fine with buying it little by little and building it once everything arrives. | Bad FPS on a high end computer Posted: 29 Apr 2021 02:16 PM PDT Hi, about 2 months ago I decided to build my very first PC with the help from my friends. My specs are a ryzen 5 3600, rtx 2060 6gb, 16gb of 3000mhz ddr4 ram, and a b450 gaming pro carbon max wifi motherboard. My friends assured me that these specs should be able to run my vr headset that I own and most high end games. However, my vr wouldnt connect to this pc at all with a headset issue that i solved with a pcie usb expansion card. With this, I frequently need to restart my beat saber as after about 5 minutes it begins to lag very badly, and I run vrchat on 14 fps. As well as this, i only run apex legends at about 40, where as on my old pc with a worse gpu and cpu, i could run games perfectly fine both on desktop and vr. CPU: i7 10700F I'm going to describe the situation in detail, so if you're in a hurry, there's a tl;dr session at the end. 1 First build 2 CPU and Motherboard RMA 3 Second build 4 Curent state I am out of ideas. I can't make sense of how installing an SSD or reinstalling Windows could suddenly cause my GPU/System to fail. | Looking for a chair that is comfortable and that I can lounge in as well Posted: 29 Apr 2021 12:23 PM PDT I've done a good amount of searching and I still can't find a chair that fits the bill. What I'm looking for is a non-gaming chair that has a steep tilt range and can be locked in place. I use my chair for school, gaming, and watching movies and I like to lean my chair wayyy back when I watch movies. So far, the office chairs that get highly recommended (Herman Miller, Steelcase, etc) don't lean back very far. "Gaming" chairs are off the table since everything I've heard about them boils down to marketing and hype rather than good ergonomics and quality. Are there any suggestions that I should look into? I have a GTX 1070 paired with an i7 4770 and 16GB DDR3. The new stuff is an i7 10700F and 16GB DDR4 3800. Since it's available for me with a reasonable price, I was thinking of sticking with my 1070 until this insanity of shortages is over. I know no one knows what time it will take but I am not in a rush. Though I might be in a rush to avoid possible shortages and prices skyrocketing for other parts. Especially storage and processors. I had some pointers from my friend who was familiar with PC building, but I also want to try to get an opinion from a wide range of people I'm aiming for a £550 budget, and this PC will mainly be used for programming, video editing, audio editing and general work, but may also be used for some light gaming (Not memory or graphic intensive games). With the recent inflation of graphics card prices, a friend has offered to lend me one of their old GPUs to use temporarily, so that part of the PC doesn't need to be accounted for for now!

| Need gaming monitor suggestions for no more than about 400$ US Posted: 29 Apr 2021 03:13 PM PDT Been going to places trying to find info about various monitors and what I want but at this point I'm confused as heck about what I should buy. I'm used to a CRT (yes even in 2021) so I have no experience with monitors. As its dying hard, I need a new one ASAP. I'm using a 1060 GTX. Seems like I want one that supports G-sync in some manner, I'm not going to run games at 100+ FPS so I need one with dynamic refresh rates. Likewise, 1080p is what I want. 24 inch seems the perfect size. I'm a competitive gamer, so I want the lowest input lag, which is hard to find info on anywhere, but my understanding is most high hz monitors with dynamic refresh rates are good enough. I've seen some lower budget monitors that I was looking at but they tended to have issues like noticeable gamma shift or just very washed out colors, or worse blurry images in gaming mode. Otherwise everything I find is 200-300$ over budget, I find it really struggling to find what is the best option for a competitive gamer with that limited budget, I would deeply appreciate any help. I want to have another monitor to the left of it for watching youtube and working on digital art, but no gaming. If I want to get a 75hz monitor will it cause any issues? | Building around integrated graphics? Posted: 29 Apr 2021 03:08 PM PDT I don't know a lot about what each component of a pc does but mine takes about 45s to open chrome so I'm looking to build a decent desktop to play games and browse on with integrated graphics until gpu's are cheap again. However I don't know if there is a point to this when i could get a prebuilt that is upgradable. If i get a good cpu and RAM, but intel integrated graphics, can i play 3d games at a stable fps until i can upgrade gpu? [link] [comments]  |
