Is there a Reddit app that can EXCLUDE certain subsides from r/all?

    Posted: 14 May 2019 05:28 AM PDT

My God am I over choosingbeggars, niceguys, sadcringe, im14andthisisdeep etc. I switched to reddit to get away from the monotony of echo chambers like Facebook... And it has just become the same pointless meme heavy groups everywhere. I love r/all, but there are some groups I'm so sick of, I NEED an app that can exclude these repetitive groups for me (at least temporarily until I'm ready to meme again).

[DEV] llCrop: Lossles jpg cropping app without reencoding quality-losses

    Posted: 14 May 2019 08:20 AM PDT

4 Months ago i asked for a Lossless jpg cropping android app and got no reply :-(

    So i created my own:

llCrop allows you to either remove unwanted outer areas from a jpg-photo) or to create zoom-ins.

Just load a jpeg photo, select a rectangle and save the rectangle as a new photo-file.

While there are many apps that can crop images (and may have many more features) these apps cause quality-losses caused by jpg-re-encoding.

llCrop ("ll" stands for loss-less) can do cropping without quality-losses because it crops in the raw jpg-photo-data without the need for jpg-image-re-encoding. It also preserves embedded meta data (Exif/Iptc and xmp)

    Official Reddit app

    Posted: 14 May 2019 04:03 AM PDT

    Just a thought.

I'm normally using Sync Pro but just lately decided to give the official app another go.

Maybe it's just me but it doesn't feel that bad anymore! I like how simplistic it is and a big + for the notifications. Yes, ads get in the way but it's not as bad as I remember it!

App to summarize any article on the web.

    Posted: 14 May 2019 10:21 AM PDT

    Hey guys,

I've just released my first native Android app :) It summarizes any article on the web and removes distractions like ads from the page. Works especially well with news articles. There are two ways you can use it

    1. Enter any web URL in the app.

    2. Share any page to the app via your browser.

Would love it if you could check it out and give feedback.

    Roadmap:

    1. Dark mode for reading

    2. Font size adjuster

    • more things based on the feedback I receive

    Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aerobittech.summarizer

    Thanks

Edit: Oh and I forgot, no unnecessary permissions needed. The only permission required is INTERNET, to get the article from the web.

What's a good automatically stitching scrolling screenshot app?

    Posted: 14 May 2019 08:58 AM PDT

I've tried a few scrolling screenshot apps, but they all just take a few screenshots and make me stitch them manually. Does anyone know of one that stitches them automatically so I don't have to?

    Best app for Two-Factor authentication?

    Posted: 13 May 2019 10:39 PM PDT

I have only used Google Authenticator in the past once and I had a bad experience with it, as I didn't know that if you deleted the app, you lost the info on it as well so I almost lost access to an important account.

However due to recent privacy concerns I've been forced to start using it again. Any good apps out there that focus on privacy and some way to locally back up my accounts? Thanks in advance.

Aqua Mail vs. K-9 Mail vs. Nine Mail

    Posted: 14 May 2019 07:45 AM PDT

Hello all. I've been using Aqua Mail for a number of months now, and while I'm generally happy with it, I've been getting more ads/purchase nag popups. While I would consider paying for it, I've heard that even the full paid version still has ads or something similar? Might be advertisements for the devs other products?

I've tried out two suggested alternatives (K-9 Mail and Nine Mail), and was just wondering if any of my negatives for them are incorrect, or if anyone has suggestions for other mail apps that meet all my preferences. Those being:

    • An accessible bottom task bar for deleting/replying. I've got smaller hands, and hate having to awkwardly try to reach the top of the screen to hit the delete button, or navigate back to an inbox screen to try and swipe left/right on an email. This is by far the key thing I want in a mail app. Be it by default, or an option to place the bar at the bottom.
    • Dark/black theme for the UI and email message content. The UI part is more important, as it seems the black message content part is less likely to be a feature. A nice to have though. :)
    • Option to turn off any bandwidth related restrictions. I'm almost always connected to Wi-Fi, and if not, I've got a pretty decent data plan, so I don't really need to ration what I load from emails. I'd prefer to see the entire email with images without needing to confirm that each time.

    Aqua Mail

    • + Has accessible bottom bar
    • + Black background
    • - My understanding is even with the paid app, there's still ads of some sort?

    K-9 Mail

    • + Has accessible bottom bar
    • + Black background
    • - Always have to manually load images/full email

    Nine Mail

    • + Black background
    • - No accessible bottom bar option

Again, if any of my negatives are incorrect, or if anyone has suggestions for other mail apps that meet all my preferences, I would love to hear them. Thanks!

