Sending in phone to get refurbished, will they look at my files? Posted: 28 Oct 2019 05:48 PM PDT Didn't know what other sub to post this in, so apologies if it's in an incorrect place. I had a battery problem with my S8 where it won't turn on, and I have warranty so I am just getting a replacement. However I have to send me old one in to get refurbished, and I'm just a bit paranoid about sending in devices with data that I haven't wiped myself. When they replace the battery and get it to work, they'd have no real reason to but could they look at anything that's on the device before resetting it? Just a data paranoid person, that's all. What could I do to get the data off myself, if the battery doesn't work? I was thinking of going in to get the battery replaced but then I wouldn't be able to send it in as a replacement, would I? Weird situation. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
Is there any way to mute a specified app? Posted: 28 Oct 2019 10:48 AM PDT I really enjoy playing a particular version of Tetris but you cannot turn the music off during the game, this is infuriatingly annoying when I'm trying to listen to music. Is there any way I can mute that app? I know this is pretty advanced and this device isn't rooted, I'm aware how to root and use xposed etc so if it comes to it in happy to do so but my googling has gotten me nowhere. Any help would be appreciated! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Oct 2019 06:37 PM PDT Currently I have to use a web browser which takes forever to sign in on all accounts on, is there a thunderbird like solution to have all of my accounts in one place? P.S What about html signature? I have a file that I use for my signature and it would be beneficial to use it on Android also.. Is it possible? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Oct 2019 06:22 PM PDT I recently applied for a position and happen to know that the call I am waiting for will come from a certain area code, is there any way to make it so that my phone will ring if it is from that area code and not others? My current job doesn't like us keeping our ringers on. Galaxy s7 if it is relevent [link] [comments] |
"Your Data in the Assistant" keeps showing "Paused" on App and Contact info Posted: 28 Oct 2019 09:59 PM PDT My assistant doesn't work until I enable "app info from your devices" and "contact info from your devices". I enable this daily and each time it pauses itself later on. Does anyone know why this is happening? It's really frustrating [link] [comments] |
Google Voice - Voicemail picks up every call *except* rejected calls. How's that possible?! Posted: 28 Oct 2019 08:28 PM PDT Weird symptoms - decline call vs airplane mode I have conditional call forwarding enable for all scenarios, I had AT&T deactivate my carrier voicemail and had them forward all calls to Google Voice. I set Google Voice to "Do not Disturb" so all calls go to voicemail (I only want it as a voicemail inbox). When calls ring out, Google Voice picks up ✅ When I'm busy, Google Voice picks up ✅ When I'm on airplane mode, Google Voice picks up ✅ When I decline / reject a call, I get a busy tone ❌ What the heck is going on? Clearly Google Voice is setup correctly but it's not picking up on a rejected call. P.S. Even more interesting now, I can see that Google Voice did in fact receive the phone calls (each reject that I tested). So they are going through but Google refuses to pick up 🧐 [link] [comments] |

