| Posted: 30 Apr 2019 03:57 PM PDT So my parents moved and inevitably got a new ISP (they have Comcast now) and I am now home from college. In the new house I am forced to connect my xbox via wifi due to where everything is located. When my xbox is completely unplugged the wifi is phenomenal, around 275 download 65 upload and around 10 ping(Tested this multiple times). But when I plug in my xbox and simply have it sitting at the home screen not playing any games not downloading anything not talking to anyone in a party or anything, just idling. The wifi goes to about 10 download and 2 upload consistently. Idk if this is a bandwidth thing or if the stock modem that Comcast gave us is terrible. When I start my pc it asks me to bybass a warning (wrong type on/off button) that's not a issue. Issue is that I cannot press anything with my keyboard. For temporary solution I have regular keyboard that I use to bybass this warning. Also the keyboard cannot be used on BIOS. However keyboard's all lights are on during this all. I'm having problems with my dvd and bluray players: a while ago I installed daemon tools lite and since then my players stopped working. I couldn't play any dvd/bluray or writing a on discs neither. I've unistalled the software but it still doesn't work. | Posted: 01 May 2019 04:55 AM PDT hey, yesterday i encountered a couple of bluescreens with an error saying "bad drivers". after some checking, cleaning all hardware + case and not finding a solution i figured a clean windows 10 reinstall was about time. everything went well, today my pc wasn't booting so i checked my ram and after testing all slots it seems my first, third and fourth slots are dead. as soon as i use one of my ram sticks on the second slot i can boot the pc and everything is working. so far nothing bad happened.
(normally i was able to achive up to and more than more screen refresh rate for optimal usage, now 70-90 fps) my hardware

He used to have to change his password every year (for security reasons I assume). He is now 3 years into retirement and it is not accepting his password. | New built PC freezing when trying to install anything and hard drive not detected Posted: 01 May 2019 04:48 AM PDT I built a new PC, put it together yesterday and I'm trying to install things, but every time I try the PC freezes, everything that is open is not responding, I can't close anything even when forcing to close and the only thing I can do is reset the PC. I have 3 drives, 1 m.2 nvme for the os and software and 2 hdds. When installing something there is a ticking noise coming from the PC, sounds like it could be from the HDD. I find it weird because when I'm installing onto the HDD and it freezes, the brower does so too even though it's installed on the m.2 Also the second drive is not detected. Windows sounds, Spotify, Chrome, & other applications seem to be unaffected; Other sounds output normally. I've restarted the machine. I checked that Firefox wasn't muted or reduced in the Windows Volume mixer. Confirmed that the "Block websites from automatically playing sound" option was unchecked. Ran Firefox in safe mode. The only solution that occurs to me is to put multiple QR codes, but that would be impractical. So is it possible to somehow implement this, at least by choosing the prefix in scanning app, so it would show something like this?

