    Good laptop for gaming?

    I'm getting a new computer for Christmas and I want something to be able to like play modern games on while I do other stuff.

    I know some may frown at the idea of getting a "gaming laptop" but I just want something with very decent specs that is affordable (or not ridiculously expensive since I'm in South America), it can't be a desktop because of my situation so getting a laptop with good specs would be way more convenient.

    I'm not very good at the technical stuff but I'm just looking for something more or less balanced

    SO my helios 300 support 600 or 144 hz of refresh rates but my screen flickers at 144 and I dont like 60. SO i downloaded CRU and created a custom profile with refresh rate as 120 htz. Since 120 is under 144 i think its safe but i want to know from other people. Does it affect my laptop's life? Also will it be safe if I tried to create a custom resolution of 1440p if my screen is only 1080p.

    According to this video, I should be able to average 30-50 fps, but I'm not getting nearly the same performance. The game stutters and hovers between 10-30 fps. I checked msi afterburner and the cpu/gpu usage isn't lining up either. My cpu is constantly at 100% usage while my gpu hovers between 30-60%. gpu clock speed maxes at like 945 instead of 1240. I had to use custom Apex Legends settings from a youtube video just to get barely playable. Is there anyone that can help me out?

    Asus Zephyrus G15 vs Macbook M1 Pro long term usage

    Hi, I'm planning on buying a new laptop and I want my laptop to last a long term (I'm hoping to get minimum 7 to 8 years). I'm currently considering Asus Zephyrus G15 GA503QM with this specs:

    1. 16GB soldered DDR4-3200 RAM (upgradable to 40GB)
    2. RTX 3060 Graphics card
    3. 512 GB SSD (upgradable to max 4TB)
    4. Ryzen 9 - 5900HS processor

    I will be using my laptop for coding and light to moderate gaming (Dota2, LoR, TFT). Do you guys think it's possible for this laptop to be usable for 7 to 8 years or do you think I should go for Macbook M1 Pro instead (the lowest option with 16GB RAM). Do you guys think the price difference ($1499 for ROG and $1999 for Macbook M1 pro) is worth it?

    Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360?

    Hello,

    So I'm looking to gift myself a laptop for Christmas since I need one oh-so-badly right now, and I've got my eyes on the Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360 (i7, 16GB).

    The only problem is the laptop I buy needs to be able to comfortably handle 3 things:

    1) Editing programs, especially Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Blender, After Effects etc.

    2) Virtual Machines

    3) Streaming software, especially OBS

    Since I literally know nothing about laptops, please can I have some advice on if I should get this laptop or no? I really want a 360 laptop with a pen btw.

    Laptop won't pick up any sound, whether headphones are plugged in or not

    So my laptop was able to pick up sound just fine one day. The day after, I got into a discord call with a friend and he couldn't hear my voice at all. I switched my headset to earphones that had a microphone and he still couldn't hear me - I unplugged any headset/microphones altogether and my laptop wouldn't pick up any sound at all. It was weird, because nothing changed at all from the day it was still working to the day it stopped. I definitely know it's not my headphones, because my laptop should also be able to pick up sound even if they're not plugged in and it won't.

    Things I've already looked at:

    1. Audio/sound settings from the control panel. Everything seems to be in order to allow the mic to pick up sound
    2. Updating my audio driver. It only says "The best drivers for your device are already installed" when I try to update it. I've also tried uninstalling it, rebooting my computer, then seeing that the driver has been installed again and that didn't work.

    Anyone have any suggestions or might know the cause? I'm not sure if actual hardware is messed up on my computer that's causing this to happen, at this point I might bring it in for maintenance or repair.
