Ever since Android 10, "Share a link" is awkward. Help? Posted: 03 Nov 2019 08:46 PM PST Hi everyone, every since the Android 10 update, the ability to Share a link has been awkward. When I say "Share a link", I mean the functionality where, if you're looking at a web page (or whatever), you can hit a little 3-dot triangle thing, which brings up a "Share" list of apps you can share it through. (It will copy the link of the current page into whatever app you're sharing it to.) With Android 9, Share brought up two rows of 4 icons each. The bottom row was apps in general (like Hangouts, Keep, or Gmail), and the top row was specific people to be shared with. It worked fine, because I mostly share to a few Hangout people or groups, which would appear on the top row. I can only imagine that this was using some intelligent functionality that tracked the most common places I wanted to Share. It worked fine. But with Android 10, the top row is practically a random selection of people I might contact. Every single one is through SMS - even one for myself (an SMS to my own phone). For one of these four contacts, I think I only SMS'ed them once ever, over a year ago. It has dropped the Hangouts I used to regularly Share to, and put in place 4 SMSs that I NEVER Share to. And I don't see any way to change it. It has stayed exactly the same way, with the same 4 useless SMSs, since I updated to Android 10 some months ago. Is this making sense? When I try to google on it, all I get are hundreds of articles on Android 10. Can anyone help? It's annoying to lose a useful feature for no apparent reason, with no recourse. [link] [comments] |
When does the OnePlus 7 Pro get Android 10? Posted: 03 Nov 2019 11:14 AM PST Just got the GM1917 US model. I haven't gotten the Android 10 update yet. [link] [comments] |
Assistant can't control music?!? Posted: 03 Nov 2019 05:59 PM PST So apparently Google Assistant can't play/pause, skip or repeat songs. I have a Moto Z4 on Android 9, so I'm wondering if it's just the phone, or if it's an issue across all devices? [link] [comments] |
Pixel 3 Ringing while on vibrate. Posted: 03 Nov 2019 04:55 PM PST I have a pixel 3 on verizon and it was recently upgraded to android 10. While it is on vibrate if i get a call from suspected spam caller it will ring on full volume. If i get a call from someone in my address book then it will just vibrate like normal. Is there a way to fix this? I have tried restarting my phone. Putting it on silent and going through my do not disturb to check all those settings. Thank you [link] [comments] |
Very important question about security Posted: 03 Nov 2019 08:09 PM PST Hello, I would like to know if there is a way someone might have access to my location... some things have been happening in my life and one explanation for them would be that someone has access to my phone location or messages. Is there a way to know? Could that person possibly access my location remotely? My google account has 2-factor authentification and it doesn't seem hacked. That person had access to my phone once but only for a short period of time, less than 5min, would that be enough to idk download an app that shows your location to him or my messages or whatever. Thank you. [link] [comments] |
How can i transfer *everything* including apps and app passwords from a device to another? Posted: 03 Nov 2019 02:38 PM PST I was setting up my mom's new phone. I entered her Google credentials. And it transfered a few things, but not everything. I had to reinstall a few apps. And in those apps, i had to put in the login credential (email and passwords), because it didn't remember them. Now she handed me down her old phone (S8 Galaxy), and i am trying to transfer my old stuff (From Xiaomi Redmi Note 4) into this new phone. But again merely with Google account it's not complete transfer, and i'd rather not have to add backe verything individually and put back the passwords because honestly i'm not sure if i remember all my passwords. EDIT: I consider this solved [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Nov 2019 07:43 PM PST Why every time I enable sRGB in Developer Options it disables it on its own after pressing back or pressing the home button. It does that with all devices I used. (Oppo F7 ColorOS 6, Pixel 3 Emulator Android 10, Nokia 6.1 plus android pie, Nova 3i Emui 9) [link] [comments] |
Question about RCS with Messages app Posted: 03 Nov 2019 12:43 PM PST So I went through the setup process and added RCS to my Messages app. Does the person on the other end have to be using the same Messages app or be on a carrier that supports RCS for this to work? [link] [comments] |
Is there a program like SpaceSniffer for Android? Posted: 03 Nov 2019 09:21 PM PST SpaceSniffer shows you a map of all your files and folder sizes so you know what's taking up space easily. Unfortunately, SpaceSniffer can't detect my phone when I connect it to my PC. [link] [comments] |
What ROMs are compatible with the Samsung Galaxy J3 Emerge? Posted: 03 Nov 2019 08:53 PM PST I recently upgraded my phone but I still have my old J3 Emerge sitting around collecting dust. I recently started using it as a WiFi repeater for my laptop because it has a dual band wifi card but my laptop does not. I've decided I want to start messing around with custom ROMs just for fun but I don't know which ones will actually work with my phone. I've looked at the compatibility chart for Lineage and it doesn't appear on it, but I can't find any other compatibility charts for other custom ROMs. All I need out of a custom ROM is something that has USB tethering capabilities and any other features would just be a bonus. How can I change the Lock-screen notification banner colour? (Pie) Posted: 03 Nov 2019 04:55 PM PST So at the moment I have night mode on Android Pie, when my phone is in use the drop down/pop up notification banners are black (good) but when my phone is on the lock screen the notification banner is white (bad). I'm aware that you can change the transparency of this but is there anyway to change the colour (without changing the theme or rooting)? [link] [comments] |
Is this phone bricked? Can't get passed FRPs Posted: 03 Nov 2019 10:02 PM PST Someone gave me a galaxy S10 They found it at their job and it was never claimed. Phone had a pattern on it and I had no idea what it was. I put the phone into recovery mode and wiped it. While trying to set up Android, the phone is still asking me for the pattern or email account associated with this device. I called t mobile and was transferred to Samsung. They told me that the phone needs to be serviced and the only way it can be unlocked is with proof of purchase. Without that the device is unusable. Is this really the case? I'd this phone essentially bricked? Some help would be appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Nov 2019 09:58 PM PST Is it possible to preview vcard (placed online as a file or QR code), the same way it's done for NFC? How it works for nfc: https://youtu.be/NCkBAELTODk Firefox just saves vcard silently, without asking any questions. Trying to open it with contacts asks where to import it. [link] [comments] |
Disabling Absolute Volume in the Developer Options on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow not possible? Posted: 03 Nov 2019 02:11 PM PST So, I'm trying to solve the problem of low volume on Airpods when connected to my Android phone (Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo). It has Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. I can't find the option to disable Absolute Volume in the Developer Options. Is it generally not available for my phone, or am I missing something? PS: There are no updates available for my device, sadly. [link] [comments] |
Special keys don't work in Android Terminal Posted: 03 Nov 2019 02:03 PM PST https://giphy.com/gifs/android-terminal-special-keys-Vh3VrQRYcrMncyvNCb Android terminal says I can use special keys by hitting volume up and then a corresponding key. As you can see, I hit volume up, a side arrow appears, but when I type in a letter, it doesn't acknowledge it as a command and acts like I'm just entering normal text input Any idea what I'm doing wrong? What is the easiest way to sign into a public network on an android device? Posted: 03 Nov 2019 12:35 PM PST I live in NYC. I use the subway, go to my gym and to the library frequently. All of these places have free public networks that you have to sign into every time you use them. I had an android a few years ago, an iphone in the interim and switched back to android earlier this summer. One of the reasons I switched back was because I remember it being a lot easier to connect to public networks with my last android. However, with my current phone, it's the same frustration I had with the iphone. I automatically connect to the network because I've used it before, but I have to disconnect/forget the network three or four times to get the log in page to display. While I'm connected to the network but not signed in, my phone doesn't update any other wireless activity. I feel like this can't be a design flaw, it's just my ignorance in not knowing the actual way you're supposed to log in. Reddit, please illuminate my stupidity, because I am sick of taking up to 5 minutes logging into public networks. [link] [comments] |

