Phone won't give out so damn it I'll just spoil myself and keep it as a backup. Question is, despite tremendous value already, is it best to wait until Black Friday or around Holiday season for better bargain? Or just get now? P.S. New OnePlus owner curious about rooting Posted: 01 Nov 2019 03:23 PM PDT Just got the OnePlus 7t yesterday, so far I love it. I've been on Android for two years now, and have owned a Pixel. The camera on the 7T is solid, but if I could get gcam software from the Pixel 4, that would be awesome. Anyhow, rooting. I know nothing about rooting. All I know is OnePlus is fairly unique for not voiding warranties for rooted devices. Does anyone have experience rooting recent OnePlus devices? Or know a good resource to learn? I have to reboot to fix the issue temporarily. I've had the phone for about 3 months, but it's only been like this for a week or two. It seems to be associated with Snapchat or Google Maps. After updating it now says that my device is no longer supported where it used to say something about my carrier. Granted I was having some issues of it just defaulting back to SMS anyway. Issues after updating to Android 10 on OnePlus 7Pro Posted: 01 Nov 2019 04:44 PM PDT I just updated to android 10 via Oxygen updater and it's been a smooth ride for the most part except for a couple of issues. The google play store is broken. It works when I launch it until I try to download/update an app. At that point it just crashes and won't launch up again until I reset the cache and data. OP 7t bluetooth disconnects after a period of inactivity. Posted: 01 Nov 2019 10:55 AM PDT Bluetooth works perfectly as long as it is in continuous use. I use single ear bluetooth earphones to listen to audiobooks. If there is a prolonged period of time where no media is being played the OnePlus 7t automatically disconnects the earphone. I used these earphones with my previous Samsung Galaxy S7 and never had this issue so I know it's not the earphones. I just bought another brand, new pair of earphones and the same thing happens. EDIT: I just did a chat with support and they say this behavior is by design. I really like this phone and want to keep it, but this behavior is putting me more on edge instead of doing the opposite so I will have to return it. [link] [comments] |

I've tried many apks, have their recommend XML files on internal storage/GCam/Configs, also tried "Configs7" for version 7 apks. When I double the space next to the shutter, nothing happens. Don't send your phone in for repair (USA) Posted: 01 Nov 2019 12:49 PM PDT so let's go back to october 13th which was the day i requested the repair on oneplus website. so just a little background, this isn't my first repair with oneplus. in fact the sole reason i decided to send them the phone again was because of my previous experience. even though i had some problem with the previous service center on my first repair (acer), in which they were giving me a wrong shipping label so i had to actually pay for the shipment myself. but once they got the phone, they (acer) quoted me the same day the phone was received, i paid for it later that night and then they sent it next they with the screen replaced. at that time the cost for the replacement was a total of 110$ with some change. phone got back to me in a few days and i had no problem. fast forward a little bit more than a year (this october) my screen got cracked again so i decided to send the phone to them. worst decision of my life. previous to date below i had already contacted oneplus from the day the service center received my phone. october 15th. it had been already 6 days since the phone was delivered and i had yet to receive any updates at all. i called support, i talked to supervisor paul on friday who said he would get back at me on monday 21st. on monday 21st still no reply, called them and that's where i met "louis"(another supervisor) whom assured me he will get in contact with them again and told me i should wait 48-72hr for response(3 extra days). i also told louis i had found some threads on online forums that showed that this service center was horrible and i was not the only one with bad experiences. he told me to send him the links, he said he would send me an email, which he did, and i sent him the links. october 23 10:10am est: i call customer support for the 9th time to see if i can get any update. i get agent "christal" whom i kindly explain that i already been in communication with supervisors paul and louis previously, and wanted to speak to them directly to continue the conversation. she goes ahead and places me on hold. after 5 minutes she comes back on the line tells me that "louis" is taking other calls. (classic call center technique). i told her i would wait in line for him, no worries. she says ok, places me on hold again. she goes back on the line after 10 mins and tells me that louis will be calling me back in about 2 hours. i know for a fact he isn't going to call me but i just want this to happen so it's all documented in the call recordings and everything so if they escalate this and investigate this they have enough evidence to fire the incompetent on the company. october 23 1:24pm est: like i predicted before, no call has been received so i proceed to make the call again to customer support. i am sure they will come up with some bull$#it excuse that louis is no longer available for the day, and to call tomorrow or some $#it like that but i'll make sure that i talk to any supervisor available, hell maybe fu#$ing paul is available. agent gee was assigned to my call… gee seemed more competent than other agents so i went ahead and gave him the benefit of the doubt and explained the situation to him. i was wrong, after explaining everything the first thing he asked if i already sent the device to the service center. what the f*#@. i proceeded to ask if louis was available, he was not, he said he was "assisting other calls". same s#it, again and again. i told him they were supposed to get in contact with the service center and get back at me yesterday or today and still have yet to receive a response. he said he would place me in hold to check some information in the "background" or whatever that means. 7 minutes after he comes back tells me that hey have not received a response from the service center yet. i told gee that i want to speak to louis directly regarding the call i was supposed to receive from him. he said he was not available again, i said yes you already told me he is assisting other calls, tell him i would gladly wait in line until he is available. i have my charger ready. he said okay, thank you. i said "okay, thank you gee…". he placed me on hold. lets see what happens now…i don't think louis wants to talk to me. after 12 minutes on hold, supervisor erica took over the call. apparently the service center responded and they said they already had made the quotation and sent it to me. i told her that i haven't received anything yet. she told me to refresh my email. refreshed my email nothing was there, not in the junk/spam/inbox folder. she told me she would write them regarding this issue so they can send it again. i already saw this problem earlier while doing research about the service centre where they were sending each other the email instead of sending it to the correct person. i made sure she wrote down my email so she would send it to them. i asked her when should i expect a reply, she said she could not give me time. she said she would write me an email though at the end of her shift letting me know if they have responded or not. now i knew it was all bull$#it. i estimate a whole other week before they actually send me anything. october 23 4:45pm est: "louis" sends me an email which goes as follows hello,
i escalated your case, i received an update from our service center and the diagnostic with the phone hasn't been done that's why the quotation is not yet sent. i've asked them to prioritize this as soon as possible.
i'll reach you back once, i have an update. in line with the links, i've sent it to our management.