    EDIT: Formatting

Fps display app that doesn't need an account or anything?

    Posted: 14 May 2019 11:08 AM PDT

Looking for an app to display the frames per second on the screen. I've found two so far, but for one, I'd need to sync to my pc. The other requires a registration, and only allows 30 minutes per month (bullshit, if you ask me).

Automatic set Pinterest wallpapers to your device using this app

    Posted: 14 May 2019 10:19 AM PDT

AutoWall is very simple and straightforward app, I'm sure you'll find it useful if you use Pinterest or just like a fresh look on your device every time.

Give it a look and please leave me some feedback as I really could use some.

    - How are the colors of the app?

    - Do you have any requests for new features?

    - Is the functionality alright?

    Many thanks.

    Is there a bomb app?

    Posted: 13 May 2019 09:20 PM PDT

I need an app that ticks and then explodes at a random time, but there's no game attached to it. Any suggestions? It's for a game with my students.

Edit: I don't want to kill my students 🤣🤣🤣

Edit 2: Okay so I've just finished work so here's an explanation of the game. Students have to try to come up with vocabulary related to a topic (Fruit: bananas, apples, pears). They pass around a bomb to one another saying a new unique word and try to give it to the next person before it explodes. It's a great way for them to say and hear new vocabulary. However the bomb which I have doesn't tick anymore after it got knocked on the floor, so I'm looking for something which can make that ticking sound and explosion sound after a random amount of time.

    Update your WhatsApp

    Posted: 14 May 2019 01:01 AM PDT

WhatsApp just fixed a vulnerability that allowed malicious actors to remotely install spyware on affected phones.

WhatsApp vulnerability was exploited by NSO Group to install Pegasus Spyware.

    How it works

Attacker could exploit this vulnerability by simply making call to any WhatsApp user which could cause executing arbitrary application - in this case spyware.

Target did not have to answer phone to be infected, and calls often disappeared from call logs.

    Affected app versions

    • WhatsApp for Android prior to v2.19.134
    • WhatsApp Business for Android prior to v2.19.44
    • WhatsApp for iOS prior to v2.19.5
    • WhatsApp Business for iOS prior to v2.19.51
    • WhatsApp for Windows Phone prior to v2.18.348
    • WhatsApp for Tizen prior to v2.18.15

What to do to stay safe?

Update your WhatsApp to latest version which is not affected by this vulnerability.

App to "Transfer data to SD card"?

    Posted: 14 May 2019 03:11 AM PDT

Hi! Just switched phones, and on my old Xperia it used to have this option on the Storage Settings to transfer things to the SD card (sorry, this is the only screenshot i could find now, but gets the idea across). On my new Pocophone it's absent. I don't know if it was an Xperia exclusive option, an Android one that got deprecated, an app missing or what, but it's not at all on the new phone.

Is there an app that does this? I'd prefer if it only does this and nothing else, but if it's an app that has this as a functionality i'll take it for now. Major brownie points if it's on Fdroid.

    1.1.1.1 chewing through my battery

    Posted: 14 May 2019 08:17 AM PDT

Over the last several days, my battery has been running down faster than normal. When I look at utilization, 1.1.1.1 is the top consumer. Could it have run amok, or is it just reporting of other app traffic running through it? I did recently update the app - in the last week or so. Wondering if anyone is seeing this.

LaserWaves: a beautiful music visualizer and player!

    Posted: 14 May 2019 08:11 AM PDT

    Hello!

I want to share with you an app that I have created: LaserWaves. LaserWaves includes beautiful and accurate waveform and frequency visualizations.

Here is a short description of the app's visualizations:

    • BasicLasers : a colorful oscilloscope
    • PolarFFT : the fft in a doughnut shape with low frequencies on the outer ring and the log of the higher frequencies on the inner ring
    • Spectrum : a plot of the fft on logarithmic axis
    • Spiral : a curvy mapping of the fft to R^2
    • RetroWaves : a pixelated oscilloscope

The oscilloscope is likely the most accurate you can find on the app store. If you can find one that's more accurate, then please let me know about it. LaserWaves comes with one free visualizer (the oscilloscope) and I have a limited number of promo codes for the others if you want (send me a dm).

The purpose of the app is not to be a fully featured music player but instead to be a platform on which I can distribute my music related pixel art :) (including 3D raymarched scenes, in the future maybe)

I hope that you enjoy LaserWaves and if you do then please leave a rating/review. Thanks and have a nice day!
