Anyone's drag and drop not working? Posted: 02 Nov 2019 06:26 PM PDT This is beyond frustrating I can't do a damn thing without drag and drop. I tried stopping process tree for explorer.exe and then adding it back but it still isn't working. I can drag one window once and then it stops functionality. HELP! To add, this literally started 30 min ago. I'm playing hollow knight and toggle between steam and my browser and the drag stopped working [link] [comments]
Everytime i open a folder Windows ask for admin approval Posted: 02 Nov 2019 05:45 PM PDT The folder isn't part of any of my system files it's actually a folder on my external hard drive, the hard drive was new and had nothing in it. Then there was a disk error or something then i left the hard drive plugged in so Windows "repaired" it as well now everytime i access that folder it asks me for admin approval. Any suggestions on how to remove it for that specific folder? [link] [comments]
Unable to perform Windows Update Posted: 02 Nov 2019 05:12 PM PDT I'm getting error "0x800f0900" when trying to perform an update. I tried quite a few things, and I only have 2 options left: 1) DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth 2) In-place update I'd like to avoid #2. I've been trying to roll with #1, however I am unable to do so. Using that command gives me "The source files could not be found." Unfortunate that MS cannot get their crap straight and avoid common issues like this, but anyway. So I went to retrieve install.wim from 2 versions of Windows 10 (1809 and 1903). Then I run the following command: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:WIM:<path>\install.wim:1 /LimitAccess I get the same error. The source files could not be found. I'm guessing the issue is the following: Version: 10.0.18362.1 Image Version: 10.0.18362.356 Versions do not match. Where do I get the right install.wim version? I'd like to point out that my system is a Win 7 -> Win 10 upgrade, so I don't have an actual original Win 10 CD. The 1809 and 1903 were from Media Creation Tool. I'm not sure it's a version mismatch either or if the reported versions are correct. I copied and pasted from command prompt. Here's the full transcript just in case anyone wonders. Any ideas? Where do I get the right version? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Nov 2019 04:51 PM PDT Okay so I have this really old laptop that i play minecraft off of, The battery broke and it won't charge so I have to keep it plugged in. But after like an hour of playing Minecraft it will freeze and immediately shut down when I turn it back on it says hardware disk failure, etc. then I load it up again and it's perfectly fine. I get a new computer in December so if there's no fixing it I'm OK, but it's super annoying anyone know how to fix this? [link] [comments]

a trick I just realize about my work's notebook Posted: 02 Nov 2019 07:16 PM PDT I was entrusted with an office laptop, which only for offline & intranet usage. since i really need to back up my tasks to the cloud, i set my phone and now the laptop connects to two network : intranet & internet. it's really an exciting experience especially since i know no one else here are aware about this. all their laptops are stuck on the lame usage, while mine could utilise the vast capabilities provided by the internet. Has anyone ever found a fix for the horribly janky 1903 mouse scroll wheel physics animations? Posted: 02 Nov 2019 07:16 PM PDT I tried turning off smooth scroll in performance, a third party app, some browser extensions (before I realized it was 1903 causing the janky bumping at the end of a scroll). I want it to scroll exactly like pageup/down or space bar (or like 8.1). Instant, no animation.. Is that even possible? [link] [comments]

Second Monitor (TV) when trying to watch a video through HDMI Posted: 02 Nov 2019 03:04 PM PDT Hello! So i've been trying to watch some netflix using my windows 10 laptop connected to the tv via hdmi, problem is, everything works fine until the video starts playing. At this point I can hear the sound coming from the tv but the video goes black with an lg logo written (no signal). I've tried so far:-Updating drivers via device manager.-Installing the last NVIDIA driver from the website-Extending the video-Showing the same video on both screens- Another HDMI that i'm sure it works, cause I use it on my main workstation- Restarting the computer a bunch of times. I think it's worth mentioning that after trying to play the video on netflix, the tv will only stop showing the "No signal" thing after i restart the laptop. It's a samsung laptop, intel i5 5200U , NVIDIA 710M, 8gb ram, windows 10 Did anyone ever got into this problem before, is there a solution, thanks in advance [link] [comments]

Question for Linux Dev about Windows 10 Posted: 02 Nov 2019 01:16 PM PDT I haven't used Windows for about fifteen years. I've been thinking for a while about using Windows 10 for my main desktop in a virtual machine. I wonder if someone could help answer a few questions:

Posted: 02 Nov 2019 11:38 AM PDT I have an issue I was wondering if anyone can help . I used my gaming pc for the first time in over a month and a half so my windows installed all these updates , so upon restarting my pc I got this screen just before it got into the windows screen where I input my password https://imgur.com/a/EsvEePh . Now I my keyboard/mouse are not recognised at all , ive tried other keyboards and mouse and nothing . I cant even try and reinstall windows because no matter what I try it stays on that screen saying there is no keyboard detected and I cant do anything to get into the bios so I can load the usb running the installation . Is this an issue with windows that has caused this or is this a motherboard issue ? [link] [comments]

Transfer Windows 7 Licence and install to new SSD - then updgrading to Windows 10 Posted: 02 Nov 2019 08:02 AM PDT Hi all I have an OEM Licence (Windows 7 Home Premium) on an old PC. Goal: Having Windows 10 running on that PC on a new SSD with a valid License. What's the best way to go about doing this? I was planning on taking the win7 license--> Setting up the same Home Premium version on the new SSD with the same key --> Then upgrading to Windows 10 with media creation tool from there. Will this work? [link] [comments]

Windows Media Player Not Ripping Properly Posted: 02 Nov 2019 09:10 AM PDT I am having an issue with Windows Media Player. I have it set to rip CDs when I insert them into my computer. Windows Media Player is not correctly naming the first track on albums that I rip. While the file name is correct, the album name, song name, and artist name are left blank. This means that the first track doesn't show up with the album in other music services. Any help you all can give is very appreciated. [link] [comments]
Windows backup that survives OS reinstall? Posted: 02 Nov 2019 06:02 AM PDT Hey Redditors, I need to upgrade Windows 7 to 10 on an important box. Given that it's currently very sluggish, I'm thinking the time is ripe for a reinstall. I could do a full backup, install the new OS from scratch, and then reinstall all apps one-by-one and copy back the app settings and data from the backup, but it's tedious and error-prone. I also need to be able to rollback the machine to its previous state if anything goes wrong. Can you recommend any tool that could help me out? How would you approach this? [link] [comments] |
