Box is sealed. What does this mean? How is this different from a regular one? Will I still get normal updates? I opened the box and it has tmobile sim inside (not installed). Posted: 24 Jan 2021 09:42 AM PST I've had my S10+ for about a year and a half, and it had reached that seemingly inevitable point where everything was slow and buggy and laggy, and I decided it was time for a factory reset. Everything went great, everything restored just fine except that NOTHING I do will convince it that my location is not 5172 Renshaw Dr, Troy, MI 48085. I have never been to Michigan. I live in southern Vermont, 500 miles away. What's going on? I don't have a VPN on or anything. Help? Please? [link] [comments]  |
| Phone broke, google wants to use old phone for verification, but cant Posted: 24 Jan 2021 07:35 PM PST My phone broke, screen is not responding, so I went and got a new phone today, try to add google account to it, and it asks to verify using my old phone... but I can not, I hear and see the notification from google but I cant click yes. There are no other options on the screen except to use my old phone, on my desktop I see text phone number and call phone number, but neither of these options are showing on my new phone. I confirmed I have the correct phone number on my account, and it is set to allow account recovery and password reset. Now my account is locked because of too many attempts... Any ideas? I ve tested Microsoft's authenticator and it is somehow complicated. In the case device is stolen or the device goes to get repaired, I want to be able to stop immediately someone accessing my accounts and the authenticator app. And to resume it when it get back from the repair service. However probably one out of every five times that I return home, OneUI comes up instead. How can I make that stop happening? I've gone to the "choose default apps" section of the settings, and made Smartlauncher from my default. It doesn't seem to matter though. It happens so often that I put a icon for smart launcher on the front page of one UI so that I can quickly get back into it. It's super freaking irritating. It happens at least 20% of the time when I swipe up from the bottom to return home (which is the only way that I know how to get back home). What am I doing wrong? Please help! [link] [comments]  |

| Use my phone's hotspot for home wifi? Posted: 24 Jan 2021 12:38 PM PST So it turns out my phone's network is about 3 times faster than my home internet. I was wondering if it's possible to find a long term hardware setup to use my phone's hotspot for my home internet. I don't have any complex needs. Just basic netflix, streaming and no smart devices. I assume my phone's hardware wouldn't do well sharing it's connection for months on end. So is it possible to wirelessly share my internet with a router and let that do all the heavy lifting? I'd prefer a wireless setup if possible. I don't want to change my plan because if I can get this to work, it'll save me a ton of money a month. I'm on a pixel 2 [link] [comments]  |

