| Posted: 01 Jan 2018 12:57 PM PST Since updating my laptop a couple of weeks ago my laptop is in pieces. The search bar functionality does not work - including in in-built windows apps such as Netflix. Task Manager will not open and virtually any program files will not run - including many of the in-built windows help features such as Troubleshooter. Failure to open these programs results in the error code: 1073741515 Windows reports errors in the drive need to be fixed but any repair/diagnostic tool has also been affected. I can't run cmd or powershell as administrator because of the error code above : which means I can't run scannow or chkdsk. When I accessed the command window from startup I could use both commands (with chkdsk /f) but the system replied and said that it was unable to perform any repairs - it did respond after typing chkdsk that there were indeed issues with the drive. I've tried resetting/refreshing the system but it failed and was aborted halfway through the reset. After restarting the system, the computer actually does try to scan and repair the computer but it has yet to remedy the above problems. [link] [comments]  | ||
| Disabling adaptive brightness? Posted: 01 Jan 2018 05:30 PM PST I've pretty much done everything this guy has, but I'm using a dell laptop. Inspiron 15 3552, and I have been dealing with this issue for a while now.. For some reason, it only occurs when I'm on battery. It changes brightness automatically when I switch tabs or watch a video. For some reason though, it works fine when I leave it plugged in..The brightness stays the same no matter what. I've tried everything from Intel HD to power plan settings, Flu.x etc. I've even modified the services.msc to disable the sensors but that didn't work, but I couldn't find anything relating to brightness within the task scheduler. I've checked the BiOS and there's nothing there that could help me as well, which makes me think this might be somewhere in my registry. IF someone has an idea, please help me.. I have turned off Fast Start after looking for a way to turn it off, as the computer was saving my session after turning it off and doing a reboot. After turning it off, it seemed to be better, but now after it did a little mini up date, it is doing it again. I looked, and it was still set as off. Is there any way I can get it so that it will actually shut down, when I turn it off, and not put it into a hibernate mode? I NEED to turn off my computer some times due to a few programs not wanting to work well together, and with it doing just a hibernate, it doesn't actually do anything. [link] [comments]  | ||

| Posted: 01 Jan 2018 08:59 AM PST This is extremely annoying as I have to reinstall parts of the game pretty often, I had the problem a few months ago and somehow fixed it (or it just went away, I don't remember what I've done to fix it) and after I finally updated Windows 2 days ago, the problem reoccured. I try to record using software that normally uses F8 and now it does nothing while F9 mutes the game and f10 and f11 lower and increase the volume. How do i fix this? I am on windows 10. Why don't they just get developers to develop live tiles for their win32 applications when PCs are in tablet mode and dismantle the windows store? [link] [comments]  | ||
