She hung up after he asked her to go to CVS and buy a $500 Google gift card. ? She has no idea how he got on her laptop. ? I've told her to not open laptop until I can visit next month. I might ground her, take her electronic devices and put her in time-out. 😊 I filed a complaint with FTC. Not sure what else to do. She's 70+ and apparently, trusting. [link] [comments]  |

Opened task manager (very slowly) and saw that Of 8 GB RAM, 5 GB was taken by Outlook. RAM utilization was at 98%. Ended Outlook's process and the performance graph looked like a cliff. Why the hell? I use Windows 10 and the keyboard is a Corsair K70 RGB MK2 Mechanical. No clue what's causing this. My kids get on it all the time to play Roblox and watch Youtube. I know my son tried to install an auto clicker program before that included some Malware. Could this be some Malware or just some Macro command they've somehow entered? Thank you all again!! EDIT I forgot to say that in the examples above every line posted gets entered with just one press of the "0" key on the keypad. | Printer code req'd only for color Posted: 14 Aug 2019 03:28 AM PDT So I'm working on this issue where the client is asking for all users to require to input an accounting code (as in on the computer upon sending a job) when printing, but ONLY when printing in color. They shouldn't need one for black and white. Furthermore...they don't want the 2 printer setup (one labeled B&W, one labeled Color). They're persistent that it worked just fine beforehand. It's a Xerox Workcentre 7970. There are a number of ways I thought I could do this, such as assigning everyone to 2 profiles each not allowing the other to print in opposite color settings, but one profile's restrictions always overrides the other's permissions. | Classroom PCs randomly dying, 10 deaths over the last month. Posted: 13 Aug 2019 11:28 AM PDT I work for a university IT department and part of my responsibilities are the classrooms in the building. Within the last month, the same two classrooms have had their PCs fail and need Warranty Support from Dell. When they get repaired, Dell replaces the motherboard and they're good to go. We've went through event log files(had the machines thawed in Deepfreeze), security cameras, power tests, and nothing is coming back. They both die within 30 min of each other. They have been multiple models of Dell Optiplex machines, with Windows 10 and Deepfreeze. Plugged into the machines is a Lumens document camera, USB mouse and keyboard, USB cable to the monitor, two displayport cables, a camera for tele-learning, and a usb audio mixer. The audio and video feed into a Crestron AV Rack system that goes on to house speakers and multiple TVs. We have another pair of rooms set up the same way that have had no issues. At first we thought it was a power issue, so we purchased power conditioners for each room. They both died on those. To rule out this completely, I stuck a repaired machine in the room with only power to the same conditioner the production machine is on. Monday both production machines died, but the test machine was still on. Pretty safe we can rule out power issues. PoE is ruled out as the ethernet comes through cisco phones which should fry first. Nothing else is dying, only the desktop machines. Sabotage/users were ruled out when we looked at the security camera recording. Taking the PC apart shows no obvious burn marks or busted capacitors. Hard Events log shows absolutely nothing, System log doesn't show anything since July 10th. Some PCs have passed the green light PSU test, some don't. Some have SSDs, some have m.2. Some machines are from a brand new batch, some are years old PCs that used to be in classrooms. At this point, we place two machines in the room and get the two dead ones repaired, and repeat about every two weeks. There was one instance where they failed within 48 hours of being placed in the room. Looking for any leads at all including tips on where to look, programs we can run that constantly save logs for hardware events, etc. It has to be related to the AV system to us, but we're entertaining other theories as well. | Installing windows 8.1 through the windows store and stuck on getting a few more things ready 16% Posted: 14 Aug 2019 05:15 AM PDT As stated above, I am updating windows 8 to 8.1 through the windows store, and everything was installing perfectly fine untill it froze. The pinwheel was still spinning, but the percentage has been the same for the past 6 hours. Should I turn off the computer? And i do have a bootable flashdrive that I could install from, but this computer came with windows 8 and i'm not sure if I would need to buy a new product key. This computer is about 6 years old and I had to refresh it due to some graphics card issues, which installed windows 8 instead of 8.1 for some reason. [link] [comments]  |

