[DEV] Coffee Break - Find people to meet up!

    Posted: 20 Sep 2019 09:21 AM PDT

    Hello!

I'm happy to announce I build my first (complete) flutter app, called Coffee Break. Took me around 5 weeks in total, but I had already one year of building templates & co with Flutter. With this app you can find people around you who don't want to drink a coffee, get some food or go to a bar alone.

I think the app has already some nice features, but is not quite finished yet. Way more to go :) Because the App just launched, there aren't to many signed up and you probably don't find meetups yet, so tell your friends :)

    • Find people in a given Radius
    • Accept / Decline Meetup
    • Find Cafe's, Restaurants and Bars around
    • Set up a meeting point
    • Chat with the meetup
    • Notifications & more

If you are interested just download the app and leave me some feedback (there is a form in the settings as well).

    🔥 Happy testing 🔥

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.paschke.coffeebreak

Have fun and meet new people :)

    [DEV] Expired - Warranty Tracker

    Posted: 19 Sep 2019 11:44 PM PDT

    Hi,
We just published our Android app. It is a Warranty tracker app that allows you to track items with multipart warranty and extended warranty.

It also can scan the receipt and digitalize it.

We try to develop keys feature that might be useful into the app user like notification, backup-restores, and some security to keep your receipt and other data safe.

We know that there are many warranty tracker app already published in the Play store but we spend many many months to research and simplify the process, solve some of the pain points about warranty tracker app that we face and now we need some feedback about it.

We really want you guy to check it out. Any feedback is welcome.

Should I disable apps that affect the UI of my phone before updating from Android 9 to 10?

    Posted: 20 Sep 2019 08:29 AM PDT

By disable I mean first undo the changes they made and then disable them.

After having a Windows Phone for years I recently bought a Nokia 8.1 and have installed and set up apps like SystemUI Tuner, Navigation Gestures, and Lawnchair v2. Although I don't think that last one will be a problem the other ones do things like remove my navigation bar and put all apps in "Immersive Mode" by default and so I was wondering if potentially some problems may pop up if I just updated to the new version.

Example horror scenario I'm fearing: the navigation bar remains disappeared but the "pill" that's meant replace it is also gone because the app is somehow incompatible with the new Android version.

An app for downloading files for local network to Android device?

    Posted: 20 Sep 2019 07:15 AM PDT

I just transitioned to a Pixel 3a from an iPhone

On the iPhone I was able to use "playerextreme" to download photos, videos and other files from my local network drive to my iPhone.

The Android version of playerextreme seems to be missing this functionality

Are there any other apps that can do this?

    Thanks

My physical lock button doesn't work. I downloaded "Screen Off and Lock" app, but my fingerprint unlock doesn't work...

    Posted: 20 Sep 2019 09:59 AM PDT

    I use this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock

The problem I come across: "Device Locked by Admin" and have to open with PIN instead of Fingerprint. What to do? Use some alternate app?

    I only have 2 requirements:

    1. Lock screen and open with Fingerprint (since physical lock doesn't work).
    2. Have a quick tile, so I can lock via status bar button.

I'm using Non-Root phone, 7.0 android, with locked bootloader. Something free would be preferable.

    Thank you!

    Which app can do this?

    Posted: 20 Sep 2019 11:12 AM PDT

I am searching for an app that let me remote control another device of mine whenever I want without any interaction on the other device.

I will explain the situation. I want to leave the second device at home and connect to it remotely to open an app remotely. I want the phone to always accept the incoming request of remote control (because I would use the app when I'm not at home, so I couldn't accept it)

    How can I do this?

Recommended System Information Apps? (Aida64, Device Info, …?)

    Posted: 20 Sep 2019 04:09 AM PDT

Some years ago, I installed My Device Pro to get information about the device. Hasn't received an update in a long time: wondering if nowadays other apps are even more recommended. Don't mind paying for it.

Options that require root are okay (OP7 + TWRP + Magisk setup).

For instance I just installed two with pros and cons: - Device Info: I like that it's possible to "turn pages" by swiping - Aida64: I like the direct access to categories (the opposite of what I said above), has info that the other doesn't have, e.g. Directories

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Blacklist app compatible with pixel 3a?

    Posted: 20 Sep 2019 08:42 AM PDT

I'm sick of getting robo calls. I used to blacklist my entire area code on my s7 as I no longer live in that area so it worked great. Unfortunately I haven't found a blacklist app that works with the pixel. Anyone have any luck with this? I don't know why Google can't add the option to block "begins with" in their software. The spam blocker is useful but only about 20 percent effective. Call screening is useless unless you want to text chat with robots

    Thanks

Is there a way to add a photo shortcut to the homepage?

    Posted: 20 Sep 2019 08:41 AM PDT

    Hello people,

I have kind of a weird request. I'm looking for an app that allows me to add a shortcut for a specific photo on my homepage.

Does anyone know how to do that? The Samsung gallery and Google Photos don't seem to be able to do that.

    Thanks!

[DEV] CrashGuard - Car Crash Lifesaver (SafeRide)

    Posted: 20 Sep 2019 10:32 AM PDT

CrashGuard is live on the play store!

So after a lot of preparation and battling google, CrashGuard is finally on the play store for all of you to try out!

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.crashguard.lifesaver

I changed the name because there were already a few apps named SafeRide in the app store.

CrashGuard can detect a car crash and do a handful of operations automatically, like call your friends and family, send them an sms with your location, launch a voice assistant (google assistant if your device supports it) and more to come!

The purpose of CrashGuard is to try to save the lives of those involved in a car accident by trying to get them the help they need as soon as possible.

The idea was inspired by many car accidents that happened where there were not many people around to see the accident and help. This app was made to try to help people in these situations where the people involved lose consciousness/ are unable to seek help from the people around or when the phone's screen is damaged and therefore are unable to call for help.

I'd really appreciate it if you could try it out and leave a nice review!

    Thank you so much <3

    Circle widget for battery life

    Posted: 20 Sep 2019 12:54 PM PDT

There used to be several solid choices for wishers that shows remaining battery life as a circulation widget but based on play store reviews they're all varying degrees of mediocre now. Is there a reliable one left?

Browser app similar to icab mobile for Android?

    Posted: 20 Sep 2019 11:45 AM PDT

icab mobile was an excellent iOS app with feature like: multiple user profile, password protected access, download manager, etc.

It essentially is a mobile browser with a large number of features and large degree of customization that includes every feature of a desktop browser.

Is there anything similar for Android?

    Thanks!

    Pedometer for recovery

    Posted: 20 Sep 2019 05:21 AM PDT

I'm recovering from knee surgery and my therapist has set me a goal to reach over six weeks for the number of steps I take. With the idea I increase my steps daily.

Is there an app that: - shows the target as an hourly break down - adjusts this target based on what I have achieved - preferably has a reminder system that reminds me to get off my butt

    Syncing browsing history

    Posted: 20 Sep 2019 10:02 AM PDT

Is there a way to sync the previous browsing history on Chrome? I know if you sign in to your account on 2 phones the history after is shared, but is there a way to move the browsing history from one phone on to the second phone? And what about syncing on Firefox, does it bring the history over either?