I was previously having issues with it disconnecting randomly while charging. This has devolved into an issue where the phone will only charge when the charging cable is placed in the charger (the charger itself, not the charging port of the phone) at an odd angle - sometimes leaning to one side and sometimes not placed quite all the way in. These positions were susceptible to being knocked out of alignment and randomly stopping charging. The situation now is that no matter what the position I cannot get anything more than for the phone to briefly charge for half a second and then lose connection. The phone also will not detect being connected to a computer and the computer will not detect the phone. I have tried different cables, different chargers and different outlets to no success. Changing the battery also did not work. I've cleared lint out of the phone and that hasn't seemed to work either, though I am just now going to get some compressed air to make sure. | All video media on computer stutters Posted: 01 May 2019 04:19 AM PDT Any video I play, that is, YouTube videos and video files on my laptop (which I run through either VLC or Movies & TV), will randomly begin to stutter wherein the screen will flicker and the audio will cut in and out rapidly. Not really watchable after it begins to happen. Occasionally it just stops happening by itself but the only way I know that stops it for certain is a hard reset of my laptop. Thought it was originally bad internet or a bad movie copy but it's happened too many times to be either those. | Crazy ping spikes every 10 seconds Posted: 01 May 2019 04:16 AM PDT I'm on my Pc with ethernet connection. Had an issue so ISP recommended buying a new modem. Still got an Issue. Originally noticed the problem playing overwatch and did port forwarding but didn't help at all. Then used cmd prompt ping tests and noticed they spiked identically on Google and any server ip. Base ping is usually about 45, alright speeds (50 down 15 up ish). Does anyone know why this is happening? ISP has given up hahah. Issue is same on any other computer I try. | Windows fonts folder way too big Posted: 01 May 2019 04:03 AM PDT Hi, my problem is that when I go into properties of the fonts folder, it shows that there are 1800 files and that it is 1.2 GB big. However, when I now open the folder there are barely 100 files (some do have different kinds of width etc, so if I'm generous it would be 500 at most). | Easiest way to install and upgrade my OS to a new SSD Posted: 01 May 2019 04:01 AM PDT Hey all, So I am upgrading my system with two new SSD's rather than my old HDD. I'd like a completely fresh install of windows as I've already backed up my files onto an external HDD. I'd also like to upgrade my current OS from 7 to 10 and was wondering what is the best way to do this. I can also no longer use my original windows install disc as I no longer have the disc or a disc drive. I have talked with colleagues who have informed me that when you update to windows 10 you can tie your product key to your MS account but what is the easiest way of then getting that installed onto my new SSD. Probably because it is not a gaming laptop. I decided to check the temperature for the first time ever it and the cpu was hitting 105° C when playing apex legends. The specs are I7-5500U for the cpu and 950m for the graphics card. I also undervolted it for -0075V. Is there anything I can do without opening the laptop? I dont know a lot about computers and I am sure i cant do anything like changing thermal paste etc, so if there is a program I can use that doesnt allow it to reach above 80 degrees it would be great. | Posted: 01 May 2019 03:42 AM PDT I've had this problem for a few months now and I can't for the life of me find any help. I shut my PC down overnight and boot it up sometime the next day. Every time I boot up my wired internet connection becomes extremely slow. As in, infinite loading slow. If I shut my PC down, remove my Ethernet cable and boot back up again, then plug my cable back in 5-10sec after boot, it works just fine. I can also get it to work with a restart most of the time, but not always. - We know it isn't the Ethernet cable, as my partner and I have swapped cables a few times to confirm. - We know it isn't the router because we have tested on three different routers, all ports on each router tested. Same problem. - We know it isn't the connection because we have moved house and changed connection services. Nevertheless, here's some extra info ... Router: Netcomm NF18 Wi-Fi Modem Router Connection Type: Ethernet WAN Protocol: PPPoE ISP: Mate Communicate NBN (Australia) Motherboard: Asus Prime Z370-P LGA 1151 ATX Any other information you need, just ask. | URGENT! Monitor turns off mid use - please help! Posted: 01 May 2019 03:42 AM PDT Mid-use (mainly while gaming but has happened while not under load as well), my monitor will turn off saying that its not getting signal from the HDMI 1 / HDMI 2 anymore. Changing the HDMI slot i'm using when this happens does not fix the problem. I then have to turn the computer off and change the HDMI cable into the other slot that its not currently on, then when I turn back on, it picks up the signal again (most of the time), if i force restart without doing this it will say no signal from HDMI 1/2 whichever is currently in use. Have tried using display port cable instead but does not change what happens. More recently the problem has changed and started doing the following - the screen goes black and then statics for a second and then reconnects without me doing anything. Its now stopped doing this and reverted back to black screen and requiring forced restart > change hdmi cable to the other port and the cycle starts again. My monitor is a Optix MPG27CQ, graphics card is a vega 64, cpu is AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Gen2 8 Core AM4. I would really love some help if possible please as I just want to get on and game uninterrupted!
