Tried using OneDrive and got my desktop files deleted Posted: 01 Nov 2019 05:41 PM PDT Was curious about the Tips section on Windows 10 that suggest to start a backup with OneDrive, never done it since I already use other online sistems to store a copy of my files.5 Minutes later, OneDrive finishes his "Synchronization" with every Desktop file while I wasn't watching the desktop directly90% of my Desktop files GONE, a couple of txt files full of codes gone, EVERY desktop icon for any game or program that was linked to a folder is GONE, the rest of the icons are all moved automatically on the right-up corner of the desktop.I there anything I can do to put everything back without going on every game or program that I need to keep? How does OneDrive deletes images or any sort of file without saying anything? Edit: SOLVED by finding everything on the web app storage, but still, why is this a thing? [link] [comments]
Need help with a windows 2000 page file problem Posted: 01 Nov 2019 12:56 PM PDT Hello all, so i run cnc machinery and one of my machines has a secondary pc integrated in the controller with windows 2000 and my cam software. This allows me to program parts while my machine is running. I have multiple machines with this configuration. I wanted to have all my programs switched over to another machine so i removed the 80gb hdd and installed into my machine as a slave drive. I transfered all my programs over no problem. The problem came about when i returned the slave drive to its original machine. I boot up and get to the login screen with no problems. I login and everything seems to be good then i get hit with limited virtual memory. Your system has no paging file or the paging file is to small. Then it lists step by step how to increase the page file size. Seems easy enough except when i click ok to this error message it sends me back to the login screen. Ive attempted safety mode but same problem. I can login and use the machine when both hdds are plugged in but now my other machine doesnt have the usability of the cam software. Someone suggested i delete the page file by booting from a boot disk and deleting it thru command prompt? In my attempts to remedy ive been able to get the pc to boot from both hdds. But not without the other hdd installed. Im pretty good with computers but this is beyond me and im not sure where to go or what questions to even ask. Please help! Hopefully this will at least be nostalgic for some. For those interested my cnc machine is a fadal 45/25 and the cam software is gibbscam sfp. [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Nov 2019 04:57 PM PDT 2-3 hours ago I did a full factory reset (I think that's the term) for my Windows 10 pc. It took about 10 minutes before it reached this boot screen and has just stayed the same ever since. Pressing any keys on my keyboard won't do anything either (delete, f11, ETC). Anyone got any ideas? [link] [comments]
UAC From The Same Devices When I Open My Computer Posted: 01 Nov 2019 05:53 PM PDT Hi everyone, whenever I open my computer the same things happen. I get about 3 or 4 of the same apps asking "do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device". I understand it was put into place to keep dangerous apps from running in the background. I thought about changing my UAC setting to never notify but I felt that could result in me getting a virus. Is there anyway I could make the specific apps that keep asking to change my device stop? It blurs the whole screen and interrupts stuff. Thanks [link] [comments]

Help me before I pull the plug. Posted: 01 Nov 2019 11:43 AM PDT [Windows 10 Home] Is anyone else experiencing serious CPU troubles since a few updates? About a month ago, right after an update, my not-so-bad equipped PC had an CPU(Intel i54960K 4×3.5 GHz) usage of constant 100%, no matter how many programs were running. GPU and RAM are just fine, constantly under 20%. Especially firefox doesn't get the smallest shit done, YouTube videos will freeze after about 8s. The task manager shows that 2 windows processes are taking 13-18% each, audiosrv and AudioEndpointBuilder. Suspiciously, some headphones are constantly connecting and disconnecting, but only my headset is connected and works fine. In games the sound is disrupted, like every 5s for 2s. The games themselves run fluent most of the time. Hoped Microsoft would hotfix this problem, but nothing changed. System information: Windows version: 1903, installed 8. October 2 monitors GTX 970 16 GB RAM Edit: some English [link] [comments]

