Hat's off to the Mi 9t's battery life, and RIP to my new Xiaomi :(

After calculating the price of replacing both the front and back of an ill-fated Samsung device, I opted to upgrade my life with the Mi 9t!

Boy oh freaking BOY is this a great phone! Sleek, gorgeous screen, incredible camera! INSANE operating speeds. I loved it from the minute I started using it until three days later when I knocked it off a table and murdered it.

I went abroad to attend my brother's wedding and was blown away by the phone's performance during the 30 hours of travel and endless photo ops at the reception.

I made it back to the hotel in one piece and was ready to turn in when I knocked my case-free (I KNOW I KNOW THE CASE AND SCREEN PROTECTOR ARRIVED THE DAY I LEFT) phone off the bedside table and a big chunk cracked, exposing the fresh underbelly of the gorgeous, ill-fated screen. For whatever reason, this caused the entire screen to lose function and it's been completely black and unusable ever since...

    except for the alarm.

    Holy f.

I got back from my trip 10 days ago and the alarm is somehow STILL. GOING. OFF. EVERY. MORNING.

I can't seem to hit the right spot on the screen to silence it, and even my attempts to power down the device completely haven't worked.

I tried finding a repair shop while I was still abroad (I live in the US and unfortunately one of the downsides to having a Xiaomi phone means fewer repair options)

I swapped the sim back into my old Samsung device and have been using that while I figure out my next steps. I'm considering buying a replacement screen (seem to go for ~$130) and following ifixit's tutorials, but it's honestly such a good price I'm tempted to just buy a new one off of amazon...

Do yall think it's worth attempting a DIY repair with a certified screen replacement, or do you think a repair kiosk place would let me bring my own parts in since they won't likely have any xiaomi components available?

Looks like Xiaomi finally made the notifications permanently visible in the status bar. There's also options to hide the notch as well.

Aliexpress redmi k20 out of stock?

    Posted: 01 Nov 2019 08:29 PM PDT

i was just wondering why all stores have run out of stock at the same time just recently. And are they going to restock anytime soon? I don't need the extra bands that the mi9t offers so im looking for just the normal k20

    Redmi note 8 pro inquiry

    Posted: 01 Nov 2019 06:36 PM PDT

Hey guys so i was thinking about buying the note 8 pro but upon further search into MTK SoCs they seem to be a bit sketchy , currently I'm a mi a1 user and it's been great and if i upgrade to 8 pro it should last me for a few years. So my question is should i go for it or just invest my money elsewhere and the MtK soc is complete garbage? Also in my country mi 9t and realme xt are priced higher than 8 pro and out of my budget and the mi 9 lit hasn't even been released , i don't care much about rom support but i do care about gcam.

Actual Changes for MIUI 11 Redmi Note 7

    Posted: 01 Nov 2019 03:25 AM PDT

Here is a list of changes i noticed. (11.0.3.0 - PFGMIXM) - MIUI 11 Global Update changelog is not complete for some reason... 1. New Notifications for DND 2. All around redesigned notification & notification bar 3. More Animations. Smoother. 4. Slightly different fonts in some areas 5. Mi doc viewer 6. Nature sounds. 7. Tools and shortcuts. 8. Cast 9. Redesigned apps (less clutter, bigger icons) example: settings. 10. Notifications now always show icons next to the clock on the status bar. (redesigned status bar) 11. Mi share

Missing/negatives: 1. No always on display (no oled) 2. No notification breathing. 3. Feels kind of unpolished, slow at times (for me)

Advice for which app should I debloat since I don't want to debloat all of them?

    Posted: 01 Nov 2019 05:50 PM PDT

I downloaded the debloat tool by Szaky here . There are listed a lot of apps, also GApps, and other useful stuff like the music and video player, the compass, fm etc....

Can you advice me what are the apps that are a "must" to remove? Maybe intrusive or suspicious/malicious, or "resource sucker" ones

Just broke my Mi 9's camera glass, should I buy Mi 9T Pro?

    Posted: 01 Nov 2019 01:40 PM PDT

Hello everyone, I just broke my phones (Xiaomi mi 9) cmaera's glass and I wan't to replace it. I was thinking about buying Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro but I can wait for the next model if it is being released soon. My phone is functioning properly besides me not being able to take pictures.

Would you suggest me to buy Xiaomi Mi 9T now or wait for the next release?

    Thank you

The best feature of MIUI 11

    Posted: 01 Nov 2019 01:27 PM PDT

MIUI hasn't changed a lot from 10 to 11 but apart from the permanent notifications on my RN7, the best feature is setting a dark theme to Instagram while using the dark mode.

My eyes thank Xiaomi for saving them from catching fire.

Floating Window issue after MIUI 11

    Posted: 01 Nov 2019 10:00 AM PDT

    Pocophone F1 user here.

After the update floating window apps like tiwtch, netflix and youtube dont work properly. They all have permissions, PIP allowed, and auto start enabled, cleared cache, everything. When i swipe up, the floating window appears but it's invisible unless i tap on it but still no image, the video keeps playing though. I found that if I lock my screen and unlock it while floating Window is active the image appears and i can use it properly, but that is annoying to do each time.

    Any thoughts?

Mi Home BLE Gateway doesn't find nearby supported Bluetooth devices

    Posted: 01 Nov 2019 06:09 PM PDT

    Hi all,

I have a Xiaomi air quality monitor that can act as a BLE gateway. However, it doesn't look like it is finding the Xiaomi thermometer/hygrometers though.

It was able to find two of my thermometer/hygrometers in the past, but I gave them away.

Just added a few new thermometer/hygrometers to my Mi Home, but the air quality monitor isn't finding them.

    https://imgur.com/a/kEyJlM8

I have already done some basic troubleshooting.

Restarting the devices, re-pairing them, reinstall the Mi Home app. I am out of ideas.

    Anyone having this issue too?

    Thank you in advance!
