Posted: 31 Oct 2019 05:08 AM PDT So I tried to udpate windows on my yoga 920 a few week back. Long story short, It crashed my laptop and after a few days of tinkering was succesfully able to restore it using bios and recovery tools. So now I've found out that its the so called v1903 causing this? Tried updating it today but get this instead when using windows updater. "Feature update to Windows 10, version 1903 - Error 0xc1900223" Im assuming I have to manually do it now? [link] [comments]

I'm not having a great halloween Posted: 31 Oct 2019 10:38 AM PDT Some app called Segurazo, that pretends to be an antivirus got installed on my PC (probably by myself) and I don't seem to be able to remove it. I'd be thankful if anyone could provide me with a solution. [link] [comments]
Windows 10 Sign in screen not appearing Posted: 31 Oct 2019 11:35 AM PDT This is happening to my desktop as well but with my mom's old HP laptop, the sign in screen won't show up. The time and background will show up but once I press any button to enter the password nothing will appear regardless of the buttons I press. On the rare instances that it does load and I put in the password, nothing will load and it will just sit there with progress wheel spinning. I have already tried things such as using selective startup and will try disabling the start up screen and doing a start up repair once I get home. If that does not pan out; I am going to need some help [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Oct 2019 07:43 PM PDT Hello all Anyone have any luck with Mbam2.5? Trying to get Bitlocker to encrypt all os drives and flash drives besides a selective few? All is working and keys synching with AD however, the Bitlocker to go piece is not working as described . We have talked to two Microsoft reps with no luck. We want It so globally all flash drives are read only unless you password protect and enable BitLocker which is working! The problem we have is a small subset of devices robots , Retna scanners, special cameras we must use PID or hardware ID to whitelist or exclude from BitLocker. However nothing works and always asks me to encrypt. The way we were sold the product that we can set the policies to exclude specific hardware ids so these physicians can us this tools to do there job and the device doesn't encrypt and is able to write to the device. Any help would be appreciated. [link] [comments]

Posted: 31 Oct 2019 12:33 PM PDT A few days ago I was using my computer when I needed to change a setting. I had clicked on the search bar that is in the task bar but it wouldn't let me type anything in it and just changed to black. I then trued to restart the computer to see if that would fix it but the start button was also broken and wouldn't let me click on it. I restarted it using Ctrl+Alt+Del and upon signing in the task bar looked fix but sill wouldn't let me click on it. I was trying to see if there was a windows update but once again the start button was also broken. I tried to open setting using win+r ms-settings: where the setting windows would start loading but would crash before it finished loading. I was going to try to do a restore to an earlier point but I can't access the setting to be able to do it. What can I do to fix this. Windows 10 OpenSSH as optional feature Posted: 31 Oct 2019 08:38 AM PDT Hello, please dont beat me hard on my question as I learn as I go. So recently added OpenSSH client and server from optional features but when I'm trying to get ssh to my lantronix spider kvm it doesnt connect me because of this message: Unable to negotiate with 10.1.1.240 port 22: no matching key exchange method found. Their offer: diffie-hellman-group1-sha1. So did research on this regard and found that people on Git are recommending to download latest release and I did download it but cannot understand how to make windows run this actual downloaded release... Also did action command in powershell ssh -Q kex where output was like this: diffie-hellman-group1-sha1 diffie-hellman-group14-sha1 diffie-hellman-group14-sha256 diffie-hellman-group16-sha512 diffie-hellman-group18-sha512 diffie-hellman-group-exchange-sha1 diffie-hellman-group-exchange-sha256 ecdh-sha2-nistp256 ecdh-sha2-nistp384 ecdh-sha2-nistp521 curve25519-sha256 [curve25519-sha256@libssh.org](mailto:curve25519-sha256@libssh.org) Could you please assist me with that? Thank you in advance for any hints and tips [link] [comments]
Power & Sleep questions & missing Ryzen Balanced Power Plan Posted: 31 Oct 2019 06:18 PM PDT I just noticed on my Windows 10 desktop gaming PC that in the "Power & Sleep" section in Settings there is a bar. The left side says "Best Energy Savings" and the right side says "Best Performance". Can someone tell me what this does? I see no explanation. Also, I installed the latest chipset driver directly from the AMD website. And I told it to install the Ryzen Balanced Power Plan when installing. However, it's not showing up in the "Additional power settings" section. What's the deal? [link] [comments]
Win10: How do see activity for the past couple days? Posted: 31 Oct 2019 11:29 AM PDT I could've sworn there was a way to see what files/programs you've used in the past couple days, but I can't remember how/where to see it. Anyone know? [link] [comments]

Last day to upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 10 for free? Posted: 31 Oct 2019 07:26 AM PDT If I look at official statements the offer is long gone but people are seemingly still able to upgrade for free? Anyone know what's the last day they can do that? Supposedly an IT person said November 2020 but I can't find any source. Trying to help a friend who wants to upgrade. Found this guide that seemed helpful but not sure if it still works: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/139745-upgrade-windows-10-windows-7-free.html [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Oct 2019 07:11 AM PDT Ever since upgrading to the latest build, every now and then a small window appears on my screen ever so often. It only stays on the screen maybe a quarter of a second, and during that time, it appears that there's one line of text near the top of the window. That text gets highlighted by a green background, and then the window disappears. It all happens too fast for me to hit Print Screen. Does anyone know of a way I can automatically capture this window so I know what I'm dealing with here? [link] [comments]

Posted: 31 Oct 2019 07:25 PM PDT I'm texting this from my iPhone since my laptop is basically useless right now. I went to my first-morning class with my Yoga 720, took some notes, closed the lid and went to my second class. I took some notes there, went home updated to the lastest v1903 and the trackpad just stopped working. The keyboard still works and I can still use the pointer if I connect a mouse, but other than that, nothing. I've tried everything: checking if I pushed the F6 'trackpad disable key', restarting, uninstalling drivers and reinstalling nothing. Please help! [link] [comments]

Unused space on Windows 10 install disk Posted: 31 Oct 2019 07:03 AM PDT I need to reinstall Windows 10 on my current PC (long story) and went ahead and created the install disk using the Media Creation Tool. During the process I discovered that my trusty $1.20 flash drive was borked, so I grabbed the nicer 128 GB drive I got as a promo from Samsung last year. The Media Creation Tool only ate up 32 GB of the space on it when it created the install disk, which brings me to my question. Can I format the other 87.51 GB of unallocated space on this install drive safely, and continue using that portion as a regular thumb drive? I like to keep an install disk on hand, but this one is too "nice" a drive for it. I did some searching and couldn't find anything on this, so I thought I would ask. Sorry if I missed something obvious. [link] [comments]

Posted: 31 Oct 2019 08:48 AM PDT I've been looking for facial recognition software that automatically locks a workstation when someone steps away from it. I am not interested in the Bluetooth option windows has. I've read a few articles from 2017 that said windows may be working on this auto lock feature called windows goodbye... But can't find any newer articles. Does anyone know if this was scrapped? And if so, does anyone know of a working piece of software for this? Thank you! [link] [comments] |