How to backup the preinstalled Windows 10 Home license key before activation? Posted: 01 Nov 2019 01:09 PM PDT I have a brand new computer with Windows 10 Home preinstalled. I'm about to format the drive and install a different operating system. Can I save the windows key without activating Windows, in case I need it in the future? [link] [comments]
1903 Windows 10 update stuck at 0% Posted: 01 Nov 2019 03:11 AM PDT I've had outdated windows 10 updates for a while now and I decided to update since I couldn't do some things if I had an outdated update. I started to download the update and first it got stuck at 73% when I was downloading it. But when I tried again it worked fine. So now it's actually installing the update and it's just stuck at 0% and it says "Working on updates 0% Don't turn off the computer. This takes a while" And it's been stuck on 0% for about an hour or two I'd guess. [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 Nov 2019 02:36 PM PDT So, I had my desktop in storage for a while due to reasons. I took it out and turned it on an it's giving me that message. It's windows 10, RAID-10, I don't have the install disks anymore... is there a way to recover the OS without losing all my stuff or do I need to reinstall from scratch? [link] [comments]
Okay, Thanks Explorer "Search"... Now That You've Helped Me Find The File I Wanted... GO AWAY Posted: 01 Nov 2019 08:48 AM PDT How does one just go to and explore the directory the found file is in and not be in this mode: "search-ms:displayname=Search%20Results%..." I just want to go to where the file is and be there; that directory; exploring as before; using the keyboard as before and all along... Does anyone understand me? And does anyone know how to -- using the keyboard -- just have Explorer be Explorer again without having to grab the MFing mouse, right-click, and chose "Open folder location"? (or yes having to shift-F10 and do the same)? [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 Nov 2019 06:11 PM PDT Why does windows 7 outperform windows 10? For example *-------- If I pull out the SSD containing w10 and put the same model SSD with w7 on it, they seem to run the same, except when playing a game, I've gotten between 10-100 fps better on the same game running on 7 vs on 10 (at the same settings... Resolution etc.) I've tried this with several computers and achieve about the same results. Yet, if you ask anyone they will tell you windows 10 is the OS for gaming these days. Why is 10 such a dog??? [link] [comments]

Windows 10 - Multiprocessor configuration not supported Posted: 01 Nov 2019 01:57 PM PDT Hello, i have an iso with windows 10 which i write with rufus on a usb stick.. i reboot from usb and when loading (i see the windows 10 logo) a bsod comes with the message "MULTIPROCESSOR CONFIGURATION NOT SUPPORTED" you must reboot. The iso is both 32,64 bit.. any idea why i cant format and fresh install windows 10? The Pc is an i5 3570 @3.40GhZ , 16gb ram and a gigabyte motherboard. Ps when i run the setup inside the windows it tells me "use the other installation disc that says 64bit." But when i run the setup inside the "sources" folder i can install windows but without format of course.. [link] [comments]
Why are there some things that can't be done even when you select "Run as Administrator"? Posted: 01 Nov 2019 05:32 AM PDT This is an example. Trying to run "MediaCreationTool1903.exe /Eula Accept /Retail /MediaArch x64 /MediaEdition Enterprise" inside a "Run as Administrator" command prompt window still won't work. I had to actually enable the computer's default Administrator account, log into that, then run the command (as the instructions say) for it to work. Anyone know why this happens? This isn't the only such example where you are powerless to run something even if you tell Windows "I'm running this as an administrator". [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Nov 2019 11:48 AM PDT Hey! I have the following problem: Since today (I am moving so the PC was im a box for a day) my PCs not booting right, when it would sign in my account there's only my desktop background and nothing more. I can't press any buttons, only Ctrl + Alt + Del will lead to a black screen. Safe mode works just fine. What could be the problem? I'll provide any information neccesary, but I'm by no means an expert lol. [link] [comments]
Windows 10 update 1903 repeatedly fails to install with Error 0x800703ee Posted: 01 Nov 2019 11:47 AM PDT This is happening literally since 1903 was available as an update. Something is messed up with my installation and update1903 fails to install (stuck at 37% and returns with that super helpful error message). I'm desperately trying to find a hint of what the fuck went wrong and the update has failed but I can't. On the web the info that I got is that files are corrupt. I've tried deleting the SoftwareDistribution folder a lot of times so I really doubt that is a corrupt download of the update. Something has been messed up with my system and I have no idea what it is. As a workaround I also read that I can try to install the update using the Windows Update Assistant which gets stuck at also comes with a different error message stating that "We can't tell if your PC has enough space to continue installing Windows 10. Try restarting setup", while on the previous step there was a tick in CPU,RAM and Disk checkboxes. I'm running dual boot with Debian linux. Its happened in the past that the size of the efi partition was not enough for a windows update but how can I be sure that this is again the case. I'm also not sure if I need to have more free space on my SSD currently its on 15 GB of free space but I feel like if this was the case I would get a more clear error message. I've also symlinked the windows temp folder to a different drive but again I have no idea if this is a problem as well. Also iirc I had tried at some point a driver updater software (driver booster or something) which again i cannot be sure if it messed something up. Other than that except from some rare freezes I'm not experiencing any serious problems with the OS, so its not like something is obviously wrong or devices are not working etc... I think my best and faster option is to completely reinstall windows 10 to the latest version. Honestly, trying to blindly revert and uninstall things trying to find what is wrong will literally take triple the time. So if there is any way any hidden update log, any other system info that I can trace and check where exactly the update failed that would be very helpful. Thanks in advance, any opinion is more than welcome [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 Nov 2019 09:30 AM PDT Does anybody know how/where to purchase the continue support for windows 7? I can't seem to to find an official link. Is this just unavailable to end day on January 14th, 2020? [link] [comments] |
