- First time bought a laptop. Is this normal. Only one drive and its only 237Gb. Out of which 198 GB is free. I thought new laptops had 500 plus Gb of memory. I don't know much about laptops so that's why I am positing this.

Who prefers a laptop over a desktop? Posted: 02 Oct 2019 07:20 AM PDT I'm curious for those who could have both, or have made the choice to have a laptop, to why you made that choice and do you ever get the urge for a desktop? [link] [comments]

Why can I NOT find a decent quality laptop with the specs I want? Posted: 02 Oct 2019 12:42 PM PDT Just to clarify, the specs that I want ARE out there, just not with any brands that I want. I've had problems with Lenovo in the past and have heard nightmares with Dell and HP. So, with that, I am looking for a laptop with the following: 15"-15.6" Ryzen 5 or 7 (Or Intel equiv) Vega 8 or 10 (Or Nvidia equiv) - something decent that will run casual games and perform well 16gb RAM 250gb - 500gb SSD I SHOULD MENTION - I want something sleek, NOT bulky. For this reason I have scrapped the idea of getting any ASUS or ACER with these specs (Aspire 3 / TUF). I know I'm being picky, but I thought this would be easier! Help me Reddit! P.S. I am considering waiting for the Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 - thoughts? Thanks! EDIT: I should mention, this is going to be primarily for work, some casual use, so this is why I am straying away from most "gaming" laptops. And Price is not really an issue. [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Oct 2019 11:30 AM PDT Going to university and need a laptop for work and for gaming (e.g. rainbow 6) any suggestion I need it to be thin and light. I have £900 but can go up a little bit if it's worth it. [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Oct 2019 01:19 AM PDT Hey, I'm looking for a laptop to be used for college and a bit of gaming. My budget is around 850$, and I don't look for something too high-end gaming-wise. After a lot of research, I found these two laptops: Acer Nitro 5 VS Dell G3 15-3579. I'd appreciate your thoungs about them, which one is better in your opinion? (Please make sure to see the specific spec I linked above, because each of them has various configurations). Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Oct 2019 01:47 PM PDT Hello I have a laptop that I just started to re use again. It had been sitting in my closet for about 2 years. I started to install all the new updates it needed until it came to the amd driver updates. The driver I have now is outdated but when I try installing the current version I get through everything up until the user agreement but it won't do anything when I click accept and install. Please someone help!! [link] [comments]

Will the razer blade stealth 13" 2019 last 3/4 years? Posted: 02 Oct 2019 08:35 AM PDT Will the i7, mx150 version last 3-4 years? It's for school and Ill game occasionally, mostly rainbow six siege and fifa. Would it be a rational choice to buy the blade stealth now, as there is a $300 discount? Because ive heard razer products aren't worth the money as they run into a lot of issues. [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Oct 2019 12:01 PM PDT If I can do light gaming on it then that is a plus. I'm currently looking at the Acer a515-43-R19L. And Acer EE-576-392H [link] [comments]
Looking for a laptop that doesn't scream "gamer". Posted: 02 Oct 2019 11:08 AM PDT Total budget and country of purchase: $1,500 USD, United States Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. Best specifications for the money, okay battery life. How important is weight and thinness to you? I don't want to it to be too huge. I know gaming laptops are hefty. Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. Windows 10 Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 15"+ Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Gaming, and writing. Steam, Origin, whatever else. If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Highest settings possible. 60 FPS. Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Build quality, good keyboard. Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I'm in my mid 20's. I don't game like I used to, but I would like to have a machine when I go on long trips. I'm looking for something that is not over the top, that doesn't stick out. I want something mellow. Something simple and clean. No huge emblems, logos, or crazy colors. Performance is key. [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Oct 2019 10:49 AM PDT I want to get a laptop to play sims 4 and all the expansions as well as some light web surfing and potentially down the line, small business management. I have poured over this decision for days and just can't seem to decide because I just don't know enough. Could anyone recommend a laptop. Looking to spend about 500-800 but will consider all options? [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Oct 2019 10:44 AM PDT I recently purchased the Prestige 15 after returning the PS63. It was the same price so i figured the slight hardware upgrade would be worth the exchange. The PS63 was getting probably 10-12 hours of use on a full charge with light use and low brightness/undervolted, maybe 6-8 if i'm streaming video. Now that i have the Prestige 15, which is the same exact laptop other than a slightly newer 6 core CPU and a 1650 max-q, i'm getting estimates of 5-6 hours with low brightness even when it's just sitting there not being used. Anyone have experience with this laptop yet and have any ideas what i should do? [link] [comments]
Guess I'm asking for piece of mind Posted: 02 Oct 2019 10:03 AM PDT I'm about to purchase this laptop from someone for a really good deal. I just want to be assured that this can handle very heavy video editing when I get around to it. It's an MSI GT75 VR Titan Pro 4K-214 SPECS: DISPLAY: 17.3 UHD 4K eDP IPS-Level 3840x2160 PROCESSOR: i7-7700HQ (2.8-3.8 GHz) GRAPHICS: NVIDIA GeForce GTX1080 8GB RAM: 32GB DDR4 2400 MHz HARD DRIVE: 256GB (PCIE Gen3x4) + 1TB SATA 7200 RPM Additional information: from what I can tell it was produced around the last quarter of 2017, it was purchased either 2018 or 2019 and it comes with warranty as well. He had upgraded the RAM from 16GB to 32GB himself. But it's gonna be $1100 for me so is this a good investment? I'm thinking of adding upgrades at a later point but I wonder if this initial investment is worth it. Thanks for any replies you might have. [link] [comments]

