OK Google, Spotify, & Bluetooth Android Help

OK Google, Spotify, & Bluetooth Android Help

    OK Google, Spotify, & Bluetooth

    Posted: 20 Sep 2019 03:33 PM PDT

Where do I start... I really hope someone here can point me in the right direction on sorting this out before I pick up an iPhone again!

I stream music from Spotify over Bluetooth to my car stereo from my OnePlus 6T with all updates installed. I use OK Google to control what spotify plays.

    Problems:

a.) The displayed song on my car stereo system will sometimes not change when a track changes in Spotify, and the current running time is always out of sync and seems to go up in strange increments, sometimes 2 seconds, sometimes, 5 or 10. End result is me not knowing what song is playing, and/or where abouts in the track I am, very frustrating. Sometimes it will display the same song through playing a whole album.

b.) Sometimes, when saying "OK Google, play *insert artist name here*", Google will reply with "OK, telling spotify to play *insert band name here*" - but what it will actually do is absolutely nothing and the previous song and artist continues to play. Even more frustrating! It's like talking to a brick wall, and I thought Siri was bad....

All of this worked fantastically with Apple Music on an iPhone 6 connected to my car stereo via bluetooth, correct track names, exact track time position and Apple Music would always start playing the artist, album or song I asked it to.

Am I being crazy, this should be working right? Anyone else have the same frustrations or have any suggestions? Thanks!

Auto dark mode on Android Q?

    Posted: 20 Sep 2019 07:30 PM PDT

I know you can select dark theme on Display. How do I make it automatic, and have light mode in day and dark at night, like with blue light and dark mode on iOS?

Would the apple airpods work well with an Android, specifically a Samsung Galaxy s8? Or are there a better true wireless earbud out there?

What is the point of blocking calls??

    Posted: 20 Sep 2019 07:00 AM PDT

Samsung Galaxy S8 from Verizon. Like everyone else the only phone calls I get are spam bullshit. I've tried blocking the numbers through my phone and through Verizon.

What possible reason could there be to inform me every time I get a phone call from a blocked number?? How is that even blocking a number if I still get notified every time it calls me?? This is completely useless. For me it's a nuisance, my girlfriend on the other hand has an ex-boyfriend/stalker that constantly harasses her and she is repeatedly having to deal with the anxiety of being reminded of her abusive stalker all the time. It's really fucked up, honestly. Blocking a call should mean the number is BLOCKED. It does not get through to you in any way whatsoever. What kind of joke is this

    Cast receiver app is needed

    Posted: 20 Sep 2019 06:46 PM PDT

Hi all , i have a Chinese android tv box. And out of the box it it came with an app called (Miracast) now after updating the box the Miracast app is gone. Basically this app allowed me to mirror my phone. It was very simple and light weight , just open the and your phone would detect it in the cast menu.

There is a similar app called cast receiver but it is paid. Can anyone help me recover my app or a better alternative

Sorry for my bad English, not a native speaker

    No stupid questions, right?

    Posted: 20 Sep 2019 09:47 PM PDT

So, I'm using a new product at work called Teleportivity. It's used to make video calls through a website without having to download an app. The problem is the first time I used it, I disallowed access to the camera and microphone on the pop up. How do I get back to that option?

Android 10: Screen repeatedly turns itself on

    Posted: 20 Sep 2019 05:17 PM PDT

I'll be holding my phone in one hand, walking, fingers far away from any button, listening to a podcast. The screen constantly turns itself on. I can turn it off but mere seconds later it's back on. This is new behavior since upgrading to Android 10 yesterday. How do I stop this aggravating behavior?

Question about smart view on Samsung

    Posted: 20 Sep 2019 02:01 PM PDT

So i am using the smart view fixture on my s8+ to cast it to a smart tv ( it's tcl ) and it works perfectly, but i was wondering if there is a way to have the sound come out from my phone so that i can connect it to earphones rather than having the sound come out from the tv.

    Thanks in advance

    WhatsApp? Cheating husband?

    Posted: 20 Sep 2019 07:27 PM PDT

So my husband has been unfaithful before and I found something that I'm worried about.. I was using his phone to find some of our family vacation photos (he has an Android) and I was looking at his file app for what's app and found multiple .nomedia files as well as folders that say .shared and both contain these weird media files for what's app.. after googling it I found many people use this to hide photos.. Is this something he could be doing or does WhatsApp do it on its own? Our messages on WhatsApp don't add up either.. he's also received several more messages and sent several more than what he was ever sent me? Is this a WhatsApp issue as well? I know I'm being overly concerned but he's been very secretive lately and I just need to know if he's being faithful or not. I can't do another mistress and his lies again. Please someone help inform me if these things are him doing them and not just an app issue?

Have phonemakers implemented mechanisms for making charging your phone overnight not affect battery health?

    Posted: 20 Sep 2019 05:36 AM PDT

    Hey,

I've seen a linustechtips video where he said that you shouldn't charge your phone overnight because it wears down the battery. It was a while ago, I don't remember the exact explanation but haven't phonemakers come up with a solution to this? Would be a good thing unless you're going the planned obsolescence route.

Google Assistant Voice Recognition Goes Haywire When Sending Texts on LG G8

    Posted: 20 Sep 2019 06:36 PM PDT

I recently switched to an LG G8 after accidentally destroying my Pixel 3. I've never had any issues using google assistant (often through Android Auto) to dictate text messages. However, since switching, everything works fine with google assitant up until the point of actually dictating the text. I can say "Text Joe Schmo" and get "Ok, texting Joe Schmo, What's the message?" and then no matter what I say, it inputs nonsense as the text message. Like, it's not even remotely in the ballpark of what I'm saying, it's just random words. It does this whether i'm using Android Auto or Google Assistant directly on my phone.