Is there a difference between these Note 10+ models? Posted: 28 Oct 2019 03:44 PM PDT Is there a difference between the SM-N9750/DS (China/Brazil/LATAM) version of the Note 10+ and the SM-N975U (USA) version? I recently purchased the first model seeing as I found it cheaper and saw that it had the Snapdragon 855 which I heard was way better than Exynos. As a person living in the USA, will this affect my experience with the phone? Is one better than the other? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
Bluetooth contacts locked while driving over 10 MPH? Posted: 28 Oct 2019 05:10 PM PDT Hello, I have been using my phone (LG G6) over Bluetooth thanks to my car's voice recognition. Up until last week I was able to say "Call Name" and it would call the person. I just updated my phone (Android 9, security patch May 1, 2019) last week. Since then, as soon as my car goes above around 10 MPH for 5-10 seconds, my contacts get locked. I can still say "Call XXX-XXXX" and it will call them. But it will not recognize the person associated with the number. If I say "Call Name" it will not find the contact. If I put my car display on the phone menu I can actually see the Contacts and the Dialing tabs get greyed out while I go over 10 MPH. What is going on? My phone UI is not changing. There is no Do Not Disturb configured on my phone. Can anyone help me find out what's it going on and how I can cancel it? I have looked everywhere online and I see no mention of restrictions like this at all. Is this new? This has been driving me crazy. I would really appreciate the help. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Is there a way to have Spotify open and make no other apps accessible/can't leave Spotify? Posted: 28 Oct 2019 09:16 PM PDT I'm going to be having music for a party playing off Spotify on my phone and I want other people to be able to queue songs, but I don't want people to go through my phone and open other apps. Is there a way to make this possible? Xiaomi note 4X. [link] [comments] |
Any way to hide the Gesture line in Android 10? Posted: 28 Oct 2019 01:41 PM PDT Preferably without root or anything. I just think it's silly to have the little line at the bottom of the screen when using Gesture mode, as if I need to know where the bottom of the screen is. I just got a Pixel 3XL and anticipate this will burn in eventually, would love to avoid it. [link] [comments] |
How Can I use The Undo Function In Android 9? Posted: 28 Oct 2019 04:57 PM PDT So apparently in Android version 9 you can use undo / redo, but only if you have a keyboard with a Ctrl key. I've always used the standard keyboard that comes with the phone. I'm using the samsung keyboard, but I don't see any undo button or Ctrl. Is there a simple way to get the undo function on the samsung keyboard in Android version 9? Or would I need to download a dodgy keyboard from elsewhere? Also... if the standard keyboards like Google keyboard and Samsung keyboard don't have simple undo functionality, may I ask why this is? Are they just 4 years behind on mapping a Ctrl+Z key to their keyboard? What gives Thanks guys [link] [comments] |
AMOLED vs OLED - what are the differences in construction and method of working? Posted: 28 Oct 2019 12:56 AM PDT I read a bunch of articles regarding OLED vs AMOLED comparison, however they seemed that they were made for a person that doesn't know a lot about the displays overall. I am looking for more specific information concerning differences in construction of these two panels, and so I would like to know specific differences about how these work. Couldn't really find much on the Internet, can anyone suggest a good article? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Oct 2019 07:32 PM PDT Does anybody know of any android phones that don't force updates on you? Samsung seems to have fallen under the "we know what's best for you" mindset. [link] [comments] |

Turning off dark mode on individual apps? Posted: 28 Oct 2019 06:00 AM PDT So with the dark mode craze coming to phones, many developers are not giving you the option between "light," "dark," and "AMOLED." All three are very different things, and I personally have found AMOLED to be atrociously difficulty to read. However, it seems like Instagram and a few other apps are just trying to go off of the phone's setting, not the individual app. The phone uses a true dark mode with balanced greys to go easy on the eyes, but the app is horrendous. Are there ways to trick individual apps into thinking dark mode is off on the phone? [link] [comments] |
Music Streaming app "cache" files Posted: 28 Oct 2019 02:03 PM PDT I downloaded the app Disk Usage to see where are my big files, and I saw GBs of Spotify and Napster cache files, what are those ? What happens if I delete them ? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Oct 2019 01:39 PM PDT Is this app good for monitoring my battery life? Because in the app it shows that my screen usage is almost always at 72% while in my phone settings at 35-50% most times. Also is the screen usage percentage normal or not? [link] [comments] |

Which app uses this icon on the status bar Posted: 28 Oct 2019 03:40 PM PDT I'm using Oppo A5s and noticed this icon on the top right part of the screen and it's worrying me of eating ram or used to spy on me. idk where it it came from. https://imgur.com/gallery/AiWkdQK [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Oct 2019 11:27 AM PDT Instead of touching the small sentence about transferring just below the big blue "Continue" button, I touched "Continue" on the new device. Then, it signed me out of my old device, and now, when I touch the Viber icon on the old device, it want me to log in like for the first time - is all the history deleted? Can I access it somehow on the old device, or it's lost since it signed me out of there? [link] [comments] |
