Posted: 03 Nov 2019 09:36 AM PST I'm looking at two laptops that are ostensibly very similar: the MSI GE75 Raider-287, and the ROG Strix Hero III. Specs for both: 17.3", thin bezel, 1080p, RTX 2060 GPU, i7-9750H, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD. The price difference is only $15 (MSI is cheaper). Which would you guys recommend? Can provide links to both. Posted: 03 Nov 2019 12:53 PM PST Hey everyone, I'm planning to probably pick up a lenovo mid-premium laptop in the near future, but I'm not sure if I'm missing something or not. My two choices are - IdeaPad S740 15" - $1,363.50 - Yoga C940 15" - $1,939.99 They both have all of the following - i7 9750H - 4K IPS, HDR, 400-500nit - GTX 1650 - 16gb DDR4 2666mhz - Dolby Atmos integrated speakers - Touch Screen So....why would I get the C940 over the S740? Or is there something I'm missing? [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Nov 2019 12:19 PM PST Hello, So I was overclocking my laptop screen. My base is 60Hz. I was going gradually. From 60Hz to 65Hz, and then 67Hz. At 67Hz it started doing weird things so I set it back to 65Hz, after which I restarted my laptop and finally set to 66Hz. When I opened Geometry Dash I was met with this image https://drive.google.com/file/d/177gJ9Chuu3M3XErE3U8rMLDtnXuPoPy3/view?usp=drivesdk This is exactly what I saw after going to 67Hz and I opened the game when it was at 67Hz. But for some reason it stayed like this after going back down to 66Hx and even 60Hz. I've already uninstalled the game 2 times. Also this only affects this game and only when it's in fullscreen. Anyone knows how to fix this and can give me an explanation on why that is? I'm really curious since I've never seen something like this. [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Nov 2019 11:29 AM PST Hi Guys, Im looking to get a new laptop for college and ive been really drawn to the XPS 13 as it seems to cover all my needs, packing a lot of power into a small package. Im wondering if anyone has any experience of video editing on this laptop? (With Premiere Pro would be a bonus), I think itll hold up fine but just wanted to hear some firsthand experience If you have any suggestions for similar laptops that would suit (<€2000) Id be more than happy to hear them! I need some help on deciding on a new laptop. Posted: 03 Nov 2019 11:16 AM PST I'm a gamer and I'm currently looking at some low budget gaming laptops. The current laptop I have has a busted hard drive and to be honest I don't really want to fix it and really wanna get a new laptop for my needs. I'm currently looking at the Acer aspire 5 and the Acer aspire E15. I've heard a lot about the Acer aspire E15 for a long time now and have seen many videos about it and its specs and how it runs with games and from what I'm seen it's probably one of the best budget gaming laptops from all the online top 10s. But I have been also seeing the Acer aspire 5 and a kind of looks Like they're on par with each other. I don't really wanna make a very hasty purchase I've seen some bad reviews about the Acer aspire E15 on Amazon and some users say that it literally broke after 2 months or broken immediately and I don't know much about the Acer aspire 5. If anyone has these devices and have used them extensively I would really like your opinion. [link] [comments]

Restoring from System Image help Posted: 03 Nov 2019 10:30 AM PST Hey guys! So today I upgraded my laptops 1TB HDD to an 1TB SDD. I know nothing about laptops so In preparation to do this I learned to copy my data over I need to create a system image. So I took an external 2TB HDD and created a system image there. I than swapped out my old HDD with the new SSD. Everything went great luckily! Now I'm just trying to restore my data from this HDD system image that I made onto my new SDD! So I chose to boot through the advanced options and select the "Recover from windows using a specific System Image Recovery". My laptop found the System Image that was stored on my external hard drive but when I went to recover it said that needed to create and boot from a repair disc. Well, my laptop doesn't have a disc drive let alone a burner. What am I to do now? I've already swapped out the hard drives and only have the System Image of the original HDD left, there was no System repair disc made. What am I to do now and what options do I have? Can I not simply copy over the System Image recovery folder from my external hard drive to my new SSD? Any help would be great! [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Nov 2019 10:28 AM PST I'm pulling my hair out with this issue. I recently got an Asus ROG Strix 2, model number GL704GV. As this laptop only has a 512GB SSD, i opted to add a Firecuda 2 TB SSHD for my games library. The SATA cable included with the laptop seems to be backwards. The HDD cage in the laptop only fits 1 way. The SSHD only fits 1 way in to that cage. This routes the flattened SATA cable over the top of the SSHD, then a hard angle down to the motherboard, then another hard angle to the SSHD connector. According to every video i've seen with this model, the cable is supposed to route UNDER the SSHD when installed, with no hard angles at all. The ONLY way the cable, cage, and sshd fit together is how I described it, I've tried every other configuration and it doesn't work. If I put the sshd in the way it shows in the videos, the cable faces the other direction. Also, the cage that came in the laptop installs so the cage is between the sshd and the motherboard, but the videos show the cage is supposed to be above the sshd. Does anyone know if I have the wrong cage/cable/etc ? [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Nov 2019 10:23 AM PST Are there good sites to find general information about laptop/mobile computing history, other than aimlessly googling? I want to know what the heaviest laptop is, when did discrete GPUs start being implemented, are there any liquid cooled laptops, stuff like that. Is there a good sub for this? Or any good sites to peruse? [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Nov 2019 01:51 AM PDT This is the laptop I found. for the specs, I think that this laptop is pretty cheap. I must have an I7 and most other I7's are 800+ but this one is 566.29 euros. Could someone tell my why this one is so cheap? Should I buy this one? Thank you [link] [comments] |