Recently, I have not been able to receive his text messages if I am using the Samsung message app, but I can if I use the Google messages app. I prefer to use the Samsung messaging app over the Google one but I hate having to rely on Facebook Messenger for us to text when I have the Samsung app set as my default. To my knowledge he is the only one I am having this issue with, I have been receiving texts from iPhone and other Android users, but I don't know as many people who use Google phones so I'm not sure if its an issue with all messages from the Google message app. I just factory reset my phone as well and I still can't get texts from him, so I was wondering if there might be a setting or something on his end we could try changing to make it so I can get his texts? I know iPhone users have to toggle iMessage on and off sometimes when they have text message issues, so any advice on if there might be a similar solution for the Pixel 3? Or any other suggestions or solutions? We are both on Verizon and on the same account, the only ones on the account if that affects anything. The issue started about 3~ months ago I'd guess. Posted: 24 Jan 2021 02:40 PM PST As per title, my girlfriend had a what'sapp message from "Adam" who she claims was an old "pen.pal" from before we got together. She claims she doesn't have his contact number or details stored on her phone and hadn't for close to a year. But I thought what's app works via phone numbers so if she doesn't have this "Adams" number saved this message should have been delivered from a number (ie +44 7000 234457 for example I am in UK) rather than from "Adam" Should I be concerned she is being stalked or is she heaven forbid hiding something from me? Can someone please explain if it's possible to get WhatsApp messages from a "name" rather than a number if the sender's contact details are not saved on the recieving device please? Basically I made some animated sticker for whatsapp using Sticker Maker and added them to the keyboard that lets me use them in whatsapp. They're in webp format and all. Now, the problem is when I try to send them, because it says that it's impossible to send the file. I tried with other apps and with them it's even worse, because it doesn't let me add the sticker pack to whatsapp saying that my current whatsapp version doesn't support animated sticker or that a problem occurred while trying to add the pack. My whatsapp version is 2.21.1.13, and my phone is a Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Plus. [link] [comments]  |
| Good dual sim dialer/messenger help Posted: 24 Jan 2021 05:36 PM PST TL;DR at bottom Just started using the dual sim feature for my personal and work number but I cannot stand how with just about every dialer/messenger I've tried, calls and texts are all listed under one tab, I want to completely separate personal/work calls and texts from each other and have their own tab. Does no dialer or messenger offer this? It seems like such a basic thing but nothing I've tried offers this. The next best thing I'd want to try is something like a parallel/dual space however, the only company I know that truly offers this is Xiaomi/MIUI but I'm not using a Xiaomi device or MIUI. I've tried something called Cometin which has a "work mode" but it's kind of confusing and doesn't do what I was hoping it would do (function like miui's dual space). If it helps, I am also rooted if there are any workarounds that might need root access. TL;DR - Can anyone who uses dual sim for work and personal please recommend a way to keep my personal and work calls/texts completely separated whether it's via dialer/messenger apps or some sort of dual/parallel space. I'll be typing something, and accidentally tap the empty space below the spacebar or the enter button, and it almost seems to act as if I tapped the little downward pointing arrow which closes the keyboard... is there a way to fix this or is it just an ongoing bug? might have to install a different browser app i guess unless there's a way to fix it, because it's super annoying. | Motorola Edge Plus front camera error Posted: 24 Jan 2021 05:14 PM PST When I switch to the front camera, it says "Camera error - Please restart Camera to continue" and crashes. When I try to re-open it, the camera doesn't work at all. I tried clearing the cache, force-stopping, disabling, updating every app related to the camera, as well as restarting and enabling safe mode. The only thing that helps is clearing the storage of the Camera app. Then, the rear camera works fine, but the front camera breaks the app until I clear the storage again. Whenever I want to share something, my phone will suggest several contacts that I might want to send whatever it is to. Usually the suggestions make sense since they're the people I text with on a near daily basis. But there's one person that's propped up recently. We don't really know each other that well, and have hardly ever talked; last time we did was nearly a year ago. Does anyone know why this might be? | Posted: 24 Jan 2021 04:55 PM PST Me and my family all got S20+ phones at the same time and under the same contract, but everyone but me has gotten Andriod version 11 and One UI version 3.0 while I'm still stuck in Andriod version 10 and One UI version 2.1 for some reason. Everytime I check my update status, it tells me I'm up to date. The only difference between mine and my families phone is that I had to get my screen replaced (not my whole phone). My internet connection is stable enough for an update, I'm always on 100% battery when I check and my storage is only barely 3/4ths full. Any help? [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 24 Jan 2021 04:33 PM PST To start, I have a OnePlus 6t and am with Straight Talk. My data doesn't work at all, despite the fact that I have it turned on. I have cell service -- I can text and make calls with no issues -- but things like viewing MMS and using Google maps I can't do because there is not connection at all. (My plan includes unlimited data, so that's not the issue) So far I have restarted my phone, toggled data and airplane mode, removed and reinserted the SIM card, checked to ensure all system updates are current, and reset my connection settings, multiple times. The only thing I haven't done is reset or change my APN, because I don't want to mess with something I don't understand. I contacted my carrier and they told me to do all the things I've already done, and that the APN wasn't the issue. Any help at all is appreciated. [link] [comments]  |

Posted: 24 Jan 2021 04:11 PM PST For the past week or so, (I think since the latest software update), my Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 keeps disconnecting and reconnecting to the WiFi very frequently. Sometimes only a few seconds. Extremely annoying because it then uses my data or in some cases won't load whatever I'm doing. This issue is with my phone only. None of my other devices or housemate's devices have this problem. I've rebooted the phone, forgot the network and reconnected again, rebooted the WiFi. Can't seem to resolve it.