Family members phone acting strange Posted: 03 Nov 2019 12:26 PM PST His phones home and prompt (right button) don't seem to work even though it's being registered by making a noise. Only back seems to be working. I did try switching navigation keys and the problems just switched over. Another issue is that apps aren't updating (it jjust says update pending). I also believe the camera isn't working either. I checked memory and it doesn't seem full. I tried checking running services in Dev mode but for some reason developer options doesn't open anymore (I even tried re-anabling it but didn't work). I checked if there was any sketchy apps but just some games from the play store. I also checked if there were any system updates and nothing. I'm thinking the OS is corrupted but not sure what options I have but factory resetting (which might not even work). Any advice? [link] [comments] |
Galaxy s10e can only connect to bluetooth for calls Posted: 03 Nov 2019 04:10 PM PST Hey dudes, had the s10e for about 6 months now. Last night got in my car and it only connects to my car bluetooth for calls, not media audio despite working completely fine up until now. I tried restarting phone, turning airplane on and off, clearing bluetooth cache and data, checking for software updates(no updates) and resetting network settings but no dice with any of it. Anyone have any idea what's going on? Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |

Posted: 03 Nov 2019 03:10 PM PST Is there an android messaging app with Twilio as the backend? I'm hoping to port my number to Twilio since carrier SMS/MMS delivery is unreliable. A small percentage of text messages are never received. [link] [comments] |

Is there any way to make the google assistant use a different app for reminders? Posted: 03 Nov 2019 11:02 AM PST I kinda just want to use the built in samsung galaxy reminders app instead of going through the google assistant. Mostly because it has a clean widget I can leave on my homescreen for easy viewing throughout the day to see what I need to get done. [link] [comments] |
