Browser crashes persist through re-formats, different cpu/mobos Posted: 16 Aug 2018 07:30 AM PDT I've had an issue with either firefox/chrome crashing (either completely, or just the tab) either on start-up or very quickly afterward when going to a regular site, like amazon.com or facebook.com. These crashes have persisted through two different CPUs, 2 motherboards, at least 4 video cards and 3 different sets of ram, and at least 10 different windows installations and reformats, and I cannot figure out what is causing the issue.
Before my upgrade, I had: i5 2500k, ASUS Z67-V Pro, 8 gigs of 2133 Mhz ram, 780 Ti. and afterward I now have i5 8600k, ASUS Z370-A, 16 gigs of 2400 Mhz ram along with a 1080 Ti
It used to only happen in chrome, where it would immediately crash or it would be a ticking timer as to when it would actually crash, often a few seconds later, where firefox didn't seem to have any problems. After the hardware upgrade though, it seems that the opposite is now true, firefox crashes all the time and now chrome crashes very sporadically. I've tested the memory using memtest, tested the CPU using prime95, and the video card using the heaven benchmark, and nothing seems to cause any problems, except when using the browsers.
Note: it seems to not happen in the 32 bit version of firefox, but the developer edition along with the 64 bit edition of firefox quantum seem to have this problem regardless. This is an example of the crash reports generated by firefox, https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/6c2e62a6-9930-445f-9dd1-69b601180816 it seems to always be: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION_READ I've turned off hardware acceleration in firefox and chrome, it doesn't seem to have affected anything, and I've uninstalled the bundled adobe flash player and installed the full one from adobe -- again, no change. I've tried what seems to be everything with no luck, and now I'm thinking it might be a hardware problem -- could it be the PSU? I've had: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005 since the beginning and had no problems up to this point, but could it be very slowly failing? I've had it since 2011. edit: I've tried firefox/chrome on clean windows installations as well, no plugins, no additional programs or add-ons. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 16 Aug 2018 01:21 PM PDT I have issue's with my eye sight. Just recently brought a laptop off ebay. Sony being the shittiest service support provider for laptops have compatibility issue's with their installations, so I can't install the proper software with the option which allows me to turn off the backlight which is affecting my eye's. The software's called VAIO Media Control Centre . I've tried almost everything. Using older versions, resetting the laptop and contacted Sony calls got rejected ,so I filled out a contact form still no response. https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/pcs-accessories/sony-vaio-control-media-won-t-install-old-sony-laptop-windows-10/m-p/2495014#M137520 [link] [comments] |
Posted: 16 Aug 2018 01:21 PM PDT A few weeks ago, my "friend" borrowed my phone under the guise of calling an Uber. I let her borrow it and since I trusted her, I left her alone for a few minutes while I went to the bathroom. After she left, when I opened Snapchat, I was logged out. I tried to log back in with my credentials but I suspect that she changed the password and email. I've been extremely depressed as a result. All of my photos going back YEARS were saved on there. I can never get them back. I contacted Snapchat but they said that because the email was changed, they couldn't help me. I don't know if anyone here can help me regain access. I'm tired of feeling so depressed. Can someone please help? [link] [comments] |

New laptop. Question about creating a recovery ISO Posted: 15 Aug 2018 03:42 PM PDT I just got a new laptop. I tried to create a recovery ISO, what came out was 6 recovery_dvds with the filetype of .iso. I am familiar with creating a bootable usb with one .iso file, but since 6 were created, how to I create a bootable usb now? [link] [comments] |
(Suspected) Corrupted Driver Causing BSODs [NEED HELP] Posted: 15 Aug 2018 02:45 PM PDT Hi there, first time on the subreddit, but not my first time on a build. Just recently upgraded my PC by purchasing and installing a new GPU, CPU, mobo, a new SSD, and new RAM. Last night I was able to get the build to boot and post. My first instincts were to go into the device manager and to begin updating the drivers. I hadn't yet finished the build, so amidst updating the drivers and restarting my computer, I had turned off the system after the first restart to finalize some things in the case. After attempting to turn the computer back on again to continue updating drivers, I was met with a BSOD loop. I deployed a variety of methods to try to break this loop and to access Windows Recovery Environment or something akin to that to fix/update/stop the corrupted driver or reinstall Windows 10, but I have not been able to reach it. I also haven't been able to access safe mode of Windows 10 to make any changes since this has happened. I have confirmed it is not an outright hardware issue, since when I enter BIOS, my computer will remain on and last indefinitely, as opposed to when I let it run and try to load up to the OS, where I am met with an endless restart loop and various BSODs. I have tried to boot to my Windows 8.1 installation disk I used when I built my first computer ~4 years ago, and I have also tried to boot to a bootable USB with Windows 10 via the Microsoft Installation Media download, to no success. I'm in a rut trying to figure out what I need to do to stop the loop and boot to safe mode or Windows RE without interference where I can even begin to solve this. Any help, please, would be greatly appreciated.
