Posted: 29 Oct 2019 04:38 AM PDT It doesn't have to be $5 exactly, I don't mind throwing a few bucks at something... I just don't want to waste the promotional credits -- which I have no idea how I even acquired. [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Oct 2019 07:45 PM PDT So I set up the windows 10 hotspot hoping to use it for my phone, went through all the steps, and my phone connects to it. However, it says there's no internet connection. Check with CMD and it says that "Hosted network supported". There seems to be some data pass through though, because when connected my phone receives updates for Facebook Messenger. Albeit, it bit late. So, can someone explain to me why this is? Is there is a way to configure hotspot without this particular type of support? [link] [comments]
Is there any way to adjust my monitor size in display settings without adjusting resolution? Posted: 29 Oct 2019 07:26 AM PDT I have 3 monitors (laptop + 2 external), all of which are 1920x1080, however one is much larger than the other 2 and I'd like my settings to reflect that. I know if I adjust the resolution I get the effect I'm looking for, but I don't want to adjust the resolution as it can only get smaller (making everything on my screen larger). The issue with the current setup is that my 3rd monitor overlaps both the other ones so much that when I have to drag something to it, I have to find the sweet spot in the middle of both monitors 1 & 2 to find the space into the third one, which is kinda of a PITA. Anyone know of a way to accomplish this? Example of what I'm trying to accomplish: https://i.imgur.com/yw0urJo.jpg Thanks. [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Oct 2019 11:24 AM PDT I currently use a single speaker connected to the audio out on my monitor and a headset connected to the audio on the back of my computer. Is there any way to set the speaker audio to mono while keeping the headset audio stereo? [link] [comments]
Mouse without borders, use keyboard shortcuts only? Posted: 29 Oct 2019 01:22 PM PDT How can I set it up so that I always have to use keyboard shortcut to change computer? So that just moving mouse over the edge does nothing? I can only set it up so that it uses both, which I dont understand, it is useless that way [link] [comments]
I was sold a frauded/illegal Windows 10 key Posted: 29 Oct 2019 05:58 PM PDT Exactly one month ago I bought a custom made PC. I choose all the hardware with the guys from the store, a little overpriced but I coulld not aford to buy it online cheaper and buy it myself. The moment comes to buy the Windows 10 key. I picked a W10 home edition for $80 dollars (Brazil has some expensive stuff) and they "accidently" gave me an W10 Pro Edition, that theoretically was an direct upgrade so they let it slip. Turns out, after calling Microsoft: "You are using a free distrubited key for developers". And I paid $80 dollars for a free key. Just for the sake of curiosity. Was I completely ripped off? Should I go there and get my money back or sue them? Any ideais are appreciated. [link] [comments]
Convince me to upgrade to Windows 10 Posted: 29 Oct 2019 05:42 PM PDT Title. I have a desktop (4 GB RAM + GT 1030 + i5 3470) running Windows 7. I don't game anymore, I mainly use my computer for academics and web surfing. [link] [comments]
How do I create a password reset disk for an another PC? (WIN10) Posted: 29 Oct 2019 06:51 AM PDT I need to reset my dad's user's password, since he forgot it. I tried software called isumsoft, but it cannot reset the password using the trial version. What are your suggestions for any freeware that would mount itself to a USB drive and could be booted from? Thanks. [link] [comments]
Windows 7 laptop supposedly have wifi searching options but there is no settings to find wifi. Posted: 29 Oct 2019 12:32 AM PDT One of my friends asked help to get wifi connections on Windows 7 laptop. There is button which supposedly would turn on/off wifi connector (how actually it's called?) but when pressing nothing happens. On keyboard there is button which should be doing same but again - nothing. In Network and Sharing Center there isn't any settings about wifi connections. I tried googling but I didn't find simmilar if not same problem and solution for it. Also tried searching on this subreddit but no luck so far. So because of that I'm making this post. So what can I do? Edit. I fixed I just needed to install wifi drivers from device manager. But because on that laptop I couldn't use internet than I downloaded from different laptop then I transferred to that laptop. From device manager I manually located drivers folder and just in case included sub folders. I searched for laptop manufacturer and model of laptop and added drivers. And looked for network driver. Posted: 29 Oct 2019 03:24 PM PDT I downloaded the Outer Worlds from the Windows Store and I downloaded an extra 37 gb (even though the game is 37 gb) for around a total of 74 gb. I looked into the files and there's a folder called MSIXVC which has a compressed version of the Outer Worlds for whatever reason. I tried to delete it but it said the file was open in system. I also checked and I am not the owner of the folder, the system is. It'd be great if anyone knew of a fix for this as I looked into it and could not find any definitive answers. Also the file is deleted once the game is deleted but I'd like to have the game downloaded without an extra 37 gb taking up space. [link] [comments]
