Dim Display on Lenovo Flex 5? Help? Posted: 23 Feb 2018 09:08 AM PST Hello, everyone! I recently purchased the Lenovo Flex 5 14" (on sale, so within my budget) and I've fallen in love with just about everything except the display. Even when I put the brightness to 100% the colors seem completely dim and washed out. I compared the screen to my old ASUS laptop and my iPhone and there's a major difference there. I just wanted to know if anyone else has had that problem before, and whether or not it's fixable. I'm planning on doing a lot of photo editing so the dim display is going to be a problem. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
Anyone have the new samsung notebook 9? Posted: 23 Feb 2018 08:21 AM PST Specifally this 15 in. model with 16gb ram and the mx150: There's no reviews on it that I could find (besides the 2 on amazon) and I want a little more info on it before purchasing. [link] [comments]
Hp Omen 15 2017 (non 120Hz) Battery Life Posted: 23 Feb 2018 05:14 AM PST Hey guys, So I've been eyeing this laptop for a long time now. It's the Hp Omen 15 2017 (the fighter jet looking one) but with the standard full hd ips panel (not the 120hz gsync panel). I've seen that the battery life on the 120hz panel laptop is abysmal but I literally can't find any information about the battery life of the non 120 hz display model. If anyone has any information about it, please do share. [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Feb 2018 04:54 AM PST Hey guys I'm really stuck on whether to choose the dell xps 13 9360 with the i5 8250u or the 2016 MacBook pro baseline model? I'll be mainly using the laptop for programming and college use. [link] [comments]
Strange feeking under the fingers when charging cable is not connected? Posted: 22 Feb 2018 10:12 PM PST Hy, I woke up and as usual I sit behind my laptop and started to do my work. But this time it was different. Well when I touch my laptop it feels weird (like small micro vibrations under my fingers and static electricity). So in this moment charging cable was off...i turned laptop off -> SAME ....removed battery -> Same...so i just tried to put cable back inside and when charging cable touch housing of laptop strange feeling dissapear. Really wierd :( It is ASUS G771J. Can somebody suggest what it is and what should I do, because my master thesis is up there and I need to finish it :/ P.S. Looking for a decent laptop for university Posted: 22 Feb 2018 06:51 PM PST Hi guys, so I've just started at university and need a good laptop. The absolute highest my budget will go is $1000 however I live in New Zealand so this is New Zealand dollars. Unfortunately New Zealand has a rather small range of laptops and I am struggling to find a decent one. I will mainly be using the laptop for coding in python, web browsing, taking notes, watching YouTube and occasionally watching twitch so a good battery life and processer are essential. The laptop will have to last me at least 3 years. The best available laptop I have found so far is a Lenovo ideapad however I'm not too sure about it's Apu. https://www.warehousestationery.co.nz/product/W2383887.html#start=1 Gaming is not an issue as I will be looking at getting a proper gaming pc at the end of this year/start of next. If anyone has some suggestions for laptops or ideas that would be much appreciated. And remember that if you manage to find some good laptops, they have to be able to be shipped to NZ and in total be less than $1000 NZD. [link] [comments]

Manufacturer will not provide international warranty; opinions on insurance? Posted: 22 Feb 2018 11:14 PM PST So I'm about to buy a huawei matebook x from amazon US and am located in AUS. Amazon provide 30 day DOA warranty, my amex card provides 90 day insurance, but Huawei wont help me if the laptop is faulty from day 1. This laptop has the best specs for price and is really the laptop ive been looking for over the passed 6 months. I'm just worried that something will fault and it won't last it's lifetime (3-5 years??) Does anyone recommend goign with an insurance company? [link] [comments]
The Aero 15 sucks... (Or is it just my unit) Posted: 22 Feb 2018 06:07 PM PST Does anyone else have the right click lag on desktop or a lag when trying to open file explorer from the taskbar when opposed to opening it through Win + E or through the start menu? I also have a 960 pro installed and the boot times take up to 20-30 seconds. Another issue I'm experiencing is that the lower the battery level, the poorer the performance gets. Of I'm at 90% of a charge, the Netflix app will open in less than 2 seconds to the menu screen. If I'm at 30%, it takes up to 10 – even if I'm on high performance mode in smart manager and windows power settings. Anybody else experiencing these issues? [link] [comments]
Looking for help picking out a dual purpose work / gaming ultrabook or lighter weight laptop Posted: 22 Feb 2018 05:59 PM PST Posted to suggest a laptop already but have been looking for opinions on several different ultrabooks / laptops. I have been looking at the Razer Stealth and Zenbook 3 Deluxe ultrabook. I had been looking at the Razer Blade as well because it was more powerful and had a slightly larger screen, but discounted it for complaints over extreme noise from the compact frame and fans. I mostly just play League of Legends but am looking for something strong enough to play titles at a decent framerate on low to moderate settings for the next few years. Concerns with the stealth is its lower battery life and potential noise issues as well, and is 13.3 in where as the Zenbook 14". I don't know as much about the Zenbook's complaints however. The 8th gen stealth is currently 1649 and the Zenbook is on sale for 1499. I am more focused on the feel of the laptops keyboard and trackpad / button more than having the most powerful machine. Any advice recommendations or questions would be excellent and I'd be more than willing to discuss and elaborate further. [link] [comments]
