[x-post from /r/letgo] Letgo is a terrible app. Android Apps

[x-post from /r/letgo] Letgo is a terrible app.

    Posted: 04 Jul 2018 09:49 PM PDT

My experience using this "app" has been terrible. (Might be hyperbole) Let me summarize my issues with this app.

    1. Photo compression. How are we supposed to sell things when the images are compressed to look like hot trash? I can understand the need to save bandwidth, etc. But if I'm selling something I want it to look the best it can.

    2. Want multiple images on a post? Just select them one by one. There's no reason for them to not allow you to select multiple images at the same time. It doesn't make any sense.

    3. The notifications. They are so excessive. There is no option to not automatically create a notification on a new search. I get it, i can hit the toggle switch after searching to not be notified, but this is unnecessary behavior and it screams desperation on the app developers end.

    4. The emails. I get an email about every little thing. Got a new chat message? That's an emailin'. Posted a new item? You'd better bet that's an emailin'.

    5. The little paper plane. I swear to baby jesus, 70-80% of the chat interactions were from someone accidentally pressing the little paper plane on every listing (mind you this paper plane icon takes up 30-40% of the listing image). So no one is interested and it creates unnecessary notification spam.

    6. Need to delete the account? Contact customer service. This is such deceptive UX design (Dark Patterns) to keep your account active and to keep you using the app. It's utter garbage. I mean, their name is 'letgo' but they can't let you go about deleting your account...what garbage.

At this point, this isn't an app for selling, it's an app to spam you with unnecessary notifications and to keep you using a terrible "app."

Send Anytime - An app that allows you to schedule SMS for later

    Posted: 05 Jul 2018 06:53 AM PDT

    Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.arnold.sendanytime

    Hi guys,

I added more features to an existing app I own. Basically, it allows you to schedule SMS to be sent at a specific time in the future. This app can be used for different objectives:

    • Send yourself a reminder
    • Send a reminder to your friends
    • Use as a safety mechanism: Text someone to pick you up downtown after a night out before you get wasted.
    • Never forget that birthday text
    • Stay busy, keep texting!

Please enjoy and let me know what you think/needs improvement.

    Cheers!

I'm looking to find an app to help me quit smoking that doesn't require permissions.

    Posted: 05 Jul 2018 11:34 AM PDT

I had one installed on my old phone that didn't require any permissions. It was just a simple timer and counter for number of cigarettes smoked.

I can't seem to find it again, it was called quit smoking. Any help would be appreciated greatly!

Thoughts on the best Reddit application?

    Posted: 05 Jul 2018 11:09 AM PDT

For maybe at least two years I have only used Sync for Reddit. While in my opinion it's one of the better apps out there I'm thinking of using and experiencing something new. What are your thoughts and which application are you using? Is there any specific reason why you chose that specific app? Thoughts on the official Reddit app? I have tried it a bit and it seems sweet, what's your experience?

[DEV] - Promo Codes - An App that helps you track client calls and SMS on your CRM

    Posted: 05 Jul 2018 04:57 AM PDT

RoloCRM - Free for the first user. Ask me for a promo code if you want to add your team. You need to have a Zoho/Hubspot/Freshsales account to use this app.

    SUMMARY:

    1. The app's name is RoloCRM - It is not a CRM by itself. It integrates with Zoho, Hubspot and Freshsales

    2. The app helps you log client calls and SMS automatically to your CRM. It does a lot of other things (see description below)

    3. Works only on Android

    4. You need this app only if you use your cellular connection for business. If you use a VOIP system, you probably don't need this app.

    PRICING AND PROMO CODES:

    1. RoloCRM is free for the first user. Costs $4.99/Month for a team of 3 (not per user but total) and goes up from there

    2. The promo code I am offering gives you 90% off for the first year only. Please ask for the code after you have tried it out for yourself (it's free for one person) and you think you will be setting up your team.

    Google Play Link - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.netmine.rolo.crm&hl=en_IN

    DETAILS:

Now that that's out of the way, let's talk about what you can do with the app.

The first obviously is that RoloCRM automatically logs 'client' calls and SMS directly on to your CRM. Ideally you don't need to open the app to see value. You can keep calling and texting your customers and the app keeps logging. The app logs only those calls and messages that you get from your customers. Personal calls/sms are not logged. https://i.imgur.com/yVMxJQh.png

When you need to open the app, it is super slick and easy. It looks and works like the stock dialer/contacts/sms. Think of it as a CRM with a dialer front-end. For example, if you want to add a note after a call it is just two taps. https://i.imgur.com/CEcVKrn.png

If you are the boss, you can view calls that salespersons make. You can also gently prod them to add an update. We added a chat like interface to notes for an interactive experience. https://i.imgur.com/Ysfr87C.png

The whole idea is to collaborate around customer interactions and then capture it in the CRM https://i.imgur.com/LH3cqJO.png

During a call, we throw up a badge (looks like a chat head). Tap on that badge to get information from the CRM and also add notes and reminders. When your team gets value from past notes, they will want to add notes! https://i.imgur.com/rxciDgv.png

There are a bunch of other features

    • Business card scan
    • SMS Scheduler
    • Reminders

    https://i.imgur.com/CtaV4Ol.png

I would love it if you guys could try it and tell me what you think. What integrations should I add? What features does it need? Does it work well for you and so on. You can reach out to me on the support chat. It is under the three-dot menu on the top right.

    About Permissions:

Here is the rationale for the permissions we ask for.

