Laptop sees private network as an open wifi Posted: 03 Sep 2018 07:24 AM PDT My phone works fine with this wifi network. On the other hand, my laptop detects the wifi, but it appears "open" so I'm not able to enter the security password. I can click on "connect", but I have no internet. I did some research, but nothing that I've read worked so far. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
Linux Mint: Dual Boot Failed... Posted: 03 Sep 2018 11:40 AM PDT Fast Boot & Secure are both disabled I have a live USB stick with Linux Mint 19 on it, I wrote the image to a disk using Universal USB Installer. I made a new partition by shrinking my D drive to make about 180GB free I went into my boot menu after restarting my PC and have 3 options: Windows Boot Manager, UEFI: SanDisk, USB: SanDisk I chose UEFI: SanDisk, because I was told I had to start it in UEFI mode or else installation would fail, so I get a new menu with these options: *Start Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon 64-bit Start Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon 64-bit (compatibility mode) OEM Install (for manufacturers) Check integrity of the medium Upon choosing both the top options I get this error: *error: Couldn't find suitable memory target * Followed by a page of errors with kernel panic etc then my mouse and keyboard both turn off and I have to turn off my computer using the button on my tower Does anyone have any ideas? I was really hoping this dual boot thing would work... [link] [comments] |
Malfunctioning sound effecting graphics card? Posted: 03 Sep 2018 12:16 AM PDT System Specs: EVGA GTX Geforce 1070 Ti SC GAMING ACX 3.0 Black Edition Intel Core i7 8700K MSI Z170A Gaming M5 Motherboard Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate Edition + Service Pack 1 The Issue: I've had an audio issue as long as I can remember that changes states when restarting my computer. So far I've noticed three different states: 1. My audio will not work at all. This means for online use, iTunes, offline videos, etc. When trying to play a Youtube videos I will get a playback issue about 3 seconds in and the video itself will not play. 2. My audio will work almost as it should, but not quite. I will hear a very faint click/buzz sound when playing audio of any kind. Only on the initialization of the audio. 3. My audio will work perfectly without any problem whatsoever. The biggest concern is how the states effect my graphics card and why/how it would effect my graphics card. Audio state 1: I will not be able to play any games. Generally when state 1 occurs I restart my computer until state 2 or 3 arise. Audio state 2: I will be able to play games fine, but there is a noticeable performance effect on my graphics card. The frame drop was so noticeable that I almost believe my high-end GPU was faulty. Audio state 3 (ideal): My graphics card performs I believe up to standard. I will get 80 - 100 FPS on average while rarely dipping below 60 FPS on PUBG. As opposed to state 2 whereas I would get an average of 65 - 80 FPS while often dipping below 60 FPS. Useful information: This issue existed with my previous graphics card as well (GTX 960). I've also re-installed video drivers and audio drivers. I ran benchmarks for all of my hardware and found that all components were working as intended. I have Realtech audio drivers, but also use Nahimic 2. For some reason I cannot record audio at all using Nvidia's Shadowplay. The video will record fine, but the audio will not work at all. Any assistance at all is appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Removing the base and the stand of iiyama G-Master GE2488HS? Posted: 03 Sep 2018 03:49 AM PDT I need to remove the base and stand of my GE2488HS for transport, all manuals I can find online only describe the easy part of taking off the base, which still leaves the stand dangling under the screen. All help appreciated, thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