How the MS store is awful but the app is not very much better Posted: 29 Oct 2019 04:41 AM PDT So I had my post almost done. And it was written wonderful. But I tried to start a game and somehow it killed my instance of Firefox and everything I wrote was gone. Just 3 Seconds after strarting I thought at myself – maybe I should save before… but I didn't The Xbox App is bad. Not as bad as the MS store. It has finally a readable measurement of downloadspeed 4MB/s. And a bar with your games at the site. And you have a list of all games in the gamepass. But problems are there too. So I installed the Xbox App just an hour ago and tried to download a game. This didn't worked much better than in the MS store. I tried to play Ni No Kuni 2 on steam. It crashed, because out of memory. And so did the Download, ERROR. I resumed the Download and did something I used to do yesterday – I played an MS Store game (or in that case XBOX App game). I chose Bloodstained: Ritual of the night. I came to the part where it actually tried to load my savefile. And it crashed. Out of Memory. And my Download – ERROR. The Errorcode I get when looking at the details: 0x8007000e – I only found stuff around windows updates with the code. I think this is the same that happened with the Store. So it was not my bad bad internet connection in combination with my awful (for that one guy) WLAN stick. And I chose to write this post until it is ready with the download and it worked fine so far. And of course I monitored my RAM a bit since – OUT OF MEMORY. I have good 16 GB ram. There are 30% used, Firefox, Windows stuff, XBOX App, steam. And right now I have the game at that point where I am in the level (So behind the loading screen). And it use low and behold whole 1,1GB. And 50% GPU. So I am not even close anywhere to get to my Memory limit. After the download was done I tried to play Bloodstained again and it worked fine. And so does literally EVERYTHING on my computer. Something I think that could happen. The Store and the XBOX App are not able to stay in their Memory allocation and just Access Memory that is used by the game. My first post was funnier and more interesting, but it takes a lot of time to write and it is gone :/ Last test: So, I told you guys how I was not able to play Bloodstained. Well. I am now in the Store, while downloading something from the Store. (Game doesn't crash), but as soon as I go back into the game my Download failed. This time that Errorcode: 0x8024001E. So somehow Bloodstained f_ups the download. Blair Witch Project doesnt... What the heck is just wrong here? Oh and this time the store didn't complain about something, it just started right away to download on my D: drive... But at that moment I want everything on F. Can't change to F because it didn't gave me the select menue and I can't change it in the Setting, because of another Errorcode... Summery: Xbox App and Windows Store F_up the download when I try a program, that somehow is not the chosen one. Just the Xbox App destroys that open game complete by let it throw an out of memory Error. with like 10 Gig of free Memory. [link] [comments]
How to turn off adobe app auto launch Posted: 29 Oct 2019 02:47 PM PDT Hello. Whenever I turn on my laptop, adobe processes automatically run, even though I've opened no adobe programs. For example, adobe CC library will be open and such (about 7 adobe processes running). Is there a way to shut these down automatically on start up so I don't have to kill every process? Posted: 29 Oct 2019 11:05 AM PDT I'm on Windows 10 Pro Version 1903, for the last few months my laptop's integrated camera can't be started. My laptop is a ThinkPad P50. In the event log I see I've researched this and there doesn't seem to be a fix. Some posts recommend disabling the Frame Sever using a registry fix. Is anyone aware of a fix? [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Oct 2019 09:45 PM PDT I remember reading that Edge was going to be replaced with a new Chromium based version. Did this happen yet? Mine seems the same to me. [link] [comments]
Installing Windows on a MacBook Pro, without dual-boot? Posted: 29 Oct 2019 10:41 AM PDT I want to install Windows 10 on my 2019 MacBook Pro. The SSD only has 256GB, so I don't want to waste storage space on MacOS. So far I am only able to find dual-boot instructions using Boot Camp. How do I completely replace MacOS with Windows? Windows 10 1909 Broke My Bluetooth Posted: 28 Oct 2019 10:55 PM PDT Yesterday I moved from Windows 10 1903 to Windows 10 1909 by deleting everything on the hard drive. My Bluetooth headset, which was working properly before the format process, was no longer detected. I tried connecting again after making sure I had installed all the drivers and made all the Windows updates, but the result didn't change. I have erased and reinstalled the drivers for my wireless adapter from the device manager maybe 50 times, and finally managed to connect to my headset. After using it for 5-6 hours, I turned off the computer, and when I turned it back on, it didn't detect my headset. In the same way, I erased the driver and reinstalled it repeatedly, but this time it did not work. These are the solutions I've tried:
None of the above solve my problem. My Bluetooth adapter: Qualcomm Atheros AR3012 Bluetooth 4.0, My Bluetooth headset: Xiaomi Airdots Earbuds TWS Bluetooth 5.0 Headset (works on my phone. So there's nothing wrong with the headset) I know that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth work on the same adapter. Wi-Fi is working fine. I've been trying to solve this problem for two days. Please help me. Wireless Display Problems Windows 10 Posted: 29 Oct 2019 02:44 AM PDT Hello dear Windows Community, a helpless apprentice needs you. For some time now I've been trying to connect one or more laptops to a Mini PC via wireless display, because it's connected to a big TV. Except for one laptop in the domain, every connection fails. The Mini PC has already been completely reinstalled and removed from the domain, all known Windows settings have been checked and all drivers have been updated. The laptops are all up to date. All laptops are Lenovo laptops with a maximum age of 4 years. The laptop of the employee where the access is successful was bought twice, but only one of the devices can be connected, and mobile devices like the Redmi can connect directly to the wireless display. Even if a laptop and the Mini PC have been reinstalled and the access does not fail in the domain, it has already been tested without a firewall. Many thanks for the help.<3 [link] [comments] |