Charger port overheating-Asus RoG G53SX Posted: 02 Oct 2019 08:27 AM PDT Hello guy,i have problem with my laptop,he is constantly overheated in area of charger port. When i try to start windows it goes up in 3th try and when is up constantly changing brightness settings. I changed 3 chargers other 2 are literally exploded and was super scary. First i was thinking that problem is with charger, because 1st charger that i got with laptop was in very bad condition, and 2nd was some chinese charger form aliexpress, but 3rd charger that i am using right now is original asus charger so i think that chargers are not problem here. By the way battery on this laptop is dead so its charging directly from power socket. [link] [comments]
Small, cheap, Linux installed laptop Posted: 02 Oct 2019 08:05 AM PDT Pretty much in the title, I was wondering if anyone had good leads on a machine that checks those boxes. Or if it would be easier to get some free Linux os and put it on a Chromebook or something if possible [link] [comments]

Need help in choosing a laptop! Posted: 02 Oct 2019 07:04 AM PDT Hi all, Looking for a portable laptop that can handle some light gaming (Rimworld, League of Legends, Persona4 on ps2 emulator, Civ 5). Only condition is for the laptop to have a good keyboard and touchpad (a smooth touchpad like a macbook). Prefer a lighter laptop since I'm using it for masters, but laptops that weigh like 2.3kg I'm fine with. Budget is $1200 max. Thanks. [link] [comments]

Microsoft Surface Go or Samsung S5e Tab? Posted: 02 Oct 2019 06:08 AM PDT Hi all, I wanting to buy a 2 in one tablet\laptop type thing. I want something fairly small and light weight. At the moment I would mostly use the computer for video calls, watching videos\ net flix, listening to music and browsing the web. Particularly Video calls need to be good quality. However I will most likely go back to uni next year so I will also need to use the laptop for Microsoft word for writing and editing assignments and saving and sending assignments, moving files from my terribyte to my computer and possibly programs such as PowerPoint, and photo shop etc. It dosent need to be a two in 1 but it would be good to find something small and light weight I can use for both work and play. I have been looking at the Microsoft Surface go 4 Gig Ram 64gig memory which is $599.00 plus $149.00 for the keyboard in Australia, or the S5E 4 Gig Ram 64gig memory (Samsung), which is $639.00 plus $189.00 for the keyboard in Australia. I don't really wanna spend much more than $800.00. I didn't really wanna spend much more than $500.00 to be honest but I think I am dreaming there. Any suggestions for either of the two or even another computer entirely is much appreciated :). [link] [comments]