Again, Google Assistant has no issues recognizing and responding correctly to anything else I'm doing other than when I'm dictating a text message.

Any help as to what is going on?

all my android devices max out at 65-72 mbps wifi link speed on 802.11n

    Posted: 20 Sep 2019 06:28 PM PDT

I have 400mbps internet, and these low link speeds cripple my download.

laptop, 3 phones, 1 tablet, router, all sitting on the same table.
Router set to 40mhz channel width, so a phone with a shitty 1x1 antenna should be able to do 150mbps.
The laptop, with a 2x2 antenna, connects at 300mbps link speed easily.
So I have no idea why all the phones and tablet right next to it can't connect at 150mbps.

Is all android shitty like this?
The jellybean, nougat, pie, all top out at 65-72mbps on 40mhz 802.11n.

Chrome history from early May is deleting itself when Chrome is open, but pauses the auto-deletion when it's closed - need to export it from outside somehow?

    Posted: 20 Sep 2019 09:31 AM PDT

The deletion occurs about thrice a minute, deleting several realtime minutes of the browsing history - however when I close Chrome, the deletion process is put on hold.

I hadn't used Chrome in weeks (slacking with the planned History saving lol), so apparently the early history that was "due" to start getting deleted weeks ago has been intact with the app closed - and is now "catching up to" some cut-off point (probably late May, i.e. 4 months ago) after which it'll start deleting itself in real time?

At any rate, it's impossible to keep up with this pace - in the time I manage to quickly open the entries in background tabs, these saved ones along with twice as many unsaved ones get nuked.

So I need either some really quick method (bookmarking them all from within the History, the way it's possible in the Android browser, seems impossible; opening all at once too; so taking screenshots at best?) or to export those entries from outside while Chrome is closed.

An option I've found online is via Google Takeout - however it requires me to log in with my Google account, and I can't recover the password atm.

So, what will happen if I create a new additional Google account? Will it somehow mess with Chrome's data if it's been running under the original account? Or will its data and history simply be unavailable from that new account?

I'd need to know the risks before I try it, at the very least.

PS: Can't find a "history" file in Totalcommander or other root explorers.

    Android 10 Face Unlock Bugged?

    Posted: 20 Sep 2019 05:50 PM PDT

Hey, so I have a Google Pixel 2 XL. Prior to the Android 10 update, I have never used the facial recognition feature, and have always had it disabled. I have had no problems until after the update.

Ive read that facial recognition has been removed in Android 10 for security reasons, but I believe my problem exists because of this.

Whenever I look at my phone that is on its stand-by screen (the black screen that shows basic information), it opens up my lock screen and shows all my notifications etc. (What you would see if you pressed the power button).

This only started after Android 10 was installed, andI cannot seem to find any way to disable this, and it's so freaking annoying when I lock my phone, go to put it down and see it light up again because it saw something that resembles a face. Over and over again.

    Any way to fix this???

I have a Benro smartphone gimbal that works with iOS but not Android. Where do I get help?

    Posted: 20 Sep 2019 05:06 PM PDT

Note: my contact with Benro is described below.

I have a Benro 3XS, which has a pass-through microphone connection. You plug a microphone into the gimbal handle, and plug a 3.5mm cable into the phone from the phone clamp. The phone is then supposed to record audio from the mic.

I have a Galaxy S9 with a 3.5mm headphone jack running Android 9, a Pixel 3 with no headphone jack running Android 10, and an iPhone 8 running iOS 12.4.1. When I plug the S9 in with 3.5mm cable, no audio. When I plug the pixel 3 in with a 3.5mm to USB C adapter, no audio. When I plug the iPhone in with a 3.5mm to lightning adapter, it gets the audio from the mic and records it.

I've contacted Benro, and they say to send it back; they haven't responded to follow-up email and 2 phone calls where I left messages asking if it's software, not hardware. Dang.

How do I trouble shoot this? I have no skills in this area, but it seems to me not to be a hardware problem, since the set up works with the iPhone and not the Android. I have a video showing the set up with the S9 here so you can see what I'm trying to describe. The manual describes the order in which I have plugged in the cables, so I'm following the directions.

Clear All missing from task view in Android 10?

    Posted: 20 Sep 2019 10:28 AM PDT

I just updated my Pixel 2 XL to Android 10 (official OTA), and now when I view the last of running apps, and scroll all the way to the left, there's no "Clear All" option anymore. Anyone else seeing this?

I'm using Nova Launcher (which Android 10 didn't want to properly use until I rebooted the phone) if that matters.

Should I disable apps that affect the UI of my phone before updating from Android 9 to 10?

    Posted: 20 Sep 2019 07:38 AM PDT

By disable I mean first undo the changes they made and then disable them.

After having a Windows Phone for years I recently bought a Nokia 8.1 and have installed and set up apps like SystemUI Tuner, Navigation Gestures, and Lawnchair v2. Although I don't think that last one will be a problem the other ones do things like remove my navigation bar and put all apps in "Immersive Mode" by default and so I was wondering if potentially some problems may pop up if I just updated to the new version.

Example horror scenario I'm fearing: the navigation bar remains disappeared but the "pill" that's meant replace it is also gone because the app is somehow incompatible with the new Android version.