    1. Contacts - RoloCRM accesses your contacts only when you need to import your phonebook into your CRM. We do not store your personal contacts on our servers when you use RoloCRM.
    2. SMS - To log client SMS to your CRM. You can also send SMS to your clients and read them from the app.
    3. Phone - To log client calls to your CRM.You can also call your clients from the app.
    4. Photos/Media/Files - Used for business card scanning, attachments for notes.
    5. Storage - Used only if you send diagnostic data for debugging.
    6. Device ID and Call Information - When you receive a call from a client, we automatically pull up client info from the CRM. You can access it by tapping the badge that appears on your screen.
    7. Draw Over Other Apps - To draw the badge mentioned above.

Feel free to ask me if you think I need to explain something better.

To Do List app that allows to set the date as a range and not only as a point in the time.

    Posted: 05 Jul 2018 12:08 PM PDT

I'm searching a free to do list app that allows to set a range for my tasks. TickTick has this feature but it's premium. Do you know an alternative?

Best back-up app ? (NO ROOT)

    Posted: 05 Jul 2018 07:04 AM PDT

    Hi,

So here's the thing, at least, I am taking the leap. I've decided to upgrade my phone (Lollipop to Marshmallow).

But I'd like to keep my SMS, apps, configurations and the data that goes with applications. (Like the conversations of whats app)

Can someone recommend me an app to do that? I've read that My Backup was good but does it do all the things listed above ?

    Thanks heaps!

Music player that allows/actually searches by file name?

    Posted: 05 Jul 2018 10:50 AM PDT

I keep trying to search for my music by filename which is what I do literally all the time on my desktop, but when I'm on my phone this only works if I'm using the builtin file browser which is a problem because I can't play more than one song from here and I can't create playlists either.

Google play music and Musicolet both have the same issue and give the same results, I've tried re-downloading my music to no avail.

Is there some sort of cache or directory where the information for these files is stored? I want to make my device "forget" what it assigns to the music so it can refresh or something.

Automatic Phone Call Recording App that also automatically records calls made using SKYPE, FB Messenger, etc?

    Posted: 05 Jul 2018 03:29 AM PDT

I recently installed the Call Recorder App that automatically records all phone calls I make but I noticed it doesn't record calls using Facebook Messenger, SKYPE, etc. and it only records "real phone calls" made with my phone number. Can anyone recommend an app that automatically records all types of calls, not only calls made using my phone number?

Frustrated of wasting so much time trying to find pieces of code through Activities, Fragments and XML

    Posted: 05 Jul 2018 05:00 AM PDT

I have a mobile app and it's code base is growing very fast. Whenever I need to implement a new feature or even a simple fix I find my self navigating between lots of files. For example, I had an Activity which has a ViewPager which has some fragments. In order to create a simple feature I had to change the XML of one fragment, change the fragment, the ViewPager Adapter and the Activity. But it was terrible navigating between so much files in Android Studio. Finding all these files was even harder. I always try to create naming patterns for my fragments, activities and view ids but in the middle of the project I find myself lost in those naming because of the changes the project suffers. How do you guys deal with it?

Best email app with Oreo notification badges?

    Posted: 05 Jul 2018 12:11 PM PDT

I've been using MailWise for the last couple of years, but it seems to have gotten worse the more I use it. Just recently the notification widget has stopped working altogether. This is a deal-breaker for me.

I next tried to use K9 (I like the idea that it's community-developed), but I can't get it to connect to my Exchange server at work.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a decent email app with notification badges. I have an LG V30 with Oreo installed, so in theory, they should work. I need the notification badge so I can keep an eye on emails outside work (requirement, not choice) without getting tons of notifications on my phone.

    Thanks!

    Casper alternative, possible?

    Posted: 05 Jul 2018 10:10 AM PDT

If people remember Casper, it's been a Snapchat mod to save Stories, Snaps and many more features we all love. I bet you all know why we used such a mod and for the same case you did definitely too. Is there a development for a alternative or is the fork mine a sand dune? I wouldn't mind if there is a paid acess version against the publicity, I'd rather pay for such service to keep it alive as well as it's done on private internet trackers.

    Hi r/androidapps,

I'm looking for a calendar widget that can display my monthly calendar in a timeline format, like my old LG G3 had - each event as a line, corresponding to when the event starts and finishes.

I've found lots that'll do this for multiple day events, but none that work for events within one day?

Seeking Advice - Feedme (rss reader) appears to be creating .hidden folders/files that match those belonging to a malware package

    Posted: 04 Jul 2018 02:55 PM PDT

A couple weeks ago, the following appeared on my device:

    /sdcard/Android/obj/.um/sysid.dat

    /sdcard/Android/data/.um/sysid.dat

    /sdcard/.um/sysid.dat

    /sdcard/foo

When I search for info on these, I get results for malware such as the following:

    https://vms.drweb.com/virus/?i=15272609&lng=en

edit: I'm replacing a long-winded explanation of the trial/error route I took to discover Feedme was creating these files to simply say that the Corpse Finder module of SD Maid flags them when I uninstall Feedme. So I'm just left with trying to figure out if these are harmless files or related to the malware my searches point to.

Do other feedme users have these on their system? Should I be concerned about them or are they perhaps tied to the Chinese analytics company the app is using ( https://github.com/seazon/FeedMe/blob/master/privacy_and_security.md )

I've been using feedme for quite a while now, and this has just become an issue the last couple weeks. Any advice would be appreciated, thank you! :)
