[DEV] Autonomous - an alternative to taker or macrodroid

    Posted: 03 Nov 2019 07:21 AM PST

Hello Redditors! I've just release an alternative app to Tasker or Macrodoid. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pi.io.autonomous

The focus is simplicity to use and a more natural way of defining rules. Although this might not bring too much power in covering complex usecases it brings simplicity in covering most usual tasks.

[DEV] Jade Pro Giveaway: Mood Journal app with full privacy, calendar and single click to make entries without even opening the app.

    Posted: 03 Nov 2019 08:47 AM PST

    Hey Guys,

This is my third giveaway for Jade pro, and they have been received really well every time. The Feedback received has helped immensely in making the app better with each update. So, here is another Pro giveaway for you all.

    So, What is jade?

Jade is a mood journal app that you can use to note down your thoughts, ideas and things like how your day went very easily and which keeps your privacy first and foremost.

The whole idea behind the app is simplicity and the ability to make fast entries. In fact, the app has a permanent notification (can be disabled) which you can pull down, and just make a single click to make an entry. You don't even need to open the app. The app then organises the entries, shows insightful stats and lets you surf through your entries easily. No one wants to open the app, make a bunch of clicks, type a paragraph, select location etc to make a single entry and Jade solves just that.

Coming to Privacy, no data related to your journal is uploaded anywhere or accessed in any form. All the data is stored in your phone itself, And it will always be like that. All stat calculation that you see in the app is done locally with data from the local database. Only data that are collected are anonymous data like crash logs which helps in making the app better. If you have any concerns or questions about Privacy, please let me know. That is one area of the app that I WILL NOT COMPROMISE. You can add Location to your entries which requires location permission but is completely OPTIONAL. And that is the only place where your location data is used, to add coordinates and address to your mood entries IF YOU WANT.

The app has been out for a few months now, and The most requested feature was to add more mood options which I did. Jade now has an 'Others' section which has more mood options and based on feedback, I will add more. A dark mode was requested as well which is now live. Infact there is a Dark mode and a Amoled Dark mode. You can also add custom Tags to each of your entries. If you have more suggestions, just keep them coming.

Another very highly requested feature now is ability to create your own Mood, and I am glad to say, I am working on it as the next major feature. This will take some time as there is technical complexities to add such a extensive feature, but I am fully commited to doing it right.

I am also commited to giving proper translations in various Languages now that the app is stable. Languages I will add in the first round of translations: Russian, Portuguese(Brazil), Italian, Dutch and German. So if you can help the app with this translations, that would really be helpful. I do not have much to offer, But I can surely offer you more Pro Codes.

I know the app is very niche and may not be for everyone, but please do give it a try, or if you know anyone who may want this app and benefit from it, I am happy to give them pro codes as well.

Please Private Message me and I will send you a Code right away! It's difficult to maintain track via comments and I do not want to miss anyone. If you PM me, rest assured, you will get the code. Do upvote this post so that other people can see the post as well!

I just have one request, Please give a 5-star review if you like the app. Good reviews and feedback is very helpful and keeps us motivated and makes us feel good to see our hard work is appreciated

When I released the app, I had no Idea on the direction of the app or the future, but since the release I have gotten dozens of email explaining how this app helps them, from people dealing with anxiety, depression or just people who wanted to organize their thoughts. I even got an email from a well known Psychologist expressing how helpful it is and giving some really good feedback. Since then, I have worked harder on this app working alongside my Day job and I plan to keep on doing it!

What is a good study tracking app?

    Posted: 03 Nov 2019 10:46 AM PST

I'm using Todait, it serves good but I wonder if you have any favourites or recommendations. What I expect from the app is:

•A chronometer for keeping the track of time spent studying

•A tool to keep track of the pages I've read/questions I solved at that time

•Labels/categories so I can see how much time I spent studying each subject.

    •Maybe a calendar?

•Maybe group sharing with the same app users?

    Thanks in advance.

Which reddit client (aside from the official one) has the best feature parity with desktop reddit?

    Posted: 03 Nov 2019 10:33 AM PST

Reddit has been introducing many new features in recent times, like emoji, custom rewards, live chat, RPAN, etc.

However most 3rd-part apps I've seen have been slow to adopt any of these features. I'd preferably not use the official app, so is there an app that does have good support for new features? Or is it just not possible for them to do so (due to API limitations?)

    ADB apps.

    Posted: 03 Nov 2019 10:31 AM PST

What are some apps that require ADB to work? I've just learned how to use ADB and I'd like to take full advantage of it. I've already tried Immersive Mode Manager and it's been pretty easy to setup.

Before I knew to to use ADB I constantly heard about apps that require it and now that I know how to use it no apps come to my mind.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

What was that app that allowed you to record calls?

    Posted: 03 Nov 2019 02:10 AM PST

So there are many apps for recording calls, but none come close to that one. It was ad-free, high quality, and user-friendly. The app icon was a red phone with a white background. After each call, it would pop up a rectangular box saying it had recorded the call, and whether you want to listen, keep, or delete it. I switched to a new android phone some months ago and didn't use SmartSwitch to move my apps... I sold my previous phone and don't think it would be recoverable anyway since I factory reset it when I wanted to sell. Can anyone give me a link from Playstore? It is also possible the app is no longer supported on my new device, but none of these apps are as good as that one was. They are riddled with annoying pop-up ads and/or record the audio very poorly. If you know the app, please provide the link.

    I'm looking for a Clock/Timer App

    Posted: 03 Nov 2019 09:12 AM PST

Hi All, I'm looking for a clock/timer app that DOES NOT use a spinner to choose the time. (I hate spinners. I feel like swiping up and down takes longer than just typing in a couple of numbers.) Sorry if this is pretty basic but I'm tired of constantly downloading and trying out different apps. Thanks.

    Study Quiz

    Posted: 03 Nov 2019 04:07 AM PST

I have an upcoming exam and have a pool of example test questions from an array of subjects that I need to study.

Is there any kind of study aide app that will quiz me on these exam questions, let's say 5 at a time while I'm on my morning commute?

    Any ideas?

    Posted: 03 Nov 2019 02:54 AM PST

i have been having this problem since i got my new phone, whenever i download PUBG mobile from the play store on my device, the download will reach around 80 persent and it will cancel itself, there will be no download bar in my notifications and when i go to the play store page to check, the page will give the option to install as if a download was never started before. in addition to this, the download will frequently stop and say "waiting for wifi" and start again. i have tried clearing data and cache of google play services, google play store, and download manager. my phone is a Samsung galaxy s8+ if that helps

Apps that can automatically call customer service teams and will measure how long the hold time is

    Posted: 02 Nov 2019 12:46 PM PDT

I need an app that will constantly call back a customer service team get through the verification of pressing, 1 then 3 etc.

I then want a way of exporting this data, which can be done by another app

Basically I'm infuriated with a companys hold time and out of interest and vendetta want to discover their average hold times with real data, I'll be using a spare phone and muting it and just leaving it on calling them, I assume once no one responds the customer service team will hang-up then I would like the process to start again.

    Reddit and Storage Organizer Questions

    Posted: 03 Nov 2019 05:52 AM PST

I have two questions I was hoping someone could help with.

    1. While using Google Chrome, when I open a Reddit link and Chrome asks if I'd like to open in app, I click the Reddit open button, it jumps away, and jumps right back to Chrome. Any ideas on how to fix this?

    2. When trying to use Storage Organizer, I keep getting an error "can not add folder. Shortcuts not allowed" any ideas on that fix?

Sorry if these are noob questions, I'm very new to Android!