Posted: 22 Feb 2018 09:31 PM PST Since 390.xx Nvidia update I'm no longer able to see GPU OC icon which makes me unable to set the GPU temp below 50C. I have Dream Machines and I use Control Center. [link] [comments]
Do I need to fiddle with undervolt with my yoga 720 Posted: 22 Feb 2018 04:50 PM PST I keep seeing how undervolting is crucial to get better performance from the lenovo 720 but I noticed most of them had the i7 7700 instead of the i5 7300 which I have. I was playing withcer 3 at high settings 1080p with some settings set to ultra and was very smooth and reached max 76-77 degrees. Although the battery performance was set to high, and was plugged to power. However I didn't know how to check cpu temps or clock speed nor do I know if turbo boost is enabled or not. If so, what's a good guide to go about? [link] [comments]

Posted: 22 Feb 2018 07:35 PM PST So, I am looking for a portable laptop that I can use at home hooked up to a monitor for school purposes. I sometimes play LoL on my laptop, but from my understanding, it is not a demanding game, making it a moot point. Between the below laptops, which should I get? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XKW9M56/ref=psdc_13896615011_t3_B074PK14WQ https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077YPSPQQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I am leaning towards HP cause it is just sexier. I have a huge problem with my laptop (long story) Posted: 22 Feb 2018 06:30 PM PST Strap in boys, this ones a long one A couple years ago, my parents decided to buy me a "gaming" laptop. I had wanted one for a while, but never had the money to get one. They got me an Acer laptop. They told me it was specifically designed for gaming, but I soon found out that was complete bullshit. This is one of the worst pieces of shit I've ever worked with. I eventually got a job (I'm a sophomore in high school and had a job my freshman year) and saved my money to build a PC that can actually run Google Chrome. You may be asking, why do you still have this laptop? Well, I have to use it for school, since those are now required we all use. It's an Acer Aspire E 15, which has some good reviews on Amazon I guess. Once I realized my parents were wrong about it being a gaming machine, I decided I could use it for school. From what I saw in the reviews, it was a pretty good machine that could handle doing some work. The laptop was broken from day one. I have never seen a laptop so terrible, and I know mine was broken since my brother had the same laptop and his worked fine. Here's a list of shit it can't do:
The list can go on and on. I've never seen a computer so terrible on arrival. My parents didn't let me send it into Acer for the warranty, which has expired. They won't let me get another laptop and I currently don't have the money to do so. They can't just grasp how hard it is to use in school. I've been yelled at on several occasions in school because my laptop couldn't keep up. I'm tired of using it, and I don't know what to do anymore. If anyone can help me on what to do, if I can get it replaced by Acer, recommendations for a new one, etc. it would be so appreciated TL;DR my laptop is complete shit, it has been on arrival. My parents won't let me get another one or send it in because the warranty expired. It's near impossible to use and school and as such I'm falling behind. [link] [comments]
Non-Widescreen Windows Laptops Posted: 22 Feb 2018 06:21 PM PST Does any one know what modern laptops use a 3-2 or 4-3 aspect ratio? I know the Surface Laptop does, but wonder if there's anything else worth considering. [link] [comments]
Is my graphics card good for light gaming Posted: 22 Feb 2018 03:21 PM PST I have a 13 inch macbook pro with an Intel Iris Plus Graphics 650 1536 MB I wanted to know if it is good for light gaming I've noticed that I've had to set the graphics on games to 720p or lower. [link] [comments]
Posted: 22 Feb 2018 02:54 PM PST Hello! I have a Dell Inspiron 15 7559 gaming laptop, and I have been experiencing some issues for the past, three months? Sometimes when I open the cover and press the power button, the keyboard lights will turn lit, but not the screen. I have to power it off and try again, maybe move a bit the screen to make it work. The LED will flash 2 orange and 7 white. Most of the time when I do this coming from hibernation, I will lose all my data -because i had to shut it down I've read that code is "process failure" but what does that mean? My warranty has expired (I have had this laptop for about two years now) is it worh it taking it to a Dell store? should i get another one? (from another brand, I heard Dell laptops aren't good for gaming --something like ROG Asus or MSI) Performance wise the laptop is like day one, i ran some benchmarks and everything seems fine.