The dvi port works fine and that's the one i am using. However, trying to use hdmi does not work at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers. The explorer lags when I try to open the drive or just right click on it. https://imgur.com/a/rx0QOZI It shows the drive, but it won't show the disk. The floppy disk I insert is brand new. I've tried to update the drivers https://imgur.com/7L0zACw but it shows it has the newest already https://imgur.com/a/F959VS1. (Also tried to update the drivers manually with the 2 that were avaiable and it made no difference https://imgur.com/a/DpSWlfW. I tried to google for a solution, but without a luck. There are however few people with same/similar issues like me and all think that it is a Window 10 issue. | Posted: 14 Aug 2019 05:02 AM PDT I bought this one to replace a tp-link wn8200nd usb adapter. Funnily the tp-link costs 20eur and had a lot stronger signal than the asus one. With the tp-link I was getting 4/5 signal strength and reached almost max speed. I connected the external antennas, downloaded the latest asus drivers, but this card has too weak signal reception. It is in the exact same spot I had the tp-link usb wifi module... Wtf may be wrong here? Setup: Windows 10 1903, ryzen 2700x, x370 taichi. [link] [comments]  |

I also found this: https://www.dell.com/support/home/ba/en/badhs1/product-support/product/optiplex-790/drivers When I switch from Windows XP OS to Windows 7 64bit OS, there are 77 drivers listed. Is that all or do I need to download something additional? I also noticed that some of the drivers were last updated in like 2013 or 2014. I am running Google Pixel 3XL with the newest firmware and Outlook with the newest firmware. I added my company's email to the Outlook app. I went to my phone's settings -> security and location -> device admin apps -> Outlook device policy and I have it turned off. I have almost exclusively watched Jojo this past year and nothing else, but when I go to YouTube, I get weird degenerate ads main offenders being an app called girls x battle and another(probably virus) app that makes your lock screen a anime girl and you can move her titties. I do watch Jojo content on YouTube but not nearly as much as gaming so I don't think that Is the reason. Am I being spied on in incognito? And how do I remove these ads and make them normal again? I tried the VLC solution (build index then play) but it only restored ~2min of the video. Then I kept trying and one time it restored the full 5min, but very stuttery. | Posted: 14 Aug 2019 04:36 AM PDT I got my wife one of these to go in her new car. Unfortunately the car does not have a WiFi connection. Her phone has mobile hotspot enabled though so I am using that for it to connect to the internet. The initial setup goes fine and it works no problem until the next day and she gets in to go to work and it's like it list everything, it keeps saying it is having trouble connecting to the internet. I have re-ran the setup several times and it seems to work until the vehicle is turned off and the device isn't used for a few minutes. It is connected using the input cord not the Bluetooth connection and it has power constantly. Anyone else having these issues? [link] [comments]  |

The issue now is that when I turn it on it seems like it's unable to get going. The cpu fan and case fans will move faintly, the gpu will light up, but then like a split second later, just die. I'm not sure if this a psu versus motherboard issue. Currently the motherboard's green lights are on without any flickering/flashing. Also, I've tested all the connections to make sure everything is secure. What do you guys think? [link] [comments]  |

Only problem is when I tap and hold on/go into the details of any WiFi network saved in my phone there is no option to forget the network. Anywhere. At all. I've tried resetting network settings. | Posted: 14 Aug 2019 04:27 AM PDT So my computer froze about 2 weeks ago and I've friend everything that I can find online, I have a gigabyte b250m-d3h mother board and whenever I choose my desired USB from the F12 boot menu, it loads for a little bit but after about 5 minutes it comes up with a blue screen of death with the error : DRIVER PNP WATCHDOG I'm running on windows 10. The boot options are : UEFI: VerbatimSTORE N GO PMAP, partition 1 Or VerbatimSTORE N GO PMAP I've tried both of these and it just ends up doing the same thing. | Cannot finish clean Windows 10 install Posted: 14 Aug 2019 12:37 AM PDT Hi, I have a HP Pavillion 15-ab031ax which previously on Windows 8.1. It was my friend's laptop and he asked me to upgrade it to Windows 10. So, I did what I usually did by creating a bootable usb disk and then install Windows 10. At first I was having a problem with "Couldn't create new partition bla bla bla" problem and I solved it by following instructions (the diskpart thing) from some very helpful videos on Youtube. After solving the problem I tried installing Windows 10 again only to see it fail again and again. It keep restarting the laptop when it was loading at "getting files ready for installation". It can only reached 70-80% before restarting the laptop and starting over the windows installation. Can someone please explain what is the problem and the solution for it?