louis lmao yep, i knew it louis don't worry buddy. october 24 11:54am est: called again, agent daisy responded. straight forward asked her to talk to "louis" or "erica". she told me that erica was not available at the time but insisted on asking what the problem was. told her about the contradiction situation and how i've yet to receive any updates/quotation. she placed me on hold to check on this for me. here we go again… lets see what the new story for the day. daisy came back in the line, apparently she talked to louis and he advised that he already sent me an email but i asked her why then erica told me otherwise. she tells me that the reality is that here is no quotation ready and they are working on it as a "priority". didn't laugh in her face out of respect but jesus christ this customer support is horrible. told her how i could report erica lying to me, since i didn't want her doing that to any other clients. she stuttered for 10 seconds then told me she would check on it and place me on hold. now at this point you should know that i am calling just for the sake of giving a follow up and also to fu@#$ with them. i know that at this point there is nothing they will respond to me but hey, if they are fu#()ing with me, then i can do it too. october 24 1:22pm: i finally got the quotation. you can't imagine how happy/surprised i was to see that email but little did i know. when i opened the link for the repair they were quoting me for 335$ which is insane. ive seen them quoting the same thing for the oneplus 7 pro wtf? i will never pay that for a repair, might as well get the new 7t. they are saying that my board is faulty which is not. phone was clearly working, i could even see the screen partially, calls incoming, sound, etc. just a cracked screen and i only wanted a screen repaired. at this point i don't know if i want to click cancel payment to get the phone back. if i should even bother to try and call them again to get this sorted out. ill think it over. october 24: 2:31pm: called support. agent priz answered. explained situation to him, he said he would place me on hold and check. after 2-3 minutes on hold he comes back and says the most apple-est thing to say in the world, "this service center only does full repair, unfortunately". what in the actual f#$%. it didn't make any sense (only for apple) to replace all the parts if some of them are working. doesn't make any sense at all. told all of this to priz and asked him to talk to a supervisor. after 5-6 minutes i got supervisor "raymond" or something like that. explained full situation to him (paul, louis and erica weren't enough). he said he would personally email the service center to see if they could do a partial repair. he would get back at me in 24-48hrs. i estimate 3 more days before they actually make any contact, if any whatsoever. oh, and the email with the payment link says i have 5 days to respond or they'll send the phone back without repair. life is good. never settle. october 29th 3:30pm: i have been calling every day since the 24th just to keep tradition but all they have answered be after going back and forth with them every time is "we don't have an answer yet. today i decided to call again, agent jane attended me. like always give my full info, explained that i talked to supervisor previously and that they had contact the service center for me to get the partial repair done. she said she would check on this for me, to wait on a "brief" hold of 2 minutes. its been 15 minutes. what the f@#$? are they trolling me? after a total of 18 minutes on hold she came back and told me. i used all my resources to check this for you, we still haven't received a response yet but rest assured your case is a high priority (well look at that script) and will be updated within 24 hours. what there else is to lose? i've already wasted 2 weeks of my life, 1 more weeks isn't anything. for what its worth at least i am documenting everything in details so none of you have to go through this. october 31th 11:22am est: still no answer. decided to call again. agent "dany" attended me. explained situation briefly but told her i want to talk to supervisor directly. she insisted in checking this for me, told her she could check it if she want but like i stated previously (3 times now), i wanted to talk to a supervisor directly. she placed me on hold. christine (supervisor) got on the line. she now told me that supposedly on october 28th they received a response saying that they declined the request for repair. i asked her if this is true then why didn't anyone tell me this neither monday or october 29th when i spoke to agent jane. she said she couldn't tell me how other agents attended my call but that she assured me that was what she could see on my case notes and that what they did was just re-escalate the issue. the then kept saying i apologize but usually fih doesn't do any partial repairs. she also told me this was the first case like this she saw and that they are what they can to help me. it seems hard to believe since you guys keep lying to me but ok. i told her that i wasn't going to waste any more time, i would just get it to a local repair shop instead if they actually never do any partial repairs. she said that all she could do for me is reach out to them again to re-escalate it, but told her i just wanted the phone back. even though i just told her i want the phone back as is, i estimate 1-2 weeks before i receive my phone. maybe more, lets see. i decided to post this thread because i saw a bunch of other people having some issues/problems with service center and i felt the need to post this. i was going to wait till i had my phone back but since this can mean that there is a possibility that someone like me is researching forums/threads before sending in their phone, i want this thread and the others to be available for everyone for reference. do not, i repeat do not waste your time sending your phones to them. right now this company is at it's worst at any type of customer service, including the repair team. i don't know how this company (fih) got this contract with oneplus… i guess that the cost of us having flagship phones is a cut-down on customer service, and it shouldn't be like that. oneplus needs to address this or they should feel ($$$$) the consequences. once again i encourage you not to waste your time with their repairs. you have been warned. Factory Reset OP7 Pro w/o Losing Root Posted: 01 Nov 2019 09:54 AM PDT Long story short, I need to factory reset my phone to try to fix an issue with the Outlook app. Is there an easy way to do it without losing root? I assume it won't touch the recovery so worst case I can just reflash Magisk, but with the hassle of having to downgrade the OS with MSM, re-root, and then upgrade again. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
