Computer no longer overclocking after upgrading to windows 10.

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 06:45 PM PDT

I have a 4790k and noticed I have lost my +500MHz overclock on all cores after upgrading to Windows10. The CPU doesn't even seem to hit stock speeds when fully loaded.

Overclocking is done under the BIOS, so I don't think the OS running on top would matter. But I loaded back Windows 7 and my 4790K would hit 4.9GHz with no problem. Under Windows 10, I read 4.38GHz max.

Is Windows 10 throttling my CPU or misreading its frequency?

It wasn't there before. Should I be worried? I know the latest update kept failing, so maybe it's related?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 03:19 PM PDT

I noticed that there is not one App in Office 365 that is designed for video editing, at least what I know of

Is there one that I don't know of? Because I want one and I'm wondering if it's in the Office 365 pack

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 02:29 PM PDT

    So yeah..

Friend thinks he is hacked and wanted to do a clean install of windows 10.

He forgot to create a recovery drive and now his pc when booting up does not recognize an operating system.

Could he create one from his laptop to fix this or what are his options?

    Thanks in advance.

Windows defender scan caused CPU to heat up like crazy

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 12:47 PM PDT

When I tried to run a Full Scan today, CPU temperature, specifically Core 1 reached 93C. The remaining three cores remained between 75-85C. This doesn't happen unless I run a full scan. Is there any way to fix this heating issue?

Note (if needed): Intel i5 9th Gen, 8gb RAM. Also a pretty new laptop.

App to use Apple magic keyboard (bluetooth) with Windows 10?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 12:16 PM PDT

Are there any FREE apps that allows me to use the apple bluetooth keyboards on Windows 10. The app needs to bind the keyboards key so that they work with windows (like binding the CMD key to WIN key etc) .

I also need to get the shortcut keys at top of the keyboard to work with windows =)

    Any free app does this?

    Help with sticky keys problem

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 10:52 AM PDT

Hey there, hoping that someone can help. I'm not even sure if this is a software or hardware problem.

    Background:

I have a Lenovo P52s with Windows 10. Occasionally when I press either shift key (and only either shift key), it will activate the Sticky Key feature. In addition, the only way to turn it off is to sign out and sign in again (trying to turn it off by pressing two keys together doesn't work). The problem is intermittent, but happens at least 2 to 3 times a day. Sometimes I can type for an hour without a problem, and sometimes the shift keys will activate Sticky Keys several times in a row.

    What I've tried:

Turning Sticky Keys on or off normally (doesn't work).

Lenovo tech support was unhelpful, even after running some of their own diagnostics, updates, etc etc (didn't work).

Disabling Sticky Keys, and even uninstalling the file for them (didn't work).

Using a USB keyboard; there doesn't seem to be a problem using a USB keyboard (works). But obviously toting around a USB keyboard with a laptop is annoying.

    What I haven't tried:

I haven't tried replacing the keyboard, or any other hardware fixes.

    I haven't tried a clean Windows 10 install.

Thanks in advance for any insight, I'm kind of a Windows newbie after using Macs for the last 10 years.

There is no longer a "keep both" option when moving files?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 06:25 AM PDT

When I try to move a file with the same name as another file into a folder, I only have two options: Replace the item that already exists in the folder or cancel the operation.

I distinctly recall in past versions of Windows, I was able to say "keep both" and have one of the files be renamed to something like [original file name](1). Did I do something to remove this from my current install of Windows 10 or is there any way I can restore this functionality?

Files getting deleted on Mouse Left Click

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 06:03 AM PDT

Hi guys, recently i plugged in my friend's corrupt sd card for formatting in my windows 8.1 laptop. The system was unable to detect it in several attempts, after some time the system detected it. I didn't even open even it, and scanned it using Avast Antivirus. The antivirus couldn't find any virus, and in few minutes the sd card again got disconnected.

Since then my system is having weird problem, may be virus. On mouse left click, the files are getting in recycle bin. Shift + delete is also lagging and unable to delete it immediately.

Tried Malwarebytes to scan but didn't help. Formatted the c drive, the problem still persists.

    Operating System - Windows 8.1

Please help me with this, i am thinking of hard formatting the complete HDD if couldn't get any solution.

This pops up whenever I start my Windows 8.1 computer. When I try to uninstall "DriverPack Notifier" on the Control Panel it just pops up again and I'm not sure that means it's getting uninstalled.

Slow and unusable programs after migrating from windows 7 to windows 10.

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 04:34 AM PDT

We have upgraded 3 desktop PCs to win 10 from windows 7 and we're having problems with the performance of the PCs, all of them are with 4 gb RAM and i3-4160 CPUs. Updates were installed as well and all the drivers are up to date. The three of them are not working properly with exactly the same issues.

The trouble is when trying to work with the accounting software, when I open task manager there are no critical stats when I watch the performance tab, and the PC is having no issues with RAM, DISK or CPU load, I could not find anything in the event logger, there is only a process which show and its windows interruption, then the software goes to (Not responding) freezes and you have to wait around 5 minutes to get it working again(It works but it's laggy as hell which is not acceptable). We've connected with the support that the software has, they told us our connection with the shared folder(ntfs share) is bad and our bandwidth is too low.

So far I've tried booting in safe mode, fixing the registers with several programs, running "/scannow", rebuilding indexes [as our problem was noticed when trying to search in the accounting software and also in Outlook(which is also buggy as hell)] and now I'm trying Wireshark, but so far I got no clue whats the cause of the problem, as I'm not experienced with networking and AD stuff.

Any tips or advice for finding a clue or troubleshooting would be strongly appreciated! Thank you!

    Wi-Fi not showing up

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 03:26 AM PDT

I was sitting in my room when the Wi-Fi went out, I'm with Telstra (Australia) so I this happens often. However, unlike all the other times it never turned back on automatically. So I went to check it and my Wi-Fi didn't show up on the list, I checked every other device and they were all connected to the Wi-Fi. Not to mention that it was showing all other networks around my street. I restarted my PC and the router, that didn't work, I did a system reset, that didn't work either. It doesn't even register as a previous network I've joined, it's like it just disappeared from my PC. Not sure if this will help but I am on windows 10 and I have these parts. au.pcpartpicker.com/list/DfG6tp And I am using a wireless adaptor officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/tp-link-300mbps-wireless-n-pci-express-adaptor-tptlwn881 If this helps I was checking my MBPS on speedtest.telstra.com and on speedtest.net Thanks for any help! <3
