Google Camera is no longer a thing? How do people make Photo Spheres? Android Apps

Google Camera is no longer a thing? How do people make Photo Spheres?

    Posted: 16 Aug 2018 08:00 AM PDT

I have the Google Camera app installed on my Sony Z5c and have used it for years. I just discovered that Google Camera was updated and no longer supports my device and crashes on start.

My Google-fu is weak and I haven't been able to figure out how people are creating photo spheres with their Android devices.

    Any advice?

Looking for an app to quickly disable/enable apps.

    Posted: 16 Aug 2018 01:21 AM PDT

I'm looking for a way to do this quickly, like a shortcut icon or widget so I can only unblock problematic apps when I need to use them (apps like peel smart remote). Currently I have to go through too many nested menus in the settings to do this and would like a more streamlined way of achieving this goal. I'm not jail broken, on Android 7 with an HTC one m9.

Thanks anyone who may have insight into this. Everything I've found seems to revolve around scheduled times for enable/disable, but I want it to be just a manual, quickly accessed switch.

[AMA] I'm the mkt manager of ES File Explorer, AKA "The Fallen King"... We need to hear your voice (questions/roast/suggestions all welcomed)

    Posted: 15 Aug 2018 07:23 PM PDT

    Redditors,

I'm Travis from China, currently working as the marketing manager of ES File Explorer, a famous Android file manager app that used to swept the entire market but has been hated for years for its ads and pop ups.

Believe it or not, ES has been on the market for about a decade and we've been through both highs & lows. One thing is that we've never really take good care of the ES brand in the past. Now, despite our huge user base (still No.1 in the category), we're refocusing on user experience and trying to improve our product to better serve global users. One major reason to do so, is because of the team reformation. As you may know, ES started as a small group of developers 9 years ago and then got acquired by Baidu, the Chinese search Engine tycoon few years later. Now, the global business unit of Baidu has spin off to form a new company, and ES File Explorer is under DO Global, the new company, instead of Baidu.

With the new journey of ES, we've had new development team, new marketing team, new business team, and so many on. We're dedicated to bring a new vibe to ES and also to users worldwide. Therefore, we're here to invite you (sincerely) to express all your thoughts, no matter positive or negative, to us. Like I said in the title, questions, suggestions, even simply roasts are all welcomed here (please don't use curse words as I'm afraid the moderator will close the thread..). We're well aware of the fact the ES' brand image (if there's any) are at danger and people (especially in the states) spokes ill of it. We want to know your thoughts, and we want to make the product better.

Few things to start with, there's truly less ads & pop ups in the app. And as I recall, some people's complaining about ES will push ad content to your lock screen - trust me, no more (we've cancelled that, and also Google Play won't allow that either :-P). Admittedly, to maintain the revenue there's still some ads for sure. But aside from the Pro version, we've now offering a "Remove Ads" in-app feature right above the ads, you can pay $0.99 to remove ALL ads for the first 3 months, then the monthly charges of this service will only cost you $0.99 per month. Feel free to roast this feature too. Again, good or bad, we just want to know your true feelings.

Another things is that, as a marketing manager, I'm not confident enough to say that I'm a tech savvy person (though ES is indeed a must have for me, I use a OnePlus 6 BTW~), so I might not know all the answers to all the tech/feature related questions. But our whole team is ready so I'll get our head of development team to help answer certain questions~ Have fun roasting here!

Edit: As per moderator's suggestions, I'm attaching the screenshot of ES team's Google Play Console here:

    https://imgur.com/a/RBfdwE9

It's in Chinese and I blurred certain numbers to avoid potential risks.

Play Store won't download Apps because of APKPure??

    Posted: 16 Aug 2018 01:23 AM PDT

i usually download game updates from APKPure since some of it are region blocked, but the problem is several apps in my phone can't be found on APKPure so i have to download it from Play Store. at first everything seems to be working just fine, but then i realize that now Play Store won't even download anything at all (stuck in the downloading bar but no progress). I tried to factory reset the phone and the Play Store works fine but then suddenly returned to its current state. i wonder what is wrong?

    Choosing a Mobile Web Browser?

    Posted: 16 Aug 2018 08:17 AM PDT

Every once and a while I like to re-evaluate the apps on using on my phone and this week I decided to take a look at my mobile web browser. However, if you have ever gone to the Play Store you quickly realize the vast number of options is overwhelming. I'm just starting to learn how to use Reddit and I thought this might be a great first post.

I'm on a Samsung Note 8 and my wife is on an iPhone (I may post a similar post for her in the iPhone subreddit). I am currently using Chrome and Google Now, but I'm wondering if there is something better I should be considering.

Does anyone use a third-party mobile web browser? Which ones do you like and why?

App to Sync music playlists with phone

    Posted: 16 Aug 2018 06:06 AM PDT

What app do you guys use to upload mp3s from your PC onto your phone's hard drive? I have been using doubletwist, and the nice feature about this app is that when you remove a song from the play list that is being sync'd, the next time you sync your phone, that removed song will also be automatically deleted from your phone. Unfortunately this seems to be hit or miss and can removing them after awhile.

Is there an alternative that does this as well? I have looked into the desktop app called MobileTrans, which has high reviews on Cnet, but I am not sure if it will automatically delete the songs that are removed from the playlist, or if you have to manually delete them on your phone every time.

    Z launcher alternatives

    Posted: 16 Aug 2018 09:29 AM PDT

Tldr: I'm looking for an app, widget, or launcher that also has the feature of drawing a letter on the home screen and having it search for apps based on the letter.

I saw someone posted something similar about a year ago, regarding alternatives for the z launcher, but their main reasons for enjoying z launcher are not the same as mine.

I like z launcher for the ability to draw a letter on the home screen and have it quickly and reliably search for apps by the first letter you draw. No need for folders, multiple app pages or anything.

However, it's been a long time since it's been updated, and it looks like Nokia has abandoned it. I'm wondering if there are any apps, widgets, or even another launcher that has this draw app search feature. I have Googled it many times but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for, or maybe I'm just not using the right words. Either way, any help would be appreciated.

Alarm clock app that you can set similar to how you set a countdown timer.

    Posted: 16 Aug 2018 09:09 AM PDT

Like for example, I want it to wake me up 7 hours after I set it up. I know you can compute for yourself but the countdown thing seems to be more convenient.

Work chat bot for amount withdrawals.

    Posted: 16 Aug 2018 08:44 AM PDT

Hello everyone, having trouble finding an app that would allow my work chat to ask or input a dollar amount and the program/ bot would let the chat know how much of a pre set amount is left. For example I work at a telecommunications company and we have a discretionary amount of $100 a month we can take from for taking amount off of accessories for that month, thing is we have to ask the manager every single time we need an amount and it would be more of a convenience to have a program/ bot that can auto deducte from that amount for the chat. We use WhatsApp for work so a build in program for that would help but not apposed to another app.

    Video playback with Saturation??

I tried searching and found two, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.rehue.rehueplayer and https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pathwin.cnxplayer

and both are not good to use. Well the latter one is ok but still if you are gonna use subtitles on a video, its very bad. Any other apps out there which has this feature?
