Posted: 29 Oct 2019 01:49 PM PDT Hello, my girlfriend bought the named laptop in February this year and I have a feeling that the screen is broken because the colours are horrible the viewing angles are terrible and the screen is way to bright (contrast is bad) Should the screen be this bad ? I have a MacBook retina so I am a bit spoiled I would guess but I feel like this is still to bad to be true. Would like to hear from someone who got the laptop or knows it, if it should be this bad. Selecting Memory for an HP ZBook 17 G5 Posted: 29 Oct 2019 12:39 PM PDT I'm looking at getting one of:
but haven't quite settled on which one to buy yet. Would the negligible advantage in latency offered by the Corsair Vengeance memory be worth paying the extra eleven dollars, or should I save my money and just purchase the Crucial SODIMMs? [link] [comments]

ASUS ZenBook 13 good for gaming? Posted: 29 Oct 2019 12:26 PM PDT I'm trying to find a good laptop around $900, I found the Asus Zenbook 13 on Amazon and it looks about what I want but I was wondering if it's good at some low-medium gaming. Games I'd be playing are small and maybe some triple A like cod or battlefield at lower setting and around 60 FPS. Could this laptop handle that? [link] [comments]
HP Laptop power jack doesn't appear to be working Posted: 29 Oct 2019 12:02 PM PDT I have a 7 year old HP Pavilion dv7t laptop that out of the blue stopped charging. The charging LED is inconsistently flashing white while plugged in with occassionaly flashing orange for a split second before the white. It's unable to turn on solely with the charger. I've replaced the DC power jack and its cable before in the past when it completely fried and the LED light wouldn't come on at all. There's no signs of damage this time like there was at that time with the connector that plugs into the MB being melted at one pin hole. The AC charger still outputs 19.9V at the barrel connector. The connection at the motherboard has the 8 wires come out the back and solder in, so I tested the voltage across the top outer pins, which I understand to be the power ones. That is fluctuating between 11V and 19V. I would think that should be consistent, leading me to think it's simply the DC power jack that needs replacing again, and I am ordering one to try that. But the weird behavior of the charging LED has me worried it could be a motherboard issue. Should I just start shopping for a new laptop now? [link] [comments]

Looking for a Windows laptop for image editing/light gaming, budget ~£800 Posted: 29 Oct 2019 07:22 AM PDT Would like something fast as I edit a lot of large image files for work, plus will be doing some light gaming (e.g. Civ V). I'd like something reasonably compact and portable, with good build quality and screen. Ideally something with a similar build quality/form factor to a Macbook I guess. Having not bought a laptop in some time I don't really know what the options are. Budget is £600-800 [link] [comments]

*NEED ADVISE* Photography student and need advise on choice of laptop Posted: 29 Oct 2019 10:46 AM PDT Hello, my girlfriend has been studying photography at college and is very keen on the subject and is at a point where she wants to progress and pursue it further. She has been recommended to buy a macbook but is anyone able to link me to some of the best both spec and price wise. 'Normal' ASUS Laptop or a Microsoft Surface Pro 5 with Keyboard attachment? Posted: 29 Oct 2019 10:34 AM PDT Hi all, looking at getting a new laptop for college but I'm stuck between 2 different ones. The Asus VivoBook X512DA with Ryzen 5-3500U, 8GB of RAM and 256Gb SSD or the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 with i5, 8GB RAM and 128GB SSD. I can't find many reviews on the Asus one online and in the few I've seen there's been some saying it has only 6GB of RAM because 2 is shared with the GPU? and that the display isn't amazing. Then I'm considering the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 for the 2 in 1 experience so I can detach the screen and watch it bed etc and also have a better battery life but not as much storage. Anyone got any recommendations? Thanks. [link] [comments]

Finding a laptop for an Architecture student Posted: 29 Oct 2019 04:30 AM PDT My sister is need of a laptop due to the fact that her travel to college takes like 2hrs and not being confined to my PC when doing stuff. She uses CAD and SketchUp with some photoshop. As far as specifications go I cant find a suitable laptop below $700-$800 that meets the requierments which I can afford but I really wouldnt want to spend as much. Is there a cheaper laptop that would fit the need that I dont know of? Is there a good upgradeable laptop that I can save a few bucks off? Cheers for assistance. [link] [comments]
windows closing all apps upon sleep Posted: 29 Oct 2019 08:12 AM PDT This problem started happening to me the other day, and ive scoured the internet for a solution but nothing has worked. I think the cause is either one of two things I did to my laptop 2 days ago:
my specs are here: System Model XPS 15 9570 Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8750H CPU @ 2.20GHz, 2208 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 12 Logical Processor(s) BIOS Version/Date Dell Inc. 1.12.0, 6/27/2019 (RAM) 16.0 GB OS Name Microsoft Windows 10 Home [link] [comments]
13" Models Now Have Stronger CPU? Why Are There No 15" Ice Lake 2 in 1s? Posted: 29 Oct 2019 03:52 AM PDT Why doing some research on my next laptop purchase I've noticed the trend across manufacturers is that they have brought Ice Lake to there 13.3"-14" 2 in 1s, ( Dell XPS 13 Model 7390, HP Spectre x360 13, Lenovo Yoga C940 ), but their 15" 2 in 1s from the same model line all seem to have weaker CPUs. I haven't paid much attention in the last few years but what the hell is going on? Used to be bigger laptops got more powerful hardware all the way up to large 17" desktop replacement laptops used desktop CPUs. [link] [comments] |
